That's funny, I always thought the more attractive models always ended up at ALS Angels, at least that's how it was in the beginning. I would read about a popular model's photoshoot in the blog at ALSScan, then I would find out that the shoot was only over on Angels. I even commented about it on one of my early reviews. I suppose this is only a little worse than, say, Met Art listing additional sets of the model you are looking at along the bottom of a page even though many of the sets are on a different site.
In any case, Scan used to be the really young, really skinny, small breasted girl site and Angels was the site where the young, C-cup or better girls and pros went. I think it is still that way to some extent. I do not think there is a D cup anywhere on Alsscan. The delineation is STRICTLY a way to break one site up into two to generate more revenue as the type of material is identical.
Yes, the Caribbean trips were nice. But the industry has changed a lot and I'm guessing good models are much less common and much more expensive these days. I don't know what the contracts looked like back then, but the days of "Hey, I'll fly you to the Caribbean for a week along with 10 other bi/lesbian girls and all you have to do is a couple of photo shoots" is long gone. Now it's probably 10k a week per model regardless of where. Oh well.

AlsScan is affiliated with Met-Art. AlsAngels is not. I think it is pretty clear that the guy who runs these sites has always separated out the models by body type and put the curvier ones on AlsAngels. I wrote reviews years ago mentioning this. I hope he is doing really well with the Met Art arrangement, but for whatever reason, he is keeping ALSAngels for himself so the resources they provided to make the ALSScan site more functional are not available here. I think it is also clear that he has some specific tastes that apparently a large number of people share that are pretty much unique to these two sites.
But, like you, I am completely turned off by some of the bizarre, more clinical things on this site and would be much happier if the huge 200+ image photo sets were broken out into, perhaps, stripping and spreading, maybe masturbation, and whatever else is going on in them. By breaking out the sets, the site could draw people who are just looking for straight nude or sex stuff without forcing them to look at the more extreme items that are present in every single set. Ultimately, I think that compartmentalizing the sets would draw and keep more subscribers. It would also provide an opportunity to break up what is now one huge release into two. Webmaster, I hope you are reading this!

Not much has changed there. There is a more recent public one titled, "In Plain View", but it's minimal in public content. Towards the end of the scene the model (still nude) jogs down to the intersection and waves at a few cars. The tags make it more frustrating since they have a "public nudity" tag, but some of those sets are around the pool with no one else around. They do have a couple of hitchhiking scenes that could be seen as public nudity, but there's not as much public content as there used to be and the beach trips are even hard to tell on. There's a few in 2012, but I'm thinking they're remastered from old scenes since Sandy from Club Sandy is in one of them.

It's not exactly artcore or glamcore. Imagine the format that you're used to for g/g content on ALS, then make it b/g. No condoms, last time I checked!
By the way, I should amend my review in one way. Their latest photosets have increased in resolution to 5000x3000. They have always been the first to adopt the highest resolution formats, and they are making good on that tradition.

Thank you RA. That is then something of a deal breaker for me. I found it so frustrating on previous memberships. I think the explanation is not a revisit of a regular model because they have named repeat visits explicitly - e.g. Faye Runaway shoot 2. But then the contents of a "shoot" took months and months to appear. And the same was true of a new model. I can never get enough of Kiera Winters. I see she has just appeared. I would join when she has 5 or more shoots up. And that is despite the fact that I hate toys and insertions. ALS usually have a few good shots without toys in each series and it is worth joining just for those and ignoring all the cucumbers. But if she has just one set up, I might be joining for 5 images, which is not the best value. I guess they do it because they think members will stay longer to wait for the updates. I just stay away while I wait for the updates :-(
Thanks again for the info. I guess I will need to wait a year before joining again.

Yeah I've said before this site is awesome if you like photos and vids of solo girls and not many sites are good at both. Myself though I just couldn't get into lots of the videos because they tended to be photoshoots and I didn't like that, seemed a waste to me that the 2 girls were there and performing lesbian action but kept stopping and posing for the camera, I prefer much more to see an actual lesbian scene. I know the site has them too but just not that many to justify me joining and I'm not really into solo girl stuff unless they are super hot.
Still I never rule the site out of a future join and if they did a deal for $19.99 or less I'd for sure consider it as I bet there is some stuff I'd really like with the normal shot lesbian and group girl scenes.

What an excellent and comprehensive review! And I speak as someone who has joined this site several times despite not much liking its content. Like it or not, I have to agree that it does what it clearly sets out to do, with photographic and video quality standards that are possibly unmatched.

Thanks for the very thorough review Realadmiral. I do want to let you know that our older videos are available. We started re-mastering them around 2007 and when these older videos were re-released we listed them with the new release dates. Just take a look under some of our more popular models from the early 2000's like Sophie, Liz Honey, Roxanne, Taylor Rain, etc and you'll see their videos.

I tried it out, but not getting the offer. The only options I got besides the standard join is to join for long-term. The worst part, I never can get my card approved through their billing system so it ends up sending me to ccbill. Maybe I'll send them an email and ask what's going on with both problems. I wouldn't have ever complained about it if Angels updated more frequently. I still really like their content, but my subscriptions have dropped off since I usually prefer Angels. At one time, maybe 2007, I was joining both about every 3 months. As of right now, I don't think I've been a member this year of either. Just like Monahan's post below shows.

Yeah as much as I like high quality vids I do like to not go above 1gb on a movie, that's good quality for me really, I don't watch them on a big tv really only on a 24" monitor. Some of the downloads on the site I'm at now Reality Kings at full 1080p ones are in excess of 2.8 gb, just don't have he hard drive space for vids this size so just downloading the smaller ones.
Yeah about scores, its all about your prefrences isn't it, if your expectations and tastes are catered for then you have to rate high, its a very personal thing scoring.

rearadmiral, terrific review, as always. I'm giving serious thought to taking the plunge on a 3 month membership to ALS Scans, especially after reading your review of ALS Scans today. The site has been on the top of my bucket list for a long time; one reason is because it had good preview stuff on Andie Valentino. (She's not in the model list right now, which means I should jump in before others disappear.
I'm tiring of the suck, fuck and jerk stuff and want to return to my real interest, looking at superbly attractive models in professionally produced videos while enjoying themselves.
One question. Can you tell from the site if ALS Angels is still available at the $9.95 add-on price and if that deal is permanent with longer term memberships?

Very good review RearAdmiral. I've been a big fan of both ALS sites for a good while. The main thing I'm going to comment on is the ALS Angels site being available for $9.95 with ALS Scan. This originally was the only major problem I had with the ALS sites.
The difference between the two. ALS Angels are models, ALS' webmaster Alex felt were "too curvy" for ALS Scan. If he has made Angels available for $9.95 to Scan members then I probably wouldn't complain too much, but for years, including up to the last membership I had, Scan was $29.95, Angels was $24.95 no matter whether you joined them both or not and it had me almost saying "scam". Various reasons for it, my favorite Euro model, Eve Angel is on Angels only, she is listed as 5'6" 115. not really for sure on what world a 115 pound woman is "too curvy". I think my most recent reviews of the two scored Angels higher than Scan just because I preferred the models, though Angels only updates 7-10 times a month, compared to Scan's much more frequent updates.
It became such a frustrating point for me that I stopped joining either site. Don't remember how I exactly worded it, either in a review or comment, but at one point, it cost nearly $55 to join both and the only bonus from joining both was receiving all the models all other sites offer for one price. This became more frustrating when I signed up for both sites with the same username/password and sure enough, they were going through the same server. I think I've even posted I would be willing to join both for $39.95 combo price, so it at least shows how much I liked the content. I'll have to make a note to join both if Alex keeps giving a discount to Angels for Scan members.

An excellent thorough review as usual rearadmiral. I'm not normally into the wierd insertions, gyno and fisting stuff the models get up to here but as you say the models are so hot and the quality of the photos top notch that i'm prepared to overlook those issues for this site. Not had a membership here for about two and a half years though so maybe time for a revisit soon. A shame if they've removed a lot of the pre 2007 stuff but luckily i grabbed most of that on my last visit.

Yep, I got them. :-) I found the one with Blue Angel the most exciting because she became an instant favorite the moment I laid eyes on her! I normally don't collect models but I got every scene she is in plus most of her photo sets! And she's under forty!!!! I'll have to rethink everything! :-)

I am completely satisfied myself, rearadmiral, because I found lesbian videos that I like very much, plus the public stuff you mention. Just got finished downloading some of the videos where the model goes for a stroll clad only in body paint. Neat!
Through the Prague public stroll I also discovered a breathtakingly beautiful model, Blue Angel, who is making me forget mature for a while. :-) I stopped being discerning when it comes to her videos and am downloading everything I can. I had forgotten how much I love puffies. She has a sunny disposition as well.
