If a site has good material, then it can be worth joining for a month, even tho the site does not update.
After that month, when I've had the chance to download everything I want from the site, there's no longer any reason to be a member. Especially since the site is not updating.

The important factors for me in rating or joining a site are:
-content quality
-content quantity
-site ease of use
-price
If the site has good-looking models, quality pics, and it gets a high score, then I will at least look at the site, to see if it's worth joining.
A low score for the type of site I'm interested in means I probably won't even look at the site.
But score by itself is just one factor. I'm more interested in the type of site, and then the other factors I use in rating a site.

I'm picky about the porn I like. So most of the porn sites that I would visit as a porn reviewer would not really appeal to me. And I would have a heck of a time trying to score them based on the scoring system that TBP reviewers use. I use a gut feel on my scores, based on content quality, quantity, site ease of use, and price.
That's also the way I try to figure out if a site is worth joining, for me.

As long as the trial is full access to the site, you should be able to write a review of the site. It doesn't take that long for most PU members to judge a site.
You won't see the entire contents of a mega-site in a few days, but you should get the basic feel of the site quality and contents, of the pix and vids offered.
If the review is based on a trial membership, that should be clearly mentioned in the review.

In the past, I've been a 1-year member at met-art, metmodels, and hegre-art, and was a member of domai and glamdeluxe for over 1 continuous year.
But most sites I join are for 1 month.
Met-art might be worth another 1-year membership for me. But the other sites would be a 1-month membership.

Without plot, there is no meaning to the story. How can you have two or more people having sexual intercourse without the deepest, most meaningful interaction of two souls uniting?
Perhaps, with solo masturbation, there might be less necessity for a long prelude before the action. Everyone knows that if you don't have to wait for your partner's climax, that you can cum whenever the mood or finger of fate strikes.
This is probably one of the stranger poll questions I have yet seen. I sincerely hope my comment does honor to this issue.

Webmasters are human. Can they lose or misplace files? Sure, why not? Not everyone is as organized as efficiently as everyone else. And it's human nature for some people to try to promote themselves, so if they find some older pics and vids, they can say, "Hey, look at this great stuff we found."
On the other hand, they can also promote some pics and vids that were never really lost, but just say that the material was lost.
I know that I lose files on my hard drive all the time. I want to see pics of some girl, I can find some of them, but I know there're other pics of her somewhere. But where?
Need to organize my hard drive better. Just one more thing to do.

The major sites already have high res photos. Going to still higher res photos would just take up even more space on the hard drive, so I don't see the point of that, except for bragging rights.
Better videos would be nice. That's different from higher res videos. Videos that are shot and edited better, that are more erotic, would be a real plus.
But the easiest thing to improve would probably be easier site navigation.

Maybe a lawyer should answer this topic, but I would guess that you could be cited for reading a porn magazine in a bar. In some areas you could be cited for smoking in a bar. You do drugs in a bar, you could be cited.
I don't think you could be cited for driving a SUV to a bar, unless you broke some law while driving.
I also don't think you could be cited for wearing a "Jesus Saves" jacket in a bar.
Those are my opinions, but I am not a lawyer.
So when you say that porn is socially tolerated, you are speaking very broadly. Porn is not socially or legally tolerated in many public areas.

I think porn is more tolerated today than back in the 1960s. But how far have we really come, as a society? America is still uptight and ready to police your neighbor for any and all activity outside the mainstream. And porn is definitely outside the mainstream.

A few current votes on a past poll would have little effect on most people. How many PU members actually go over past polls every few months to see what was voted for, and to see the results?

Definition of porn: writing or pictures or films etc. of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire.
I think Playboy (and softcore sites like Met-art and others) have nude pictures, but the pictures have value beyond sexual stimulation. Porn is a derogatory word, like smut. I don't think Playboy or Met-art is smut. That's my personal opinion.
But there's also nothing wrong with sexual stimulation. You look at a picture of a beautiful or attractive woman, you don't feel some desire or appreciation, maybe you're more dead than alive.
