Khan's Poll
I did that way back in 2004 with Danni.com when the site was superbly managed and had state of the art technical features. The 3 month price was good and I couldn't see myself letting the membership expire.
A lot has happened since then; Danni "retired," the support staff became non-responsive and the DRM made all archived stuff unavailable.
I signed up again for a month and found a site that is still in a sad state of repair. The multi-price is still available, but who would want to sign up for more than one month?

Drooler's Poll
As was discussed in the last poll about trial offers, the number of quality websites is growing rapidly. The webmaster of the site that is really good will do all it can to show the prospective member why he should sign up on his site. That includes a solid preview with samples as well as reasonable pricing.
As Jay G says, I no longer bother with sites that do a lousy job on previews because the message is like people looking for work; if you can't write a decent resume that sells yourself, you won't do any better on the job.

Yes, Kahn, that's a consideration.
But if a site can be "raided" ("drained" of its content) in a 48-72 hour period, it's way too light on content and is likely to have very few renewals.
Sites with light content, such as single model sites, can address the issue by establishing download limits on trial users, such as 2 Gb per 24 hours or such. That way the trial member can still check out the content but can't keep it.
IMO, the most effective way for GOOD sites to attract and retain members is to offer a brief trial (2 days) with full access but with a download limit, followed by a full price month (say, $30) followed by a second month, if continuous, for $25.
Alternatively a high priced trial (say $10 for 3 days) that applies the trial payment against the first month so that the price for a full month would be an additional $20 would be effective.
BTW, high quality sites like FTV, Ox Pass and All Internal, to name a few, that have large numbers of "trailers" in their free tours provide effective "limited trials" for free.
The competition is getting better and the number of sites is getting larger by the day so sites need better and more imaginitive front end strategies just to stay even.

I agree 100%. See my reply to Drooler.
The previews show me that the site content has exactly what I like and that there's a ton of content that I have to look forward to, so the periodicity of updates really isn't much of an issue. It becomes one only after I run out of currently available content, which looks like it won't be happening soon.

No, Danni's is no Twistys. Twistys has a good mix of hardcore and softcore and has a good structured interface and high quality. No hardcore on Danni but the girls do get down and dirty with each other occasionally.
The present Danni's tries too hard to be the 2007 version of the very successful formula it had in the early 2000's when it was the porn site.
Today it's got some great content but it also has way too much chatty cathy stuff (long, vapid interviews with fully clothed girls) and it tries to get artsy fartsy with sof focus and slow motion.
The worst part is that a large percentage of its archival material is disabled or just missing. Links don't work, strange error messages pop up, etc.
The current site is in need of serious adult supervision.
Please note - The site was recently overhauled completely so that it is now a mess to find anything.
An updated TBP review would be great!

Great point, Drooler.
The marketing of porn sites, of course, focuses on "membership" for a longer period. In fact if they offered a discounted renewal rate ($30 to start and $20 or $25 to continue past the first month, that might make a difference.
In any case, you're right. Even if there were no updates at all the $30 investment to access the archives looks like a good one.

Trials, other than full access trials, are a total waste of time and money. Met-Art has a 1 day full access trial for $9.95 that is the only legit "full trial" I've actually paid for in the last year. I like that approach very much because you can really see if you like the site and want to sign up without, in their case, dropping $30 for the privilege.
No, unless you have 24 hours to spend, youi won't be able to D/L too much of their stuff, but you get to really know the site.
In my case, I like video more than pix, and Met Art is principally a photo site (an outstanding one, by the way) but I was able to ascertain that it wasn't really my kind of site. The $10 saved me the $20 more that a month long access would have set me back.

Based in the comments on this site (Porn Users) this is a major improvement. The other suggestion made was to offer a dual membership to both ALS sites at a reduced rate. Any chance of that happening?

Denner's Poll
As I was first finding sites several years ago I was finding myself saying that 50 cents to $1 a day per month for access to a great looking site was cheap so why not? But when I ran up about $130 one month for 5 or 6 sites I decided that, perhaps it was time to put on a limit especially when I joined more sites than I could reasonably surf in the time available.
My rule now is that, if there's a site that I really like, I won't spring for it for 7 days ("coolong off period"). I use the time to read through the various reviews (if it's not on TBP or PU, I won't bite) and rtevisit the preview a few times.
That rule resulted in my not signing up for about 50% of the sites in which I had an initial urge. A few were put on hold but I wound up signing up a bit later.

I agree. The webmasters/site owners must know that TBP gets a lot of traffic from non registered people and that PU is as good a resource for non-members as for members.
PU is the Consumers Union of Porn afficionadoes and any site owners that don't pay attention to what is said here do so at their own peril.

If access is denied to a fully paid for site, the subscriber is entitled to either an immediate reply and repair or to an extension of his subscription. Most sites where I've had that problem respond very quickly. In those cases where no response is received, access is OK a few hours later so contact is not important.
One notable exception is Danni.com. That site does not respond to any emails to its support center. That's bad, because Danni has a serious problem with broken links and bad files, in particular some of its archived material. Sadly, the site continues to be unresponsive to its paying customers.
One site, victoriapink.com, gave me an extra month when they were unable to fix an access problem for a three day period.

I did that once with Venus Knight, whose website is AngelicaCostello.com. I was caught up in the process and just signed up for it. It's not listed in TBP but the price seemed right ($19.99 for 3 months - non-recurring). The site is pure garbage and has nothing at all worth saving on Venus.

I have had less than optimal luck with download managers (probably what the call centers call Pebcak (problem exists between chair and keyboard)), so I would like to hear suggestions from members regarding download managers and their utilization.

Excellent point, Robare. The same can be said for many other sites that update frequently but with short clips of the same talent.
In any case I have just signed up with FTV and, based on the Porn Users reviews, I expect to be very busy during the month. Thanks everyone for all the great feedback.

Thanks, Drooler. I found the list.
There were 7 updates between 8/1/07 and 8/31/07 on random days (Fri, Tues, Mon, Wed, Sun, Sat, Fri). I agree, for $30 a month that's not many, compared to, say, Bang Bros. with 10+/- updates per week for $24 per month. But FTV has such a huge library, it will take a month or two to just check out the "keepers" on the site.
But having had a chance to check out the free previews, which are quite good, by the way, this site really hits my preferences for HQ videos of gorgeous ladies. I prefer watching female body parts over some tattoo laden ex con hairy sperm donor sticking his gnarly schlong into a beautiful vagina, so I suspect I'll be dropping 3 Alexanders ($10 bills) shortly based on a pretty much unanimous set of positive reviews on this site.

If I sign up for a trial, it will only be for a full trial (where the TBP warning about a limited trial is not present) and then only if I can devote a significant amount of time to download all of the worthwhile content.
I have never let a trial flip into a full subscription, even when the site throws a "special" price to convince me to stay.

Follow-up - I let the membership autorenew (at $9.95 - the TBP discounted rate) to see about the hi res zips.
Nope. Not provided and no reply from tech support.
Great vids, but don't count on high resolution photos, if that's your thing.

When TBP has a positive review of a site and the site offers a discount to TBP members, and if the site has marginal interest except for the review and the lower price, I have signed up to give the site a try. So my reply is YES.
The Best Porn is really the strongest and best source for good info about sites, both from its staff and from this forum, and the discount feature is one very positive bonus feature.
In recent months I have signed up with only one site (Ox Pass) that did not offer a TBP discount.

By "stumbled" I assume you mean where someone who may not have been aware of my "stash" accidentally found it. Because I have various software locks on my "stash," the only person to whom I did not grant access to my stuff was the computer repair shop technician who asked me if I knew someone had been surfing some "naughty sites" with my computer. (He was checking the Internet History for reasons he did not explain.) Told him that I suppose that happened but I really didn't care.

I have been a very satisfied member of VideoBox for over 24 months and of Sexy-Babes.tv for 4 years. They are both cheap and loaded with the stuff I like. In addition I'll sign up for one or two additional sites depending on my work load and my free time.
