Hi Messmer,
thanks so much for your very detailed emails earlier this week.
To everyone:
It's very difficult for us to diagnose speed issues with users. Typically someone will login to pornusers and complain about speed, or email me and then never reply again. This doesn't help us figure out what the problem might be, or if there really is a problem. Usually (don't hit me) it's an ISP or routing issue. We try and get in contact with everyone who posts issues and resolve them - we're in the business of happy!
This week Messmer took some time out and tested download speeds for us and provided valuable and specific feedback. You should know he also refused gratuities from me as well so that he can remain objective. You guys are lucky to have him looking out for you.
The result of the testing has been a small network tweak and a big change in download speeds that everyone will benefit from. I invite you to try it out. We're also in the process of a larger upgrade that we hope will boost speeds even further for downloads and streaming.

I've joined this site 3x total, about every 4-6 months or so just to catch up and see what's "new." Gotta say, I put my CC away quickly when I saw the rate hike, and especially the "Premium" channels. What a crock of shit. This implies that what you are paying for is sub-par material unless you upgrade to Premium. Light-bulb moment ... it is. Just browsing the newer DVD's over the past couple months, I completely agree that Vid-Box has jumped the shark and that everything posted looks like repackaged and recycled tattooed silicon porn. That said, if the price were still the same I STILL may have joined again. It appears VB is not happy with the ga-jillions of dollars they already raked in from us and now must try to squeeze another gallon of gas from me - not gonna happen.
TBP should pay attention and start listening to their users too if they want to remain credible. Of course, VB probably pays them handsomely for referral sign-ups so there's not much motivation there either.

Since this is my first time then, I'm pleased with their content.
So much so that I will probably keep my membership for an extra month. This will be the first time I do that(at least on purpose).
I do agree with your March 29 conment that although they are on top. They will have to add a lot more variety if they want to keep their existing members. I find the addition of Evil Angel's and Vivid's movies to be a good step in that direction. They need to make more deals with more studios to get access to their content.
I will gladly pay more for a greater variety of content, but in return I will not pay for crappy movies. I just checked and from the last 20 movies added: 2 are Vivid, 1 is EA, and maybe half of the others are worth a quick look at. If my math is good then that means that under my current membership only 8 movies are worth it.

Hi messmer. You are right that normally I would have given the site a smaller score because of the amount of sub-standard or repackage content. In this case I felt that with a library of 6000+ movies. Even if half are less than impressive then that still leaves 3000 movies. The other reason is price. I've been a member of AEBN and
Hot Movies for years and I can guarantee you that, I paid a shit load more cash to stream many of the movies/scenes that are now on my hard drive.
I gave DP Fanatics and Lez Cuties some high scores. Both of these belong to a network that has at least 50% sub-standard/non exclusive material. In their case, the score was because the good content was all exclusive and of such greta quality.
In many ways I feel rather stupid for not having joined Videobox sooner. All the cash that I paid for streaming site makes me a little sick right now.

I've been a member of the site a few times and am one currently. So I've had access to their library long enough to get almost all the back content from their library that I want.
The really do need to start bringing in more new niche content or just something slightly different. I'm probably going to stay a way for 6 months.
I guess this site doesn't deserve all the praise it gets here, but relatively speaking it's still a top site IMHO. We've all seen what's out there and most internet sites are a ripoff.

I suppose you are right but this site has some downright hags :) I am quite open to all women and I even don't mind some more of the 'ugly' women going at it or you could even say plain janes. This site has a lot of beautiful older women and plain janes. However, I lump these two categories in terms of attractiveness together because I think they both have great qualities that most can agree on. I am not trying to sound superficial but I understand that concept of others finding certain qualities better than others. As I think I said in a post on the forum, I think the overall consensus of men know what an attractive woman is and can agree on what a total hag is. Were talking about porn here and I'm not gonna get in to personality cause that's a whole diff concept. For example, a plain jane can be totally hot to me cause she is totally down to earth and a playboy bunny can be totally disgusting to me because she's a downright bitch. However, in porn, I wanna see the playboy bunny and not the plainer jane if I have a choice. And by looking at anilos, I see this concept being put in to the place. That site looks great as far as the content is and I think they are on a great pace to give this place a run for their money. So I guess what I'm trying to say is if the standards were lifted just a little, I'd prolly give this a low score in the 90's, maybe it's opinion based but it's just how I feel. However, I prolly would deduct points if they went out and got these 20 something 'milfs' I see on all these other 'mature' sites. Maybe, if they would just not worry about updating so much, they can find better quality models. And by the way, I don't mind a 'lesser' attractive model being thrown in to the mix every once in awhile, just not daily :)

I don't think I have, but unless I've missed something in the rules, I don't think there's a stipulation that says we can't use price as a factor in our reviews. TBP just decided that they wouldn't use it as a factor. I never agreed with that decision but it's not my site and not my call. I know the cost of a site versus what you get for your money is always a consideration with me. Unless it's a niche site that covers that niche well, I expect to get a big menu to choose from. That's why Videobox used to be a 90+ site to me. At first, there was still tons of stuff I wanted for my collection and it was... well.. great! Now, as you and other people are starting to see, it's just more of the same, more of the same, more of the same.
I've thought about the age factor too, and there might be be some truth to it. But, what it really comes down to, is just what all you've seen before. It's only natural that the older we get, the less new things we'll see. But that expsoure to new things isn't uniform. Our reactions to those things aren't uniform either. If that doesn't make sense, let me put up a little almost algebraic-like scenario.
By age X, Person A may have seen all the amateur porn they care to see and they're just done with it. By the same age, Person B may have seen twice as much amateur porn as Person A but still can't get enough of it. (I think I'm person B, by the way)
And that's why I think Videobox keeps getting the reviews it does. At a time when more and more sites are going over the $30 a month mark, they still enough variety and enough content, for very little money, to keep people interested. I do agree that they'll need to expand their content if they want to keep people coming back multiple times. Hopefully they'll see that themselves and do something about it. I just don't expect it to happen tomorrow.
All of this is what confounds the hell out of me when it comes to Brazzer's - sure it's dirt cheap, with plenty on the site - but I don't see near the variety there as I do on Videobox. And it, too, stays high in the ratings.

I guess it hardly needs to be said that I agree. I think these people need to start concentrating much more on quality. From comments on PU it seems they also need to get some decent customer service, and also stop going down the road of trying to trick people into paying for something they didn't intend to sign up for.

And I seriously doubt the people at Videobox care what scores we give 'em, as long as the money keeps coming in. I really don't like equating them with one of my pet peeves sites - Brazzer's - but as long as people jump at a cheap price, there's really no reason for them to stop serving up the same old crap.

BTW, we disable email support, just because we had around 10k fake emails/spam per day, so we ended up missing a lot of emails. Thats the reason why we request our members to use our customer support form.

Were you able to fix the problem and watch the videos? I'm thinking it might have to do with DRM. I guess the site used to use DRM and some of the older videos still have it. Only one video I download last year still had DRM. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't watch it on my xbox.
I bet somebody else here knows what to do.

I've downloaded quite a lot of those mp4 files from the site - and yes - they are not ALL that good (some are just as you say a bit pale - or even "milky") - but then again I found some older favorite stuff that I have in my archives ass wmv or mpg - and here they (the mp4-files) are certainly an improvement...
Guess it's not that easy to re-edit videoclips from back say 2002-2005 - even 1ByDay has not succeeded in making theirs crisp.

I'm gonna do a new review pretty soon for this site but the videos seem to be the same as the older ones. Same WMV and MPEG formats at the. They look okay I suppose but def not up to par with what I've seen on plenty of other sites.

Hi GCode, if you go to anilos.com and click on Model Directory you'll find a listing of every model. They are all great looking as far as I'm concerned but, quite naturally, some appeal to me more. Berkley is my favorite! :-) It's is still a fairly small site because it is new but I am far more content here than I was over at allover30 but only because there's a world of difference in quality when it comes to videos. Anilos' videos from mid 2008 until now are a joy to watch, Allover30s left me unimpressed. If they upped their standards I'd be back in a flash!

Great review. I have a question as far as being comparable to the other mature sites out there. I joined all over 30 earlier this month and I like the site so far... (review later) but I have noticed between the attractive ones, a lot are unattractive. Is it the same thing here? How wide spread are the truly attractive models in comparison to the unattractive. I know attractiveness varies between most people but I think you may get my drift in my example?

Your review was great. I know that nubile is a large site so why would you look for material that does not appeal to you. I like anal and unlike many others. I don't care if it's with boys of toys.
I did not think that this site ever had anal in it, but the quality of the images was so nice that I kind of hoped they did. Thank for the info.

I joined this site about two weeks ago, so maybe I have not the complete perspective...
But what immediately attracted my attention was the bad camera handling in most of the videos. Sometimes it feels like you are on a rollercoaster when the camera is shifted to a different position and you can always hear some weird creaking of the camera support.
Just an observation...
After all the site's not bad (I am more the gallery freak, not the video type) but definitely not a 95 for me.

As a longtime member of Cathy's, I can't say for a fact if a lot of the scenes on her site are "hired guns", but I can say that I've talked to Cathy both via email and phone and was invited for a party to be filmed on the website. I could not make it (I watch my porn, not star in it) but the experience leads me to remain confident that it's all real. Most men are probably like me - they don't want to actually film a scene for various reasons (anyone can see you, they like to watch not star in it, fear of diseases despite tests, etc.). The recurring men in the videos are probably the ones that constantly showed up so now they're comfortable shooting with those guys because they're reliable and there hasn't been any new & serious guys.
