Upgrade their servers again? That implies that they've done so in the past! With these speeds it is as if they have an old Atari as their server.
With LP, I'm willing to overlook their quirky ways because there isn't really anyone else like them out there. I even overlooked their requirement that your account had to be verified but at least they've dropped that now. As for pricing, it doesn't happen often, but there are some scenes that can hit near 8 tickets. I realize this is supply-and-demand, but the scenes with A-list American models tend to be priced the highest.

You're right. I just ran a speed test and I got 311 Mbps, which is obviously quite different from 311MBps. I didn't know the difference until now. Thanks for pointing that out.
I just did a test and downloaded a scene from Evil Angel and IDM showed I was getting 40 MB/s. It took maybe 30 seconds to download a 1.68GB scene. I thought that maybe I was capped at downloads but I now see that if I'm getting 40MB/s that's probably much closer to my capacity than I thought.
Thanks for shedding some light on that for a non-tech guy.
But... I get 40MB/s from Evil Angel and get less than 1/40th of that from Legal Porno. I'm still mad at them!

I agree that their pricing structure is confusing but at least they did away with the requirement to confirm your valid credit card before you could download.
I joined here a while back and it was definitely the most expensive site membership I've ever had but I still think it is a good value. This is really good hard-edged porn with top European and Russian models in scenes with high production values. I'll definitely be rejoining at some point. And one commenter here figured out that the best deal is the three-month membership.

I wondered how long they could continue with this practice. While their porn isn't mainstream it isn't niche enough to make prospective members jump through so many hoops. The high price alone will deter buyers so why would they add to the impediments?

Thanks for weighing in on this thread. You make some valid points that will be useful for anyone else considering a membership here.
Towards the end of my one-month membership I realized that I needed to think about the site differently from a traditional membership-based site. I really did need to be more selective, but that isn't a bad thing. The next time I join (and there will be a next time with a three-month membership) I'll go in knowing that I need to approach things differently.
One point you mention that didn't occur to me but really needs to be highlighted is the sheer number of updates available here. It may have been me who contrasted LP with Kink. if I did it was more about the type of porn rather than the frequency of uploads, but you're right: this site adds a lot. And what they upload isn't cheap to make so buyers should expect to pay more.
I've always made the point that I'm willing to pay for porn because that means that more porn will be produced. The LP model is a clear example of that.
I'd agree that even with the confusing business model, the quantity of some unique and amazing porn makes this a best-in-class site. Admittedly this is a small class, but LP rules it.

Thanks for taking the time to add your comments. I really like this site but their business model is certainly unusual. The porn they offer is certainly unlike anything else on the internet (that I've seen, and I'm an active buyer).
Thanks for noting that with the three-month membership there is an option to buy tickets at a discounted price. Another commenter figured out that the three-month option is the best deal but your information makes it clear that this is definitely the best way to go. I'll likely rejoin in six months or so, and when I do I'll follow the excellent advice I've been given here.

I compare it to a company like Kink.com that has some porn that pushes the envelope a bit but still uses the traditional subscription model. The Kink shoots have to cost as much or more than the LP stuff does. Apart from VOD sites I don't know of any other site that bills subscribers like this. And I hope there aren't many others...

Thanks for the comment. I said it earlier, but it bears mentioning again: when your site takes three experienced porn buyers to figure out you may be doing it wrong. I'm sure their porn is expensive to make - many scenes have multiple models and most feature some extreme acts - but I agree that if they simplified their business model they could improve sales. I first heard about LP on another forum and it was raised by someone who asked a legitimate question as to whether the site even took memberships from outside Europe. That may be a silly question for any other site, but this one is so complex to join and use it was a valid question.

There are definitely three different types of scenes: those that are free to members, those that cost 'free' tickets and those that cost 'premium' tickets. But the 1500+ videos listed in the free section are definitely free for members. No tickets need to change hands. I only encountered three scenes in the many I downloaded that cost free tickets. I don't even know how a member earns those.
You might be exactly right about the LP scenes being in the free section but still needing a free ticket. That might also be the answer to your earlier question about actual LP scenes being in the free section. Since I only encountered three that required free tickets maybe that's an indication of how few are available without premium tickets.

You may be right that nothing has been added to the free section since August. Even inside the site I have no way to sort but the latest video there does appear to be that old.
I really don't have much experience with Russian and Eastern European porn so I wasn't aware of the possibility that the free stuff might be licenced from somewhere else. I'm fairly sure that I've downloaded some free videos shot in that white room but I could be wrong.
I was surprised that the videos weren't available in 1080p too. For a site that charges a premium price the quality is lower than it should be. At least the option should be available.

Thanks for the comments pat. Your original comment was a big help to me. I know I'd have been pissed off if I had joined this site without having the information you provided. I'll answer your questions in the order you asked them:
1) A lot of is like that. There are extreme gapes, large toys, hard anal, pee play, stuff like that. DAP seems to be something they pride themselves in. There are even a few TAP scenes with models like Proxy Paige who are known for extreme acts. This isn't normal hardcore porn. You're certainly right that the focus is not usually on the woman's pleasure.
2) Hard to say. They're less 'medical exam' and more 'endurance test.' I'm not sure how to quantify sterile, but the scenes have none of the sexual tension that I like. But I knew that going in.
3) That's really subjective. It does push the boundaries but it isn't unpleasant to look at. Certainly anyone who prefers artcore wouldn't be happy with this kind of porn.
4) I think there is an element of that. I don't find the makeup is often overdone, but the clothes tend to the garish. My preference would be for a more natural look. You can't go wrong with natural.
I'm fairly sure I've missed the mark in some of these answers so feel free to ask anything else. I'll try to be objective in any answers I give you.

Let me get one thing out of the way first: my opinion on this site is vastly different from pat362’s and I want to explain why. Pat’s comments are true, accurate and valid and if he hadn’t posted those I would have not known that this site was VERY different from everything else I’ve ever joined. If I hadn’t had the information that pat posted I would have written the same thing as he did. BUT… having been forewarned by pat that this site uses a completely different business model I was prepared for that and willing to join anyway. I’m grateful for pat’s comment since I went in with the full knowledge of what I was getting.
Further to the above, I think it is more accurate to think of this site as a store rather than a normal porn site. You pay your membership fee and that gets you access to 1500+ free scenes but if you want the newest stuff (less than a year old) you have to pay an additional amount. The flaw is that this can be an expensive way to get porn. But if this is the kind of porn you like then you’ll like it a lot.
One aspect that pat commented on was the ‘attestation’ requirement. After you buy a membership you have to prove that you own the credit card you used. The process is simple: the site deducts a small amount from your card. You log on to your bank, confirm the amount and report that back to the LP site. The amount is refunded. The process took me less than five minutes. The process is an attempt to limit piracy.
The second thing I should mention before I get into details is that this isn't mainstream porn that will interest everyone. Most of the scenes here push the limits of hardcore. Most of the scenes are at least threeways and scenes that don’t feature anal sex are rare. You’ll also find milk and cream enema and pee play. The scenes are definitely NOT artcore.
You can choose different levels of membership with the difference being how many premium tickets you want to buy upfront. Once you’re a member there are three different ‘classes’ of videos – the premium ones that you buy with the tickets you get with a membership, the ex-premium ones that you buy with free tickets (you get one free ticket per day when you’re a member) and the free videos you have access to through your membership that you need no tickets for. It appears that videos that require paid tickets move to requiring free tickets after a year. It doesn’t appear that the premium videos ever become completely free with a membership.
The site itself is a giant clusterfuck that needs to made more intuitive. I got used to it but it can be improved. Scene a model naming are a constant problem with generic meaningless names being given to scenes. Since Russian and Eastern European models change their names more than their socks I can’t entirely blame the site for that, but it’s still annoying.
Newer videos are available in two resolutions – 640x480 and 1280x720. Both are MP4. Older videos are only available in the lower resolution. I downloaded the higher resolution and those have a bitrate of 4500/kb/s so they look decent. The older scenes have a 2500 bitrate and they look okay too. Trailers are available, as are photos.
Many of the older ‘free’ scenes are available elsewhere (like Videobox) but the resolutions here are usually higher than at other sites.
I used a download manager and had no issues with it. Download speeds varied and there were some times when the speeds were slow but most of the time they were okay. Sometimes they were fast.
You can buy scenes individually without a membership. One piece of advice is that if you do want to buy a few scenes work out the cost and compare it to a membership. Buying scenes individually is VERY expensive with that cost being about 3 times the cost of the tickets for the same scenes.
I found scoring the site to be difficult and I finally settled on a fairly low score mostly for objective reasons. The biggest of those is that the site isn't easy to use: it could use a major overhaul. If I factored in my subjective opinion on the quality of the porn the score would have been higher. If you like your porn with a harder edge you’ll love the porn even if you don’t like the process to get it. I know the biggest criticism of the site will be having to pay for newer scenes, but think of the membership fee as giving access to 1500+ scenes and you can buy the newest scenes.
I’d recommend the site with four caveats: go in knowing that the porn is a lot harder than what’s available at most other sites, that the site itself is illogical, that unless you’re willing to spend a lot of money you’ll be leaving the newest scenes behind and finally that business model is unlike any other porn site. If you do decide to join go in with your eyes open. I’m glad I joined and I’ll probably rejoin again. |

The Legend Video site certainly looks like it is the official site of the well-known studio, but I have my doubts. While the quality of the site is very good, I would hope that a big studio like Legend could do a better job and would also make more of their catalogue available. But it might actually be an official site since most other studios don’t do a spectacular job of their own sites and also aren’t very generous with their titles.
Having said that though, this is still a good site. It is well organized and finding specific titles isn’t a big problem. Many of the titles available aren’t widely available on other DVD sites so this is a good opportunity to access them. One thing I particularly liked was the opportunity to access some of the older Legend series’ from the 1990 and earlier in this decade. Series like American Cocksucking Championship, All About Ass and POV Casting Couch. However, while there are a lot of older titles available, there aren’t too many of their newer titles on this site. That’s another reason why I suspect that this isn’t a Legend-operated site. I suspect that they’ve licenced some of their older material to a third party.
The site is reasonably well organized with menu selections that help you narrow movies down by theme, or series name. I particularly like being able to sort be series. There are several download options available and during my membership I found download speeds to be slightly faster than I’ve seen with other adult sites. Not blazing fast, but somewhat faster than the industry norm.
One big advantage to this site is that it offers a full trial. For $4.95 you get unlimited access for two days. This is a great option if you’re only looking for a few titles and get in, get them and get out. I’ve used this option with this site and cancelled my trial almost immediately to avoid the recurring charges and the membership remains valid for the two days (unlike some other trials we’ve heard about from other PUs). This site is also part of a small network. I’ve had memberships at several of these sites in the past but haven’t really spent much time at them so I can’t really comment. They certainly add to the value of the site though.
The bottom line is that this site offers a lot of older (5+ years old, approximately) Legend titles that are not widely available elsewhere. The site is easy to use and the download speeds are good. The site is a moderate value for the monthly fee when you take into account the other sites on the network but is an exceptional value when you take advantage of the full trial option. If you’re looking for hard-to-find older Legend titles, I’d recommend starting here. |
