Sounds like an awful experience. I am not sure if sites make these things complicated by design, so that customers have difficulty finding out how to cancel. My strong suspicion is yes. I am sorry to hear your first experience has been so awful. Some sites are less complicated than this. But this is the drawback of temporary or trial subscriptions. Sometimes it's better to just get a month's subscription. Incidentally TBP does a number of discount subscriptions. You can get a month's subscription to a site for as little as $9.95. They discount $10 with quite a few sites. So for $10-15 you can get a month's subscription. (I am sounding like a shill for TBP!)
I have never had a trial with any site. I think one of the reasons is I have always feared running in to the same difficulties you have had. All you can do is check with your credit card company and make sure you have not been charged, or to contact them now, to tell them you have not authorised further charges. Some people do not like to do this. That's another reason sites get away with overcharging and signing people up for sites they did not originally mean to sign up for.
No wonder free porn and piracy is rife. This poor guy finally signed up to try some genuine site, and then gets all these problems.
One of the problems with trials is, they are so quick, you have very little time to cancel, and get confirmation.

As Andy has said, most of the members here can spot a fake. It can either be someone affiliated to the site or someone who just registers to go over the top in praise about one particular site. Neither of these reviewer types are particular trustworthy IMO. The signs are all there - a quick review, a first review from a new member, no objectivity, no negatives, full of "what else can I say a brilliant site" type comments, a ridiculusly high mark, and no, or little, tech specifications, then they disappear without any further reviews. Allied to that, you have a number of these reviews all in quick succession. Maybe it's the site itself that deserves a "no" trust. I would strongly suggest the members here take a note of the other sites under the same ownership and treat them with high suspicion. I would also suggest to these new members to hand around and put in some reviews. Then maybe people will treat them seriously and not be so suspicious.

There are a few of us here who really love this site, not least because of its great customer service. The difference between American Vice, and the big sites who really couldn't care less about customer service, as they probably consider themselves far too big to worry about customers, is enormous. The great customer service, along with the variety and quality of videos, makes it one of my favourites.

This looks like a good bunch of sites, especially with the discount available through TBP. I have always liked John Stagliano (Buttman). It's sad that he caught HIV but I guess that's one of the dangers of the industry. Jay Sin is great too. I love his milk enema stuff.

It's simple. If a site tries to rip you off, don't subscribe. I will not subscribe to a site that has regional discrimination. Boycotting this sort of thing is the only thing that will make them rethink. I hate fake breasts and tattos anyway so there's no way I would join this site, but everyone has their own taste. There are plenty of sites I would like to join but wont because of regional discrimination. If someone sticks a middle finger up to me I tell them to f**k off. That's how I feel about regional discrimination.

Thanks for the info. It's a site I have considered joining for about 4 years! I never did because there always seems to be a better site about, and because I am mainly a hardcore vid person rather than softcore pic person. The site still sounds pretty good though. As you say, I gotta check it out once.

Thanks for the info Reg. It's nice to know it's not just us in the UK suffering. There's some strange stuff happening out there at the moment. I don't want to get too harsh about Video Box, but when I was a member last year I had speeds down to 1kb/sec! That site is still my worst by far, for download speeds, but I do get a slow download on a lot of sites now at those peak times.
I guess you noticed the review by Messmer. Great to see you're getting some recognition at last, and featuring high in the PU scores. With your customer service you deserve it. You must hate me - my score of 90 is dragging your average score down!

I don't know exactly, but I have experienced the same thing with many sites between the hours of 4pm until about midnight. It varies but there is nearly always a slow time. The worst speed I have ever experienced was Video Box which was virtually inaccessible between those hours. I found American Vice to be much better for speeds, but there was still a slow time, as there was on a lot of sites. I had BT check this and according to them I had good connection speed.

Very informative review. This was a site I was contemplating joining at one time, but there are too many negatives and too many other sites that offer a bit more, especially as I prefer vids to pics. Nowadays before I join a site I always try to work out the TR - tattoo ratio.

Yeah! I like it too. At last people are starting to take note of this site. Very accurate review IMO. I agree about the webmaster. One of the most underrated things is customer service. Yes people moan about bad customer service, but do they support sites with great customer service? This is the sort of site customers should be signing up for.

No problem for me as long as the site has something exceptional. I have said this many times before but going back 20-30 years and you could pay £20-£100 per video depending on where you purchased. I may sound like some sort of shill but I think online porn is very cheap at the moment.
It can't last. Better view this as the golden age of porn I think, especially with Pirate Bay in the dock and authorities trying to gain control of the internet. I never dreamed of porn being as cheap or accessible as it is at the moment. With some of the specialist websites catering for every fetish imaginable it is hard to get too jaded. I will make the most of this, in the way I made the most of the punk rock scene in the 70's. Thankfully I still have my hearing.

I think lousy customer service and lousy content are of equal importance, as far as I'm concerned, in establishing which sites to avoid. Some people would go for the content as the most important thing, but if you get lousy service or feel you've been ripped off in any way, what should be a fun way to spend money, turns out to be a bloody nuisance and waste of time. I avoid any site or organisation that has terrible customer service. This organisation is now one of them.
