Seeing as the mobile platform gets more and more support from websites the viewing experience gets better every time.
Before, I wouldn't think of watching anything on a mobile device. Now I watch it on my phone on at least a weekly, if not daily, basis.
Don't knock it until you've tried it.

If we're talking about the first, usually I find it rather unappealing.

The entertainment factor is the most important thing here in my opinion. It should be funny, not (seem) forced like most Asian porn.
This is why the US versions get my vote as these tend to be funny and sometimes even try to set records. It's very entertaining, in my opinion, to see a girl try to swallow a gallon of semen in a couple of gulps.
For some reason it's sort of erotic as well...

Ads in mobile websites are very annoying.
Ads on regular sites within the members area are still annoying, unless not very intrusive and not a pop-up. Ads with sounds are annoying as well.
Funny, mobile websites are hardly discussed.

They're just doing this to cut the cost on the product. The license fees are outrageous sometimes.
Also, many people don't even have a DVD drive anymore. So why pay for more when you won't need it?
But, you're right, it's still a bit strange.
