I'm also a current member of 21sextury, been so for about 3 months. While I cant comment on the content of this particular site, I can comment on the interface and overall experience as they are the same across the companies sites. In my first month download speeds were generally excellent but sometimes slowed to a crawl, sometimes the site would timeout with database errors and sometimes completely log me out for no reason. That said the last 2 months have been great. I have no problem with the interface but I only use basic features. For the $20 membership I think its definatly worth a punt.

Nice review, agree with pretty much all you say.
I do however have to take issue with what you say about the video quality. Only the last 15 or so scenes are MP4 and as you say they are split into 5 min chunks. The other 60 or so scenes are 640 x 480 AVI but they are not split.

On a OS drive it is still needed as things are being written and deleted all the time. The main consideration is the swap file as that is being accessed all the time. But the actual speed improvements I have never felt are worth the 3 - 4 hours it takes to defrag my main 1.5TB drive. Of course if your OS is on a solid state drive (or even if just your swap file is on a el cheapo usb stick) there is no point in ever defragging.
On my media drives there is absolutly no point defragging, I fill them up and then buy new ones.

I had a poke around and it looks like they are using Jquery encryption to send the details to the server via Javascript. So even though the address itself is not SSL encrypted, the credit card details themselves should be. Try the signup form with javascript disabled, nothing works :)

If you believe what Freud had to say on the subject, violence is the one of the most basic and fundamental parts of human existence. It is the society in which we live which controls to what level those violent thoughts and desires are acceptable. As society becomes more and more accepting of violence be it in dramatized entertainment or sport, I think it is not a great leap to believe that society will become more violent in general. Which, again if you believe Freud, will lead to happier and more content human beings as we will not be suppressing our innermost desires as much as we do today. Make of that what you will.

I think the word "porn" in this poll could quite easily be replaced with "entertainment" and my view would be the same.
When you go to mainstream movie boards like IMDB or rotten tomatoes and see horror movies rated on the brutalness of their kill scenes or even worse, when you see a more intelligent psychological horror rated down because of its lack of in your face blood and gore, it's easy to see the way things are going.
The same in porn, 5 years ago some of the more "extreme" niches, were just that, niches where you would have a handful of sites providing that type of content. These days, things like fisting, gagging, rough sex / simulated rape, BDSM are all over the place. Even the large "mainstream" networks have sites dedicated to what used to be called extreme.
It seems like what was extreme for one generation becomes normal and mainstream for the next. I shudder to think what people will consider entertainment in 10 - 20 years time. There have been a lot of sci-fi books / movies that suggest that we will be entertained by live to the death combat. I don't think that seems too farfetched....

Very true, most sites have ~3mbit/s 720P and ~5mbit/s 1080P videos. At those resolutions the bitrate needs to be at the very least 5mbit/s for 720P and 12 mbit/s for 1080P otherwise there is no point in having such a high res and can actually be worse than lower res / higher bitrate videos. What is even more annoying is when sites provide videos in 720P which are obviously upscaled from DVD which is a complete waste of disk space / bandwidth.

Yeah, just doing anal scenes on a regular basis doesnt really cut it these days. To be named a 'Anal Queen' there has to be something extra to their performance. There are boat loads of EE / Russian girls that have done many anal scenes but I would never call them all anal queens.

I always download both the videos and pictures I want and view it locally. Which is why I really hate it when sites dont provide zipped pictures. Yes with DownThemAll its still possible to download all of the pics in one go but it still takes more time than just clicking on a single link.

I organize in a way that some may consider as obsessive–compulsive, I should really have added a "all of the above" option to the poll.
First I download and organize the files into a folder based on the site name, then the episode with a renamed file based on the model or episode name.
E.g.
\AssholeFever.com
---\2010-01-03 - Some movie name
------\some actress.wmv
---\2010-01-10 - Some movie name
------\some actress.wmv
Then I import that into a database, which takes the info from the file / folder names and also reads the media info (bitrate, resolution etc) and stores it. Once imported, I use the database to add episode descriptions, small preview image and large preview image. Also the database contains models so I assign the actress alias on the site I downloaded from to the known real name. This allows me to browse by actress no matter what alias they have.
Once I have done that, I export the images and data to a xml file in each of the videos directories. this allows me to browse my collection using Windows Media Center and the MediaBrowser plug-in which displays all of the information from the XML file and also display full screen backdrops.
Everyone needs a hobby right?

At my office the internet is rock solid, never a problem that lasts more than a minute or two. At home its a different story as in my area we can only get internet via WIFI.
It doesnt need bad weather to cause problems however. Judging by how often it dies its enough for a cat, badger or something to look at the antena a bit funny and the whole thing will go down for an hour or so :(
