This used to be one of my favorite sites. Phil seems to have lost interest quite a bit. Updates are weekly - sometimes - and USUALLY older un-released material. Other than that, the main updates are web cam show archives, which are sometimes hot, but the quality is not so great - small pictures, not anywhere near state of the art.
Every once in a while, Phil will come up with new outstanding material, like a recent update of Janessa that is mind-blowing. The archives are the reason for my sticking around along with the membership in the several other sites that you get with this one. At his best, Phil had a great erotic style of in-your-tease and there's a LOT of Phil's best available with this site, though it's frustrating as hell where this site is now compared to its glory days of multiple mind-blowing updates a week and lots of web cam shows that were much larger than postage-stamp size with hot, hot girls.

Well-done review of a site that I love.
Some might love the emphasis on pee-ing and weird insertions. Some might be turned off by same.
Me, I love it for the great high-quality photography and vids of such large numbers of gorgeous babes.
And the appreciation of their customers that marks everything about this site is impressive - which models they update, when and how they update, what areas of improvement have been focused on first - all have been highly influenced by customer feedback.

Considering what Alex announced about the HUGE leap in content being released at ALS Scan - a complete photo set being released each day, while one complete photo set is being released per week at ALS Angels - they are really going to have to adjust the pricing.
They have already been sending out offers to past members of 1 month of ALS Angels when rejoining ALS Scan for 90 days. It will be interesting to see if they continue to develop ways to give ALS Angels memberships away as various types of bonuses.

More details on improvements - from Alex's blog 3/04/08:
We are in the process of changing our navigation and layout for the better; yes, we are going to move into the 21st century and get rid of those fucking frames. :) Please be patient with us during the next week or so while we get the navigation and links optimized and remove the frames from the member's section. Take another look at yesterday's Hailey Young photo update and you will see additional improvements to the navigation links from the way it looked before.
We are going to more than double the amount of pictures that we release in our members section. Here is the new ALS Scan release schedule. We are going to have new release updates seven (7) days a week. A new complete photoset will be released every other day; so for example, we will release a new photo set on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tue, Thur, Sat, Mon, Wed... and so on. On days that we do not release a photoset we will release a brand new full scene video. We will continue to release videos 7 days a week until our complete archive has been remastered and is available online full time.

If it's a vid of a photo-shoot - and it really IS a vid of a photo-shoot, well, it makes sense for a professional photographer to have some things to say while they're working, so it doesn't bother me.
I can't remember an interview where a guy added anything - usually they visibly bore the shit out of the girl or just annoy her. Guys talking to set up vignettes usually talk way too much. And in both those situations, I'd much rather have a cute girl talking than some guy anyway.

Yeah, an unnattractive guy in the scene, especially when the girl is acting like he's such a stude, like in some of the Brazzers Network vids, can definitely be a distraction. A guy that's reasonably good looking and acting like he's really hot for the woman can definitely add to a scene.
Even a guy that's not so good looking or an old guy that's acting like he's hot for the girl is better than the type of porn where the guys are more concerned with looking in the mirror than they are fucking the girl - I just hate that shit!
I wind up screaming at my monitor - put your hands on her, asshole! Look at that fabulous body in front of you and you ain't doing shit!

It's rare that I would pay $30/month for a site, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not going to do it unless the site has some special live events with a porn babe that I'm totally in lust with or the site is know to me as having been around for years and having some real depth in their archives. I put 50+ in the poll, but the truth is that I would not be the first in the place unless they were going well beyond that.
For instance, The Black Alley was a site that I was itching to join when they first opened because not only were they providing the material for a new site, but they were announcing that they were going to be providing the archives of Asian4You, a site that had been around for years. I think they were a bit south of $30/month AND they were starting off with a lot of content - that's a site that's going to have me excited.
Some new site that's got just a few galleries and wants to charge $30/month is barking up the wrong tree if they think I'm going to be a customer of theirs.

I've had even lamer explanations for log-in problem from some other sites (Felicia Tang lost her password to be able to get into her own site for 2 weeks one time), but given the size of 21st Sextury, they really ought to be able to deal with this stuff. It's definitely a drag when you can't get into their sites. The whole point of joining is to be able to entry when we're wanting to. If they're not available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, then they become a whole lot less valuable.

The quantity of available vids is way beyond 100 - you might have missed the link that says "click here for more downloadable vids" - and that's just in the "new vids" section. Then they have a bonus up right now that's another 10 vids and the "Director's Best" section.
The vids section should continue to grow since they add a new one every day and no longer archive them - they haven't done so since April 2007, I believe.
I agree with you on this site - gorgeous girls beautifully photographed and video'd - all very high quality - being naughty as hell. I love this site.
For people that don't like the director's voice, it's easy to avoid the "photoshoot" vids, which are the ones where he talks, because he's working. He isn't going to get the great photos that he does without talking to the models and his assistants, so I'm fine with him yakking away. I've gotten used to his voice - he doesn't come off like a sleaze, like a lot of guys that yak during their vids.

I like sites that have live cam shows as part of the site, such as Danni.com, Karen Dreams, Adriana Sage, Jana Cova, Nautica Thorne's site or Jenna Haze's site, but I wouldn't pay for a web cam site where that was the whole thing, nor could I see paying $20 or more for a private cam show. The thing that I find amazing is that, despite the development of broadband and the high quality of the streaming that some sites have, few sites have cam shows that look good or work well. Misha's cam shows, for example, almost always look like crap. Phil Flash's used to look good, now they are also postage stamp sized crap.
The site with the best quality web cam shows I've seen lately are at Met Art - in Siberia! What the hell is up with that?

Personally, I have found the level of engagement in posted photo sets has improved since I wrote my review a while ago - that was my pet peeve at the time and it seems to have been addressed - or my tastes changed toward what the site has been posting.
Either way, I'm on my second 4-month membership and I find new stuff every day that I enjoy - both pics and vids. I consider this to be quite a solid site.

I don't know when you were a member last, or why you're writing a "What happened to them?" comment if you haven't been a member in a while to see the quality of what they have been presenting, but for 8 months or so they stopped rotating off the vids, except for bonuses. I think their new models have been damned hot.
FYI - if you're a Jana fan, they're going to be releasing a huge bonus of her stuff, remastered to bring it up to today's standards, this week.
