I always go straight to VB2 to avoid a lot of the gimmicks in VB3. My concern about this is that it would probably hog a lot of bandwidth for stuff you likely don't want to see. Is that the case?

Thanks for the comments, BadMrFrosty. I walked into this disaster with my eyes wide open so I can't blame anyone but myself. This network could really have been a home run with some of the themes they have, but they really fail to deliver. I'm sure developing and running a good porn website is difficult, but that's why you hire people who know the technical stuff. But since they appear to have been around for years I'd guess that they don't intend to change, and they don't rely on repeat business.

Thanks for the comments, gaypornlover. This was clearly my own fault given that there weren't many positive comments about the site from anyone. I got burned, but I don't feel too bad since I knew that I was likely to get burned. I had a recent experience where I signed up for a site expecting to be able to download scenes and learned it was streaming only. That site, including the Terms of Service, was pretty vague so I did feel cheated there.
I'd guess that a serious disadvantage that you have, as one of the few gay PU members, is that you're breaking the trail more than the rest of us. For most of the sites I've joined some other PU member has likely been there before. I probably haven't said this loudly enough, but I'm glad you stick around and contribute as much as you do. I may not have any personal interest in the sites you review (but I always read them!), but I am interested in your perspective and you write excellent reviews that will form a great basis for new gay members as they join PU.

It's odd that they'd use a tiered price structure that creates a dis-incentive for new people to join. I heard an interview on a canadian radio program with the site owner's lawyer. At that time they were one of the few websites that were actively going after pirates, and one of the messages i got was that Lightspeed and other smaller sites are really being hit hard by piracy. The cruel irony of most anti-piracy prevention measures is that it likely only hurst the paying customers who support the site and would never post the material on a torrent or tube site.

I checked their FAQs and they still talk about downloads, but only in the context of not allowing download managers. If they've changed the site to eliminate downloads they really need to be upfront about that.

I suspect that this is a much bigger issue with European and Russian, etc. models than it is with U.S models, but I try to stick to the old name. The one case I can think of where an American model was ordered to change her name was Violet Blue who was sued by another Violet Blue. Our Violet Blue became Noname Jane. The strange thing about that is that the porn Violet Blue was/is probably a lot better known that some second-rate 'journalist' hack.

Interesting review. I'm a huge Kink fan too and have a couple of memberships on the go now as well. This is one of the Kink sites that intrigued me but that I've never taken the plunge and joined because I'm not certain if I'd like it. What I did a while back was when I had a Videobox membership I waited until the last days of my monthly membership and joined the Kink Channel for the pro-rated price and downloaded all the Ultimate Surrender stuff there. I'm glad I did it that way, because while this site brings all the usual high-quality aspects that Kink is known for, the niche just isn't for me.
I agree with your negative comments about Kink, but I assess them differently, I guess. The site navigation is basic on all their sites, but given that each site is such a narrow niche I don't find that an issue.
One thing I definitely agree with you on is the need for a zip file for ALL the photos in a set. I don't download photos much, but Kink's approach needs to be rethought.

It depends on the scene. In a fairly soft scene I like the model's eyes to be accentuated but not pronounced. But in a real ball-busting hardcore scene I'm a big fan of dark eye makeup.

Yes, online porn memberships is excellent value when compared with other ways of getting porn and with most other means of entertainment too. Movies, concerts, dining out all cost a lot. Golf too. And if your entertainment involves burning fuel, boating, trailering, avaition, etc., then online porn is still an excellent value.
Too bad we can't discuss our hobby in the same way everyone else does...

I think we're mostly in agreement. I have to have the sound off a lot of times for 'strategic' reasons. But when I am able to listen to the sound too I prefer no music at all. I'm so used to no music in much of what I watch that it seems obtrusive when it is there - even if it is subtle.
One possible exception is the original music that X-Art uses. I don't necessarily like it, but I will admit that it adds to the mood that the site is trying to create.

One possibility is that it will probably be out on VOD before it gets onto a DRM-free site so we can at least rent a VOD for a couple of days to see the scene. I know a lot of people don't like VOD sites, but for times like this they can work well.

I was just noticing that Tanner did an anal scene for Elegant Angel earlier this year that still isn't on their website, so it probably doesn't bode well for seeing Lexi's anal movie there soon after it gets released. Probably the same can be said for the other scenes you note. Unlike Evil Angel who post new movies soon after they hit the streets, it seems that Elegant Angel has a different plan to milk DVD and VOD sales first.

Great review! I'm a big fan of this site and find it almost perfect as it is. I do agree that there could be more tease. I'm sure that the regional pricing issue is like a slap in the face to non-NA customers and I wonder why sites do that...

Informative review! I have to admit that this is one of the few popular sites here that I haven't joined. Their confusing pricing scheme kept me away at first, but that's fixed now. So after reading positive reviews like your I think it might be time that I finally join.

Great review pat. Regarding your comment that you might be in the minority since you don't find VB all that great, I think you're both right and wrong. As you say, VB is an excellent site for someone who is just starting to collect porn so you'd be in the minority among most people. But here at PU, I suspect that you're in the majority. I like VB and I'll keep going back, but I really wish they'd make it a better site and concentrate more on quality than quantity.
I also strong agree with you that it is frustrating that studios on VB don't make more of their catalogue available.
