A sad state of affairs.
I largely concur with your views & have recently cancelled my subscription.
The hardcore was generally marked low, so I can only think I am not the only one that doesn't wish to see it there.
I stand by my earlier comment about the sloppy editing & I wish there were a function for user defined custom zips.
It would save a lot of disk space for me! ;0)
It is also a shame there is no dedicated forum for the site members to air their views.

Sure, it's not without some lookers, but it's a real time sink finding them amongst the rest.

You mention True Crypt - tried to Google it - but how do you go about protecting especially those external drives?

On second thought, malikstarks, maybe I won't subscribe just yet. Just took their tour one more time to help me make the decision and while the sample movies looked good the dimensions according to TBP are 640x380, 1400 bitrate, not exactly cutting edge. There are also far too few of them, 25, TBP also lists only 31+ picture sets (facts updated late Sept.'09). Tried to find an update schedule on the site, none listed, TBP lists one a week! Attempted to view a sample picture and got the sign-up page .. so I think while the site looks promising I'll wait for a while until it builds up its offerings.

I went to check out the Sophie Moon site as suggested looking it up here on PU, the first thing I saw was a comment that it was not being updated. The comment stated "...the last update to her site is dated 12/26/08". ::Sigh::

I've noticed the past week or two that downloads have gotten extremely slower. Not just an isolated deal - the downloads have gotten slower. I get the jerky streaming sometimes, but if I pause for a minute and then start watching, no problem. Looks like it just buffers slower when you initially pull it up.

You must be using a newer version of FF. When I do the above, I only get one line, so I have no idea what the other one is. The one with the 6 has to be the same as what I'm looking at - you need some number of connections allowed, so I would try changing the one that one to an 8 or even 10 and see if you get more connections at the site. There's no need to be nervous about any configs you do because you can always simply change it back to what it was. If you're worried about forgetting what you changed, just open Notepad and paste the line you put in the filter and the default number and save it.

I mean, great review! Given your thread on the forum, I found myself looking at this site and you just saved me $25. I might've been able to deal with the limited content and the so-so resolution, but obtrusive logos, hit or miss updates and ignored emails just don't cut it with me.
As far as the connections thing goes, are you sure it's the site and not a Firefox limit? Might be worth trying this:
- Type "about:config" (without quotes) in the address window and hit Enter
- In the filter window, type "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server" (also without quotes)
- Double click on the line that's left and raise the number.
- Click OK and restart Firefox.
That might do the trick.

I currently have a 4 month subscription and yes sometimes its jerky, but most of the time its fine. It might have to do the the load on the server at given times of the day.

As I say, with this DownThemAll plug-in to Firefox, it's pretty straightforward, just like saving any file. You right click on a scene that you want to save, below the usual options such as "Save link as", you'll see an option to "Save Link with DownThemAll!", you choose that option, a "DownThemAll!" window will open, which is also very straight-forward. It has a clear place where it says "Save files in" so that you can direct the file exactly where you want it to be. You click "Start" and it starts and displays a nice window so that you can see the progress - at the bottom it shows the speed at that moment, next to the file itself it shows you the average speed - because I may get speeds of 2.02mb/sec for a moment or two, but my average download speed is 515.2kb/sec.
Repeat as you go. If I'm too much of a tech-moron to answer your question correctly here, I would recommend the forum.
Good luck - I hope it solves your problem - there's too much good stuff on Videobox to suffer with 88 kb/sec downloads.

Have you tried using a download manager? The web-master from DDF recommended "DownThemAll", which is a plug-in to Firefox, so it works right from your browser - you right click to download and using DownThemAll is an immediate option - the simplicity is great for a tech-moron like myself.
I get speeds of 515 kb/sec from Videobox and virtually every other site I've used this download manager with any hour of the day or night.

They are pretty annoying, especially considering that the newest videos max out at 1280 x 720, and the watermarks are not the smallest around. Older ones have that annoying crown logo, but newer ones have "DDFProd.com" in the lower right hand corner, with a small crown on it.
