Notice About Guest Reviews Posted by Khan January 20th, 2007 Reply to Announcement |
Just before the launch of PornUsers.com, we extended certain privileges to Guest Users that were originally designed just for Registered Users. We fear that's not really working as well as we'd hoped. There's debate among the staff as to the cause of this problem. Some think it's outright attempts to skew the ratings for certain sites. Others feel it's just the nature of the anonymous reviews to allow for more extreme opinions than would otherwise be posted. Whatever the reason, the one thing we all agree on is that Guest reviews tend to hit the high and low end of the rating scale. We find it odd that, as a rule, the majority of reviews by Registered Users fall near the same range of scores as the reviewers of TBP, while those of Guest users tend to gravitate towards the far extremes, both good and bad. We've given this some thought and decided to go back to the original plan of only allowing registered users to post reviews and comments. While we don't regret testing the waters in the beginning, we now feel this change is best for the overall quality of our site. To be candid, before launch we weren't sure how many users would actually register to share their opinions about porn sites. To our pleasant surprise, we've had a lot of success with users registering. Admittedly, this makes the decision easier as we're now confident there will be ample reviews and comments for users to base their decisions on. Therefore, effective Monday (22-Jan-2007) we will no longer post Reviews or Comments from non-registered users. Also, we feel it's only fair that we remove all previously posted Guest reviews and comments. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but feel strongly that it's the right thing to do under the circumstances. It is our hope that users will find the reviews from fellow buyers of porn site memberships helpful in making their selections about which site(s) to join. We feel strongly that by allowing you to see the review history of each reviewer, you'll be in a better position to judge if that reviewer's likes, dislikes and general perspective offers you insight to base your decisions on. As always, we're dedicated to providing users a great place to learn about sites they may want to join. |
