That's pretty cool, though maybe it means Playboy will one day be relegated to the history books and not the magazine rack. I do think they are a part of American history -- though I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing. It is pretty interesting to look through some old issues, but they do look quite quaint and dated to say the least! I cannot remember if Playboy was when I saw my first nudes, though I remember seeing my first Playboy around the time of the Jenny McCarthy era (1993 or '94). "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Nutz. That makes my collection of old Playboys worth a lot less now. I was planning on selling the set someday on eBay and retiring with no money worries. I guess I'll have to change my plans. | |

About a week ago it was reported that a first edition of the first Superman comic was sold on ebay for $317,200. The seller bought the Superman comic book used, back in the 1950s, so he probably paid around $0.25 or so. So like Denner says, there might still be some value in those old Playboys. | |

Yes, I'm with Denner. Keep your printed Playboy 'zines in a light-and-humidity-controlled incubator. They'll just grow in value. Sorry, but you can't take out that centerforld and pin it on your wall. ;) I used to have a HUGE stash of Playboys in VERY good condition. DAMN if I didn't toss them out in a poorly considered bout of moral cleansing. I was much younger than now, and too naive to appreciate my own weaknesses. But I do have an original, vinyl copy of "Vincibus Eruptum" by Blue Cheer. That's going to fetch me a nice sum one of these days. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |
