Both PinkPanther and pat362 are right. Streamate.com's "private" is referred at other cam sites as "group" since any number of user may join and chat with the model. It's easy to tell when a model is in exclusive because you don't get the option to join her current "private".
Things get complicated when you throw in the flat rate "gold shows" in the mix. If you have the time and courage, you may try reading my "Taxonomy of a Host's Online Status" comment further down at the Streamate.com comments section here on PU.
As to what models prefer, I've seen all kinds of situations at Streamate.com: models who don't even know that the exclusive option exists and also models who set the exact same price for private and exclusive to encourage 1 on 1. When I asked a model who set the private 1 cent cheaper than the exclusive, she said she did so because she couldn't cope with the multiple requests at the same time that come from a non-exclusive chat and preferred giving attention to just one member.

Maybe Streamate.com tried to charge something on your card and your bank didn't allow it? If I remember correctly, they were sending me an email whenever a charge was made on my card. Check your spam folder in case there's an email with further info there.

Thanks indeed for the long reply and the model's perspective on the show type and her options. My comment was written about the time they launched it but, despite my initial disapproval, ended up joining a couple Gold Shows ever since.
I used to like having 1 on 1 with pornstars and Streamate is probably the site with the most pornstars. For the time being, at least. It's frustrating to only have the option to get Gold Shows from them now. I've ended up removing most of my favorites and canceling the SMS alerts. Haven't spent on Streamate in a long while.

I used the term clone site in the sense those sites are mere re-brandings of Streamate.com. If you check It's Live, iCamz Live, Cam Crush or Live Freaks pages here you'll notice there's a big "site clone notice" at the top. Those are just 4 of the 50+.
There are probably better ways to track referrals than to use a different domain. As a user, I was confused at first with models talking on the net about cammodels and Streamate.com indistinctly.

Thanks for the tip. It's not as slow as actually entering the room and you get the benefit of not being banned by a trigger-happy model but I find it has a extremely slow response time compared to other cam sites' similar functionality.
It's also worth stressing that this feature only seems to be available at Streamate.com and not at its various clones. Since most models actively promote their cammodels subdomain, this feature is likely lost by many users.

While some cam sites resemble a police state obsessed with milking every bit of interaction between you and the hosts and others are an anarchy full of amateur designs, emoticons and explicit sex in free chat, Streamate.com makes some sort of compromise.
You won’t see anything below the waist in free chat and contacting a host outside the site isn’t encouraged but they don’t charge you for simple things like sending an in-site message to a host and many hosts have twitter accounts. Hosts who have a site of their own often plug it while in free chat or even in their profile page.
I have a love-hate relationship with the site’s interface. On every chat window, there’s a button that mutes all other users and has your words only seen by hosts. Good both for blocking the peanut gallery and for privacy although the icon isn’t exactly easy to understand. Also, you don’t need to leave free chat to check host’s prices. On the other hand I found many issues in listings. I never manage to keep hosts sorted the way I’d like and I feel the fact that a host appears as “online” regardless of “how much online” she really is deserved a comment of its own here.
This site, and mainly its clone site Cammodels, are currently very popular among US porn stars. One of the reasons could be that Streamate offers a chat widget that may be embedded at the members area of a site and host member chats accessible at the same time via Streamate. It’s not unusual to find 10-15 fairly well known stars online at a given time, even at Europe-friendly hours.
Regarding private chats, they have a great log of all your past activities in the last 3 months: minutes and seconds spent with each host and on which day. Unfortunately, you don’t get much info while in private. Not knowing how much time you’ve been in your current private session is not unusual at other sites but they should at least tell you that you are about to hit your daily limit so you may properly end the session.
I find confusing the overabundance of clone sites that work the exact same way. US porn stars and hosts always post links to Cammodels, not Streamate.com. I would suggest anyone interested to join through Streamate.com and not a clone because Streamate.com offers registered users a preview of a host’s free chat when you place your mouse over her picture on a listing. None of the clone sites seems to offer it. |

I suppose you're aware that TBP has numerical data from 09/2008 and info on video resolutions (74 photo shoots and 40 videos).
I'm not a member but all the Last-Modified headers for image updates on the home page are from the same date on 11/2008. It doesn't necessarily mean there haven't been more updates since then: it could simply happen that they haven't changed the tour for a while.
I found some samples following the webmasters link on the home page and going to the news section.

The easiest way to know when a file on a web server was last modified is with a javascript bookmarklet. Search for "javascript lastModified bookmarklet" and you'll find it easily.
It often gets fooled because some servers send the current date but, in cases like this, it's quite handy: I cannot be a 100% sure the site hasn't updated in 6 months without joining it but, since the picture of the last update on the home page was uploaded in June 2008, I draw my own conclusions.

Needless to say the date in a huge font at the home page is not the date of the last update but today's one.
Looking at the web server headers, the update at the top goes back at least to June 2008. The site most likely hasn't updated in the last 6 months.

Yes, that's what I meant when I said it's confusing. My guess was they copy-pasted the info from the basic package and left by mistake the pay-per-minute, pay-as-you-go and pay-per-view part (aren't those three the exact same thing?). The full package contents lists "all eromaxx videos (stream/download)" and there's no reference to credits in the full package so that's why I assumed it's a regular membership. I could be wrong, though.
I spent some time at the Eromaxx blog but there's no real information. Neither is there any info in the FAQ. The news section has a snippet that points in the direction that Tainster is Orgy Max 2.0: "We've taken the old network and given it not only a full facelift, but we've also added so many features and pimped out the technology in such a way to make Tainster the new leader in online adult entertainment"

I wasn't familiar with The Minion's story until recently so I don't know whether any of the scenes were released previously. I did some research and I'm not sure if they will be filming more updates than the 150+ scenes that Chico Wang did. Scenes, so, are probably a couple years old. Maybe, if the site is successful enough, the guy will perform in some more scenes.
The Minion now goes by the name Doron Pepperscone and works as PA for Billy Watson (owner or director of most sites in this network). If you are interested in his story, there's a podcast interview with him at PornStar Podcast. There's also another one with Billy Watson.

Even though the site needs (a lot of) work in terms of usability and navigation, the photos are so remarkable that I had to give it a high enough score to get it over the majority of solo sites I've reviewed in the past. In the end, it's the content what matters.
After joining The Mosh Room, I've checked free tours and samples from other sites allegedly in the alt, fetish or pin up genres but none interested me half as much. It's probably the way Mosh manages to balance varying doses of things that aren't my thing with her unique style, looks and poses what appealed and still appeals to me.

I believe there is a big gap between alt modeling and my tastes. Latex fetish, stockings, garters, vintage clothes, burlesque or pin up style are not my thing. The Mosh Room is the solo site of an alt model that has lots of things that are not my cup of tea and, yet, I liked this site quite a lot and I’d recommend anyone to at least take a look at the free tour.
The alt adjective doesn’t come from her body modifications: she has a very unique look but no tattoos at all and just some discrete nipple and ear piercings. She does have extremely pale skin and hair bleached white. I guess the alt adjective comes from a mix of her looks, her taste in style (pin up, vintage stockings, latex, extremely high heels) and the unusual, yet jawdropping, poses she bends herself into for pictures.
According to the very detailed about me section, Mosh trained as a gymnast since childhood. Saying merely that she is flexible would be a huge understatement. She has a perfect control of her body: every pose is different but every pose is a winner. For instance, I'm in awe of how she uses her hands, how she manages to bring something more to already extraordinary poses by the way her hands are placed and tensed. It’s difficult to put in words the uniqueness of the end results.
The photos come from many different photographers but, even though, I got the feeling that she has a lot to say on how she gets shot so all sets end up having some sort of “Mosh style”. Unfortunately, the 350+ photo sets are dumped into a single huge listing sorted by release date. Apart from adding listings for categories (latex, nude, stockings, ...) it would make a lot of sense to group or, at least, make sets searchable by the metadata that is shown when you open them: photographer, garments designer and so on.
The site has much more text pages than the usual solo site: tips, diaries, biography, faqs but interaction seems to be limited to email. She periodically posts publicly replies to emails she gets, specially when it’s other models asking for advice. Looks like there were some webcam chats at some point and also a forum of some sorts but nothing seem to be going on in that direction currently. |

Since this site is almost certainly defunct, I encourage those curious about it to go for the trial membership and grab the content since it could be taken down at any time. No need to stay further since no updates seem to be coming. If you're really into this type of content, I encourage to try Danni.com's "Up Close & Personal with ..." series with their Danni girl of the month.
The interview part reminds a lot of the ones at Babelicious: most of the questions are repeated and the production team is also the same so it brings a certain sense of déja vu. The BTS follows the model while she's getting ready for the shoot; picking clothes, makeup, etc. Both are interesting and very rarely seen. All models are great looking but getting a glimpse of the personality can make you grow fonder of her; Karlie Montana is perhaps the best example for me. I won't say names, but it can happen the exact opposite: some model may have the looks but her personality sucks.
Regarding the sets, they have a certain flare of Twistys or Babelicious. Softcore models will just tease while hardcore ones will masturbate. The end result is more than OK but it feels short having only one set per model.

Your review prompted me to join and I really liked what I saw. I haven't had time to watch all the content but so far, so good. For a trial membership, it's a real bargain if you like this type of content.
I was prompted to research around the site and the sad thing is that the site is for sale. I came across a webmaster message board where the owner of the site said he was listening to offers. I doubt that there will be any updates in the meantime. If the site is sold, it's unclear whether the new owners will be able to keep up with the quality of the first 14 updates.

I'm not currently a member but was some time ago of this and the other two bonus sites: Black Ice Pass and Zero Tolerance on Demand. My impression then and now, after checking the free tour, is that they release full DVDs at most a month after they hit the streets and all but compilations end up being available.
You may check for yourself. Go to Adult DVD Empire, choose DVD tab at the top and look for Third Degree Films sutdio at the bottom right. Comparing the Release date sorting at Adult DVD Empire and at Third Movies, it looks like the 3 most recent non-Compilation physical DVDs still haven't been released at Third Movies but all others on the first page are already fully available at Third Movies.
Answering your other question, Third Movies' free tour hints they are releasing full DVDs and they were doing so back when I was a member but checking bonus site Zero Tolerance On Demand's free tour, it looks like they are releasing the various scenes in a DVD on different days.
