I'd have to say that Monahan's description of the zips is pretty much accurate. It's a pain because they aren't very well described but I tend to rename them or edit my zips so, for me, it's not that big of deal.

I've been a member at Twisty's in the past and I rejoined on a two day trial membership through Bluefantasies.
There is a ton of content here so if you're rather newish to the porn surfing world you're going to find a lot to like. The content is mostly centered around pornstars in professional style shoots with some amateurish stuff tossed in. However, if you've been around a while you'll recognize most of the sets. There's a lot of material from Vivthomas and pretty much the same material as the Sexy-babes / Dreambabes sites and a few other mega sites. It's been about a year since I was a member at a mega site and quite honestly I only found about 40 "new to me" hardcore sets -- this includes their bonus sites. A lot of their new updates is stuff that other sites seem to have had for a while now.
I will give them Kudos for having a very good search function and model directory. Also I liked the fact that they have upgraded a lot of their older photo sets from 800x600 (which they used to be) to roughly 1020 by 720 or larger now.
The bonus sights, as mentioned, are almost all clones.
Standing on it's own, I'm giving Twisty's a score of 81. If I included bonus sites I'd bump the score up a couple of points more. While the content is good it is nonexclusive and other mega sites do it better with more up to date content. If you're newish to the porn surfing scene then it is well worth checking out; just don't plan to go back anytime soon |

I think I'm a bit limited in my response in that my subscription just ended. I know they used to have more content (especially the old stuff) and I think that is now hidden in an "upgrade" feature. I didn't upgrade so I can't say for sure what comes in that package. However, even if I'm right, unless you're concerned about way old content (7 years or longer) then you're probably not affected.

- Zips don't work on pic sets older than 2010.
- No vid and/or pic set icons for older scenes.
- Pretty generic in terms of overall scene interest and photography.
- Problem with model names, notably giving "new" names to established Euro girls. |

For years Twistys (now the Twistysnetwork) was the old reliable. If you wanted a bunch of porn for a reasonable price that's what you got. Nothing flashy or niche based, just good old fashioned naughty bits in a professional package. This used to a standby site for me but with the new network design, new owners and array of issues this one is getting shoved on the back burner. Here's the breakdown:
PICS: Good pic sizes and lots of variety but that's where it ends. For their hardcore, they have one primary photographer so you pretty much see the same type of sex set after set after set. Many of the hardcore sets are heavily cropped so if you like full body shots then this ain't your site. The solo shots are better but they are pretty generic in character. Some problems with photographer using auto focus with too narrow of a focus field (pics get slightly blurry just outside of the central focus dot - probably because the pics are just HD screen grabs from the video shoot and the photographer can't figure out how to change his settings).
VIDS: HD maxes out at 720p but it was good quality and no issue to me. You get in browser playback but it was incredibly choppy - I had to go to the download option and watch there. I lost the ability to hear sound after watching 6 - 8 vids and had to exit the site and re-enter to fix it (sound just fine when downloading though). I had no problems downloading vids like some other recent reviewers noted. Vids usualy 15 - 30 minutes (shorter on the solo, longer on the hardcore).
NAV: This is the part that chapped my ass. The site underwent a major overhaul and like most software upgrades, you often leave some functionality behind. Here it was A LOT of functionality. The site is all flash based but there is no in site flash navigation. If you open a set on page 5 and use your "back" button you go back to page 1 every time. You have to right click and open every scene in a new window or else lose your place. Since you can only move up to two pages at a time you need be careful on a site this sized.
Advanced search is pointless since it relies on tags and the tagging is inconsistent. Model directory seems complete but names on Euro girls are sometimes different.
You lose the ability to download zips before 2010. Also, around 2010 you lose the set / scene icons (all it says is "no pic available") and those that do exist aren't representative of the content or even the model.
You need to upgrade to see all the older / oldest content they have.
Most of these sites (7 in all) simply update across the board with most of the content. This isn't new but it is a pain since if you have to do a lot of digging if you want to see as much as possible (each scene says which site it was updated to but this isn't reliable or consistent).
Overall, this is a decent glam oriented site. However, it could easily be more and better but simply chooses not to be. They've obviously cut their budget and it shows. So, for $10 you can't really go wrong but don't expect to be wowed. |

Let me try here. Videobox is one of the top scoring sites here and on almost every other mainstream review site. They have a ton of content, good navigation and decent quality. True, they're starting to tweak people with their premium channel stuff but it's still miles ahead of most other sites except when it comes to exclusivity.
With a score of 70 it sounds to me like you just didn't like the content. While that's perfectly fine, that shouldn't necessarily drive the score down to a 70. At that point, you're letting personal preferences dictate your review score, not the attributes of the site itself in comparison to similar porn sites. Obviously you're entitled to your opinion but I don't think many others would agree with you.

Hey Skip, welcome to PU. Just wanted to say that overall we're kind of finicky about reviews. Everyone is free to put in what they want but in order for your reviews to be helpful they need more information (video size, quantity, organization, search function, overall quality, etc.). The more info the better the rest of us are able to make a buying decision in the future. Videobox has been reviewed to death but for other sites this extra info becomes more importent.

I've never been a member but have been considering signing up at some point. My question is that by purchasing credits do you actually get to keep the download? Otherwise it sounds like the monthly membership is more of a DRM deal; you get to watch it only while you're a member. Also, how much is one credit? Thanks.

Nope, never have joined this site although it did inspire the poll question. When it comes to pics I like sets or series and this site seems to focus mostly on "one off" pics or just a few pics in a series so I haven't been that attracted to it and the price is a bit high for me to just take a gander at it. Good luck, maybe you'll have to be the one to take the leap.

Yeah, the dudes on the preview page are pretty over the top in comparison to the girls who are only mostly over the top :) If this type of animation gets better and they can start making movies the only job pornstars are going to have is doing the 'screaming O' voice overs while leaving us pervs with a completely warped sense of reality.

You definitely come up with some interesting sites to review. Not terribly interested in this sort of thing but I after looking at the tour I would note that unlike most games, you apparently get to permanently keep the girls that you download (I assume the interactive / AI part works after the membership expires too). Certainly an interesting concept; can't wait for software / AI to become better where you have a truly custom stuff done although that will probably be way too expensive at first.

I haven't been a member in a while but I recently checked out the tour. The quality will be better at the other sites you listed (both in terms of vids and pics) since Viv has been around for so long. I should note that Viv seems to just be recycling old content now. If you've never joined it does have some good stuff to see but not at the same level. The other sites you listed are also more "heartcore" in terms of the sex being pretty tame while Viv is more standard hardcore in approach. Hope this helps.

Vivthomas is a top notch photographer who's stuff you've probably already seen on sites like Teendreams, ATKgalleria, and others. His focus on Euro glam porn. This is my second time joining and I only hopped on for the trial.
For those interested in vids, forget this site and consider Vivthomasvideo. All you get are short clips and access to some streaming vids. I didn't really mess around with this but I note that the clips played at 640x480 in wmv. Most of this stuff is only a few minutes long.
The pics are the real reason to go here. He does a very professional job in terms of production value and overall quality. Very few blurry shots or bad lighting. He also uses a variety of sets so it's not overly reptitive. Most sets have fewer than 100 pics which I tend to like since you don't get 10 shots of the same thing. There is a small watermark in the cornor of the pics.
The hardcore was good but it doesn't update that often. Viv is probably at his best when shooting solo models. He does a good job of shooting lingerie and seems to bring out some sexiness in the models which a lot of sites seem to lack. There's 17 categories to choose from and you get about 650 models and there's about 165k pics. Some models have bios and bits about them but most don't have anything. The model directory appears to be complete and accurate.
There is also a forum which has a fair amount of activity and you can buy his dvds from the site too.
I'm only scoring this site an 82 because so much of his older content is leased out that I've seen most of it before. The new stuff is exclusive but it too will eventually start cropping up elsewhere. I certainly had no problem getting what I wanted during the trial period and if you've been around porn for a while you shouldn't have any problem getting by on a trial either.
I'm also scoring the site an 82 because of the lack of video content. Granted, he has a video site which costs more but I think I'd rather see him merge the two sites together and charge a bit more to get all the content.
My last reason for the score is that his photos sometimes appear in larger sizes on other sites. I just joined Teendreams and their Vivthomas pics are much larger. You get a little graininess but it's minimal. So all I have to say is "Viv, grow 'em bigger!".
So, if you like pics, like hot euro babes and want a cheap distraction, then I suggest checking it out. |

Hey Exotics, not trying to bust you on your score for this one. Just stating my preferences is all. I probably have some scores that are too high/low for others too. I like your idea about the forum post as I've found some members who do a decent job of writing reviews but consistently score too high in my book. When I give them trust ratings I usually note that as part of my comment.
As for the complete sets thing, I think the "completeness" of a set depends on his contract or at least that is my guess. If he's doing a shoot for, say, Teen Dreams he'll probably give out the full set. With his own material, my guess is that he reserves some of the content he leases out to others for his own site.

I'd agree that Viv's site is more focused on the pics but, like the other reply noted, I don't understand why he doesn't go larger. A lot of Viv's stuff also appears on other sites like ATKgalleria, Twistys, Sexy-babes and other mega-sites which means if other PU users have been there they've probably seen a lot of his material already. I would note that Viv doesn't seem to release full photo sets to some of these sites so you'll probably find the complete sets at his site. For my money, Viv would have to boost his video quantity and quality to score in the 90's but as a picture lover his site is still pretty good.
