Pros:
- Most likely the internet's biggest site, as of 4-28-09 has 6,235 DVDs, should eclipse 35,000 scenes later today.
- Recent additions of new studios has improved their model coverage, with dozens of videos from European studios.
- Quality, though varying, on DVD quality files is well above average
- Five full DVDs per day
- 10 month membership for DVD quality for $99
- Though there are search engine problems, they do allow studio search, which usually is good enough for me to find what I like.
- Covers most fetishes at least to some degree, have a breakdown in the BL
Cons:
- Those new premium channels have already pissed me off. One of my favorite "classic" actresses is Taylor Hayes, I did a search for her to find to my surprise 18 scenes of the lovely, leggy goddess, clicked her name to start downloading only to find out ALL 18 scenes were on the Vivid premium channel. That is how you piss a customer off.
- No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to get all the content from here that I want because the search engine does have problems and will give example in BL.
Bottom Line:
Videobox to me is at the point where everyone wants to be, but once they get there they realize there is only one way to go and that is down.
They do everything they promise, 5 new DVDs per day, very good quality, I've seen videos from here with bitrates as high as 5,000 and resolution as high as 720.
While talking to a friend about porn, I mentioned the deal you get when you join videobox and I think it was pretty well taken. Imagine going to a store, maybe a video store and they hand you a box with 150 porn DVDs in it and say you can have it for $15. I really don't know many guys that would pass that up, and that is what you get with a videobox subscription. A total of 150 new DVDs per month for $15, and you throw in the oh by the way, you also get access to 6,200 other DVDs too.
If I was a strictly video lover, this would be the only site I would need to join to get those. It is kind of like having an adult video store in your computer.
My one major complaint is the search engine. A good example will use my favorite porn model Eve Angel. Eve rarely appears on DVDs and most are from early in her career, but here are my search results for her on videobox.

Actual Eve Angel scenes out of those 10 results was FIVE.
So there was five search results that were not Eve Angel. Now lets add to this, Eve, earlier in her career went by the name Severine, and on a very rare occasion as Seurine. There probably are plenty of fans out there who do not know that she went by those names since many didn't know she did hardcore scenes early in her career under a different name. So, I search the most common spelling as Severine, and get 0 results. I search the rare spelling of Seurine and get 2 results, and both are Eve Angel.
All of her videos on videobox that are hardcore have 5 stars, it would look like to me that someone on their site would at least take the time to move those 2 rare ones under her Eve Angel name, other sites have that have those clips, so VB should as well.
Fetishes and new studios they have added. The great work of Viv Thomas and Private studios now have a combined 113 DVDs on the site now, these are almost exclusively European actresses and that means around 550 new(er) Euro scenes.
I just think VB has set the bar so high that they open themselves to criticism that other sites won't face. My main point in my bottom line is that a 94 might be too low, they do everything they say and with the addition of the varied studios are getting some rare DVDs that are even hard to buy from the actual studios.
If that search engine was better, not so much the engine itself, just the naming of models, this site would probably receive a 4-5 point raise from me and if they didn't tease me with those premium channels, I would probably go 100. Highly recommended!

Hey Khan, I ran CCleaner and was still seeing a completely different page that had much higher prices. I reset my connection to the cable modem, went back and now I am seeing the special price of $14.95, I really don't know what caused the other page with the higher prices to show up. Should I just edit the comment or can you remove it? Whichever would be easier for you all.

Just type the amount in and what you want to convert it to. The dollar had been picking up steam, I was about to post a comment last week about the European sites that said they raised their prices because the dollar value was falling, but the dollar took another fall this week.
I use Free Download Manager,looks like they would have gotten a more definitive name since it just sounds like someone is saying a free download manager!
You can get it below. It has an option in it to scan for viruses. I've used it off and on for probably 3-4 years now, and have never had any signs of viruses from it. The company that owns it is a pretty reputable one. It doesn't even have ads on it like most download managers do.
I switched over to using Free Download Manager, and it fixed the problem. I had been just using the Firefox download manager. FDM hasn't had one error and is getting right at 100% speed for me. I have a 10 M connection, so my top speed will run at around 1,200 kb/s. Running two downloads at the same time in FDM, keeps a steady 600 kb/s on each one.
The DVD videos on videobox do vary. I just downloaded some earlier today. Here is one to check out to see the 720x480. Title of DVD is BJ Babes. Those are 720. I do believe the difference between 640 and 720 high end has to do with whether shot in widescreen format or normal format.
I am a pretty regular member at VB, probably 3-4 months out of every year, but on my current subscription there, I am having a lot of trouble with downloads.
Probably half of my downloads stop halfway through downloading and the error, "Could not read source file, contact administrator" comes up. So, I have to refresh the download and start over. I'm not for sure if they are limiting connections as I usually have 6-8 going at a time. Which I wouldn't mind if they are limiting connections, but would like to know in advance so I don't waste time downloading too many at a time, only to have to start over.
Oh and everything else is going fine on VB. They are starting to get more and more of the "tier A" studio DVDs.
I had this happen to me on Eve Angel's site last year. The payment processor said that there is only a certain amount of months they can recur your account, without opening a new account. I don't know if this is some kind of new rule or maybe it could even depend on who you have your card with, they could be stopping it after so many months since there are so many scams these days that charge a person's card every month without them even noticing. The limit on mine was 12 months, after that, I had to go back and re-register. So, I wouldn't count on it being VB's fault. I know there has been a scam going where a place calls and says you have won X amount of free gas, to confirm your birthday, by pressing it in and somehow, they then have you "confirmed" into a coupon club that costs $15 a month. Then again, you aren't likely to get an answer from VB, I've sent them a dozen or so support mails over the years and never received a reply.
I was hoping you wouldn't take my reply wrong, and think I was having an attitude. I'm not really into the high tech computers myself. Just bought a new one this past Christmas and went ahead and got the bigger monitor. And thought I would share my experiences with it compared to the more regular monitors.
It also could be the bitrate of the videos that is causing the blurriness or not clear parts. I just joined porn.com the other day, they have pretty nice resolution 640 high end, but their WMV are only 1,000k bitrate, their DIVX files are the same resolution but are 2,000k bitrate and look much nicer. The bitrate seems to be where the smoothness of the video shows.
As I was telling apoctom, this new computer that my wife bought me for Christmas is a real monster of a computer, it has the top end video card in it and over 4000 RAM, so I probably am going to get clearer videos just by default because the computer is so fast and powerful.
I also think the file type can make a difference. Which is why I think in the TBP reviews you can notice where there take away for sites not giving many download options of file types. Try some DIVX files with a high bitrate and see if they don't look clearer to you. I'm starting to think WMV files are no longer the best.
Last, the bitrate also effects the size of the file, I had forgot to mention that in my last post. Those two videos that I used as examples in the other post have a large difference in bitrates as well. Both are Eva Angelina clips. Fabulous has a 4,586k bitrate which is very fast, but Don't Hide it, Divide It has a 7,540k bitrate which is extremely fast. I had read your post about the 1byday re-releases, that is what they are doing to those, raising the resolution and raising the speed of the bitrate.
I'm not quite technically savvy enough to say that a video card would make a huge difference, but I know a video card can make a difference in the frames per second that a video game runs at, which makes it smoother. That could be something you could look into. A good video card doesn't cost much over $100, and are a snap to put in, no technical ability required. But do try that with the DIVX clips and let me know if those look clearer than the WMV ones, so I can make sure I'm not losing my mind! Talk to you later.
Hey Apoctom, the monitor I am using is a LG L246WP-BN, I stumbled across it around Christmas for $549. I've been really happy with it, except it isn't that practical for everyday uses. Like typing emails, or even posting here, the resolution is so high 1920x1200, that you have to up the text size to the largest just to be able to read it. It makes some sites look strange too, like the General Entertainment sites, the actual calendar that shows their updates only takes up about 1/4th of the screen.
My wife has a 17 inch regular LCD not wide, that works better for everyday tasks, and is what I use for most of the things I do on the internet. My entertainment computer had a GeForce 8600 GTS video card in it, and really it worked great, but I was caught up in the 9600 GT and recently upgraded to it. Also have 4GB of DDR RAM.
Not really for sure why I went this high end since I'm not really much of a PC gamer, preferring console games, but it sure makes my videos look nice!
Also, if you get some of those high resolution pictures like on Babelicious or Met-Art, it looks like you have a poster on your desk with the 24 inch monitor. Thanks for the reply.
I don't think it is something Videobox is doing. My understanding is that they buy the rights to the DVD then post just as it is on the DVD. Some studios use 640 high end as DVD resolution, others use 720 on the high end. As far as I know VB doesn't alter the videos at all. I'm not for sure with their multi-updates per day that they would even have time to alter the scenes.
I think the difference you are looking at between high and DVD is 480x352 is the top "high" quality. 720x480 is the top "DVD" quality. The average DVD quality clips are 640x480.
There really could be a difference depending on the size and type monitor you have. I have two computers, my wife uses one for business, it has a 17 inch regular view LCD monitor, on it, I can't tell much difference between the high and DVD videos. On my entertainment computer, I have a 24 inch HD widescreen monitor and I can tell a big difference between the high and DVD clips.
It is the page that comes up when you go to videobox dot com. If it comes up as the page that shows updates, then your cookies haven't been cleared in awhile. She is also on the update page though without the green bikini, smallish brunette, just her and a blonde on that page. I think it depends on if you clear your cookies since it is the intro/warning page, once you join, I believe it just starts you out on the page with the new DVDs. Used to I would get the page that had all the 5 star and high ratings to start with, but they have altered it now to show 4 women, one of them is a brunette with a micro-thong lime green bikini on. I sent videobox feedback on their new beta version of their site, and asked in it about the girl, but I don't know if they will reply to it or not. She is a really sexy woman. Though I don't download a lot of DVDs, preferring individual model sites, I usually have a good knowledge of models especially the brunettes. She kind of reminds me of Peaches, the Euro model, but Peaches is very tall, this model doesn't look very tall.
VB definitely has improved their site, something that I thought was near impossible to do. Now if I could get them to put a Download Full DVD link, the site would be perfect!
While I'm not a huge fan of DVD sites, I do join videobox about 3-4 times a year. I've always loved the simplicity of the site and how user friendly it is. But, even I would say the site was starting to look stale, it has looked the same for over two years.
The new change sees videobox taking a page from American Vice DVD site. Search within a search. Which to me is a great idea and should be on all DVD sites. Like if you search, "Latina" the Latina DVDs come up, you can then search "Anal sex" it will narrow all of those Latina DVDs down to ones with Anal Sex in them. I have only one complaint that I also sent in on their feedback thingamajig. At first, I couldn't find the download button. I kept clicking it, but it kept wanting to stream it. Finally, I noticed a little arrow on the button that you click and the resolution options pop up.
I guess my favorite part of the new look is the index page.

It depends on which pay option you pick. Regular price for the ability to download DVD resolution is $17.99, you can get it by going through TBP for $14.99, the $9.99 doesn't give you DVD resolution option to download.
The last one I downloaded was "Bait #4" the screen resolution on it using the DVD option is 640x480. Which is pretty good, not bad, but not great. From what I have noticed, the age of the movie no longer matters as long as you pay the $14.99 for the DVD resolution, I may be wrong on that, but all of those DVD resolution clips seem to be about the same size (in the 500 meg range.)
I would like to see them bump the quality up some, but considering the low price and amount of content they have, 640x480 will do. Hope that helped.

Bottom Line:
I first joined videobox back about two years ago. I usually prefer solo or multi-model sites over DVD sites since I don't have a lot of fetishes.
I would still rate videobox the best value for your money IF you are just in the video collection group. There are no pictures, which I didn't list as a con since it is a site named "video"box. I do think the ability to cut videos is a great feature, especially for those with 56k internet, on the other hand, I wish they would give us that have fast connections the option of just downloading the whole DVD with one click. I think that is only fair.
A lot of what I like in porn is the sensual, tease side of it, so I have no reason to cut the early parts out of the clips. The selection of videos is getting better by the day. Something that I think videobox had a better vision for was the comment section on the videos. Some are funny, but most just annoy and often change my mind about downloading a clip.
I also have problems with my download manager working with the site. It will do fine on 3-4 clips, then it will stop and say, "invalid login name" on the manager, even though I have the name and password stored on it. I tried recently with around 200 clips in the manager while I was at work. It finished 8 of them, then stopped. Another DVD site that I reviewed does the same thing. All in all though, if it movies you want, this is the best choice to start with! I recommend it especially for new porn downloaders.

- Plenty of classic stars, scenes and DVDs too.

Cons:
- There’s a reason a site can have nearly 30,000 DVDs, add two per day, nearly 150,000 scenes and 20,000 porn stars. A lot of it is bargain bin level. It used to be a lot of fun to try and sift through all these scenes to try and find that one diamond in the rough. Your mileage will (not may) vary. Bottom line will explain my method.
- Navigation is starting to become useless. I use the genre tab but even then, there’s a good chance someone used the wrong tag or forgot a tag.
Bottom Line:
When you join a DVD site you should know what you’re getting into. While there are DVDs from top studios across the world, there are some that are just a thrown together DVD of 5-6 similar scenes to fit the theme of the DVD’s title. You shouldn’t be expecting anything groundbreaking or revolutionary. These types of sites started with one main focus. Quantity. And for a long time, it was quantity over quality. I’m talking about technical quality. I don’t remember when the DVD sites started landing HD DVDs but Videosz does seem to be at the front of that group. They have over 10,000 DVDs that are in HD quality. If you’re not used to DVD porn, you may need to know this. Each DVD has 4-6 scenes on it. That means there are over 50,000 scenes on Videosz that are in HD quality.
I approach a DVD site the same way I have for around 10 years. Before that, I searched by model and that’s the easiest way to build yourself a large collection of your favorite model(s). There are models on here with over 100 scenes. I got out of that method as more and more of my favorite models kept retiring or god forbid … aging. I thought porn was fiction?
I started focusing on the niches, genres, fetishes and the specifics. You will find that these DVD sites are very good about filling your fetish needs. Even better than sites that revolve around one fetish. Who cares if it’s not exclusive? That kind of went out the window a decade ago. If I haven’t seen it, it’s exclusive and new to me. Here on Videosz they have 1,110 Handjob scenes, it’s likely higher than that. The numbers are usually a little behind. Even so, that’s bigger than any handjob site on the internet. If you like your scenes with at least four people, they have almost 3,000 of those scenes. If you like lesbian scenes they have over 13,000. I’m positive no lesbian site has that many scenes. If your fetishes and kinks included handjobs, lesbian and group sex scenes you just found the biggest source for all 3.
That is the value in a DVD site. The price is cheap. HD downloads on many of the scenes and you really don’t have to focus that much on what content you’re looking for since you should already know.
Videosz has pushed forward and started adding scenes from genres that go a little outside the straight sex world. They now have bisexual men and transsexual. The bisexual scenes are only around 500 according to their numbers and transsexual scenes are 1,400. You get a large variety of genres and a large amount of scenes. The only thing I can find to really complain about is a site like this one would be perfect for someone new to porn. You could try out all of the different genres and niches to see what you like and what you don’t. But I feel like a person new to porn would just be overwhelmed on the site. There’s so much content and a lot of it isn’t good. I have always recommended sites like this one to experienced collectors that are tired of joining a site that only covers one genre.
Everything works well in the navigation unless you start getting too specific. There are tags that you can click to find similar scenes. It’s just too much content to go through that. What ends up happening, you will want to use more than 1 tag for your search and the tags start breaking if you use more than one. If you chose Teen, then chose handjob. It may give you Teens giving handjobs but it also may mix it all up. That was also always a problem for DVD sites.
It's still a good and relevant site that is worth joining maybe every other year.

It's the biller that is doing it and if you look up echst.net you will see they bill for all the Met-Art sites. They do not bill for Bang Bros.

As hard as it is to believe Bang and Bang Bros are in no way related. Bang is a newer massive DVD site like Videosz. Bang and Videosz are owned by the same company.
Do you know who the biller was? I only ask because RearAdmiral and I had trouble with echst.net. They were billing for Bang last year and I wondered if Videosz is using them. Either way, their owners SCTR are a good company by porn standards.
