I agree with you that bsdm is an aberration, but in the same token. Isn't anal, dp's, gang bangs, blow bangs, and any other variation on theme the same? I've been watching porn for abouty 20 yrs and I still can't tell you what makes a person choose porn as a carrer.

One theory why some people enjoy bsdm is that there is a significant amount of adrenalin released when we are scared and the fact that you are restrained, at the mercy of another person can be scary.
Add to that the fact that the body releases endorphin when we are subjected to pain, and I'd say you have one amazing natural cocktail to make anyone an addict. I suspect that in time you are required to subject yourself to more fear and pain to get the same high, but
that is the way with any drug.
That explains the masochist point of view, but beats me what drives the sadist. Afterall any person who enjoys inflicting pain and torment should have a hard time stopping when they hear a safe word.
I'll let you come up with a theory for them, since I had such a brilliant one for the masochist. Of course when I said brilliant that was in my own delusional mind.

There are sites, believe it or not, that I think are too "artsy." NenaBlue, for instance, looks too artsy for me. So what one considers "artsy" I suppose begins with a baseline tolerance (or lack thereof).

I want to add one thing here about JAV, and I'm not going to get into an argument over it like I did in a previous review, or even pass judgement.
As an old timer, IMO there are 2 types of adult material:
Erotica and porno.
Porno focuses on the genitals, and speaking only for myself, while not against seeing that at all, that to me is not too important. Porno focuses on the old in and out, and specializes in endless closeups of body parts. Fine. And if you never saw porn before, that's what you want to see I guess.
Erotica is the overall mood or setting. I am an old timer, and I want to see beautiful girls, such as the JAV girls. Would I rather see the mosaic removed, sure, and it probably will be some day. But I'm more interested in the eroticism as opposed to the porn. And this is the way it is with premium Japanese porn. If the JAV stars were allowed to do both styles, I'd watch the uncensored---but they don't. IMO, mine only, uncensored japanese porn is mostly junk. The top shelf girls don't do it (Maria Ozawa excepted).And I don't watch it just for the genitals.
The JAV industry is so huge that I'm sure one day the mosaic will be removed, it's pretty paper thin now as it is.
I thought I made it clear in my review that this is a premium Japanese site. Most uncensored Japanese video is of lesser actresses and no JAV stars, and illegal in Japan.The notable exception being Maria Ozawa who rebelled against the JAV system!
So my review reflects that. I know a lot of people don't understand the JAV industry. There is no uncensored JAV video. There are plenty of 3rd rate genital video sites to go to, but they won't include JAV stars.

That's why I am quibbling about the value of a score.
I've seen pay sites rated 90+ I would not want to watch for free. Either the models don't appeal to me, or the action is a real turnoff. Personal taste (site content) is more important than ease of use (site layout).
I want a site that's easy to use. But more importantly, I want:
-great looking models.
-lots of high-quality pics or vids
-a price that I think reasonable (based on content)
Still looking for the perfect site. In the meantime, I enjoy window shopping.
I don't know, messmer, but I never noticed anything "darkish" or otherwise physically different about Toby's sets on ATK's various sites or in his work elsewhere. I did notice that his sets were extremely predictable and instantly recognizeable, at least with the older material, which comprises most of what I've seen since I'm not into the new style of softcore at all. Predictable as in: girl in doorway, expose one breast, expose other breast, lift skirt, turn around, get on floor, lift knees, open knees, turn on side, turn over...done. The models spent WAY too much time on the damn floor in most of Toby's vintage sets.
Over-all, however, I do agree that ATK lags behind some of the premier sites and are resting on their laurels technically and esthetically. I have always enjoyed my visits to their sites because of the sheer amount of content and the wide variety of photographers they use. But I do visit now far less than I did in the years past.
I like the review of Old Spunkers. Clean, easy to understand, lots of details.
What I don't understand is the score. I have a hard time figuring out how to score a site. I've only done 3 site reviews. 2 of the sites I scored at 75, and I like the sites, think they are worthwhile joining, even if you only join for a month to download whatever files you want to keep (Domai and Glamdeluxe).
One site I scored 97, because its got massive content, lots of great models, lots of quality photosets, and a low annual price of $99 (Metart). That's the best value I've seen for softcore teen.
But you give a score of 68 to a junk site.
What counts is the overall impression of the site, which you make clear. But I wonder how useful these scores are, even as a general guide. People really need to read the complete review of a site, and not just look at the score as a major factor.
I wish I had a more objective way of scoring a site, because I don't think a score means very much.
On the other hand, I'm also glad we can score any way we want, because I wouldn't like to be bound by some formula that Pornusers developed for scoring.
I just checked and yes, there are 172 sets by Toby at Premium. I did notice one with the "blue tinge," but most of them looked, well, untainted (?).
I could be completely wrong but I wonder if the intensity of tinging has anything to do with the type of monitor. When I got my most recent Dell box, two years ago, it came with a flat screen monitor that I just couldn't stand for photo viewing. Had to go back to my old (nearly 10-year-old) CRT. Forgive me, Al Gore. But maybe it's just me, bein' hyper-picky 'n all.
I recently came across just one food smearing pic set that I kind of liked. The girl had mashed what looked like an Eskimo Pie onto her own pie of hair. It looked yummy.
But I hate them smearing the stuff all over their tits and legs and stuff. And anyway, NONE period would be OK.
I'll have to agree that the formula problem is quite common at ATK Premium. It wasn't that way when they started, although the material developed its own formulas which I didn't care much for, either: girls doing laundry and ironing, listening to music with earplugs stuck in, etc. Really, it didn't work.
But I won't say that formulas never work. I have my own formula stuck in my own head. The key is certain photos for ass worship. My problem with ATK Premium is that I don't enough satisfaction for my own formula-driven "needs."
But it's not always the case. With certain photographers, they hit it nicely, at least sometimes. But Alica S, whose photography has been very prominent at the site recently, doesn't do it the way I want it very often at all. I don't care for the strange skin colorings that she produces, either.
But at least there was one set recently of Brea Bennett that Alicia S did that really hit the mark for me. It was indeed an exception, though.
The photographers who try to change their ways do run the risk of doing things new that won't be liked very much, either. Peter Hegre was doing food smearing and such for a spell, thanks to some knobs who kept encouraging it on his forum, and I just hated that stuff! Hope that little experiment is over for good.

Yeah Toby can be frustrating as his sets have their own look but but not as crisp as I would like. Its like he wants to look amateurish or something. At least they made him pull back a bit and shoot more full body shots instead of all closeups like he used to do. And you are right he does get some of the best models. I'd love to see a few other photographers shoot the same girls just for comparison.
The everlasting quest for the older ladies is damn near impossible to find. If All Over 30 can't find them I doubt these other sites will. But we can hope to get more options and variety one day!
BTW you see AO30 has a few newer girls late 40's and early 50's and I see they got a new girl Sandra who is 64.
Very good and complete review. I hate to add to the problems, but adultfriendfinder is notorious for leaving spyware counters on your computer. That alone makes me uncomfortable about the site.
In regard to the site's title: I would never even wind up at the welcome page of a site with a name like that. I ended up subscribing at one site, or network, more correctly, with a real dud of a name because of a rewiew here. It's called Monster Pimps. The network is very docile and tame and is mostly about softcore shots of cheerleaders, with a few mild HC sites. Monster Pimps sounds like the EXACT opposite of that. Old Spunkers makes me think of gray-haired retirees at a Pinocle table suddenly feeling an itch in the diapers.
