Drooler (220) I had to think carefully before answering the "OO's." Thanks to the net, this one's definitely the best because it's so easily available and in such quantity.

There are quality issues that get a lot of discussion at PU. The ones needing the most attention, because they're the most fundamental, are about the content rather than about the technical aspects of quality.

I have a fondness for '70's porn, too, but that was back in the days when you went to an adult bookstore and hoped that no one you knew would see you. Most of the computers were mainframes.

And I haven't rented a porn video since the late '90's. It's an experience that I don't miss.

jd1961 (95) There were so many good looking girls in American porn in the 1980's. Since the AIDS scare, that has changed. The 1970's are interesting for their Hollywood style of movies, and sense of humor. Plus as Drooler mentions, porn was much cooler back then. The 1990's was the age of huge women with outrageous implants. Late 90's to present is the internet explosion, and the fingertip availability of porn from all over the world.

I have to choose the 1980's, for all the hot girls.

Goldfish (67) During the 70's and most of the 80's my porn experience was limited mostly to the occasional Penthouse or Playboy so I have a bias towards the later two decades.

The 90's had some great pornstars and the rise of DVD porn. The thrill of sneaking out to the XXX video store and picking up the latest Racquel Darrian or Julia Ann disc was fun but I have to agree with Drooler you can't beat the variety and easy access to porn in the current decade. We also owe the introduction of Easter European porn to this decade.

exotics4me (463) I have a similar feeling as JD, when talking about hardcore porn those 80s and even early 90s girls were some of the finest ever. I know she isn't that old, but I still love Tiffany Mynx's videos. Also Savannah has always been a longtime favorite, even after her sad passing. The 2000s have a lot of more of one type I like and that is Latinas. I only remember a few Latinas from the 90s, Jasmine comes to mind.

I picked 90s, though I spend a lot more money in the 2000s on porn!

And I remember more than anything making those trips to the movie store. I would usually go with 2-3 friends, one would be the lookout to make sure no one that knew us walked in, the other would be in charge in looking at non-adult movies. You had to something to put on top of the porn when checking out!

Jay G (65) I do enjoy really old nostalgia porn from the 30's, 40's, & 50's, but find the 60's thru the 80's pretty prinitive compared to new porn. There are creative exceptions, of course

I used to spend an awful lot of time in the adult video stores, even driving to other cities to find something new or creative. I don't miss it at all. I love the "instant gratification" of the technology generation.

Monahan (42) Imteresting perspectives so far, Drooler's is from the delivery method perspective and Goldfish's is from a content standpoint.

In my opinion, the 1970's and 1980's had some wonderful talent and the babes had perrsonalities and a reasonable degree of acting capabilities. They even faked orgasms better.

Who can forget T J Sparxx, Christy Canyon, Aja (what a terrific sense of humor she had), Traci Lords, Amber Lynn, Ginger Lynn (no relation), Seka, Juliette Anderson (Aunt Peg), Angel (oh, what a babe), Desiree Cousteau and my all time favorite, Nancy Suiter.

Can anyone name any of today's porn stars who could deliver real lines, not just moans and "Oooh! Fuck me! Yesss!" etc.?

And the good old days where we'd either watch the entire movie and anticipate the "good scenes" or wear out the fast forward button on the VCR's remote.

And when you had that "taste of the forbidden fruit" feeling while watching a porn (or going to a Pussycat Theatre to see porn) instead of having it instantly available.

Nostalgia is always fun. Thanks for asking this question.

williamj (9) The 70's is where it all began. The girls where better at acting and faking O's, plus the sets and the music where so much more porno.

PinkPanther (46) For me - and I've been checking out porn since the 70's - there is no question that the current porn scene is the best. The quality, the variety, the astonishingly hot looks of some of the women doing porn these days - It can all be summed up in one phrase - Thank you, Al Gore!

pat362 (369) The 80's is by far the best decade of all followed by the 70's, 90's and finally today. Although I agree with Drooler that the sheer amount of porn available is incredible. I also find that it is like a TV dinner. It's quick to eat and just as quick to forget. The technology is better today, but I still prefer watching Star Wars to Phantom Menace.

What may be more telling than anything else is that I remember and more importantly still enjoy watching: Annette Haven, Seka, Vanessa Del Rio, Ginger Lynn, Christy Canyon, and I could keep on naming them or movies that they appeared in.
I wonder how many of todays stars or movies will any of us remember a decade from now?

Drooler (220) REPLY TO #7 - Monahan :

It's true that my overall theme is on how porn is delivered. I'd like to say that the '70's porn really was great and quite a turnon. I saw at theatres or on home video lots of movies with Desiree Cousteau, Annette Haven, Serena, Seka, Nicole Black, etc. They had a style and a sense of humor that was part of the culture at that time. I'm very nostalgic about it, too.

But as Pat362 points out, today's porn is like a quick, cheap meal. It's like 8 and 16 mm were to the conventional oven what vmv and avi are to the microwave. Interesting how the technology itself, along with the relatively low supply of content, forced us to slow down and savor it. And we didn't even realize that at the time.

Anyway, as the saying goes, "There's more to life than increasing its speed." Thanks for getting me on this train of thought.

PinkPanther (46) REPLY TO #11 - Drooler :

The 70's porn stuff was hot for its time. I think that in the early 80's, things heated up. That's when you had adventurous directors like Cecil Howard and Alex DeRenzy start to really spread their wings. Then you had incredibly hotties like Ginger Lynn step into the fray. The quality got attrocious for a while when the shift from film to video happened - that early stuff looks absolutely like crap. In the late 80's, though, you had people like Bruce Seven start to do amazing stuff that paved the way for the best of gonzo.

I still say that if the great stuff being created today blows previous periods away. If I were in a porn theater, and a preview came on for a 70's porn flick and then some great Zero Tolerance vid with Amy Reid posing away, then sucking and fucking for all she's worth, I can guaran-damn-tee that I would be 200% more turned on by the Amy Reid vid.

I think there's a lot of nostalgia impacting the posts in this thread while the voting is a more accurate assessment of reality.

The only current stars that I have seen much of a sense of humor with is Eva Angelina. In one video, believe it is called something about beautiful breasts, she says, "These tits really aren't fake, I did have to pay for them after all" in another with the older guy, never can think of his name, blonde hair, heart shaped tattoo on his groin area, she says, "This is so hot, I bet my mom wishes she was me now" and the best one from her, "I decided to be a pornstar because I couldn't hold the camera and have sex at the same time"

nygiants03 (162) 00's clearly. Never before did you have so much porn to choose from now. You can find anything your looking for in todays porn world. There are just so many porn sites to choose from unlike prior decades. Back then all you had were some poor quality vhs videos that looked like a total act.

Pornjackker (37) I enjoy vintage 70's clips because they used 8mm
film and scenarios, music were more innovative than
anything I've scene today. US porn in the 90's was
just horrible. Today's porn is great because it's
easier to access. However, there's a lack of fresh
new ideas that makes today's porn quite boring.
