Good point on the POV issue. But I think the underlying issue is a change in attitude. These younger guys who make gonzo porn now are just too self-centred. Maybe they should try making shitty music instead and leave porn to the professionals.

I agree. While there are some good gonzo directors around today most of them are pretty bad at it. I think the worst kind are those guys who make the porn about THEM, not about the girl. Guys in porn should realize that they are just part of the set. And another advantage in early gonzo was that it was rare that the women were degraded. And they had this quaint thing called cunnilingus. That seems almost strange now in some of the gonzo today.
Maybe I should go into business offering oral sex to young ladies who don't get it often because their boyfriends don't see it in porn.

My reasons are a bit different. I like the types of movies that you describe, and I do actively look for those, but my preference is for titles that aren't that old. I prefer finding titles from the early days of gonzo when it was fresh and different. If you started watching gonzo back when it first started you'll remember how different it was from plot-based movies. And you'll also know how different older gonzo is from current gonzo. Some of my all-time favourites are from people like John Stagliano and Joey Silvera. I know a lot of people don't like the original Shane's World and a lot of stuff from Seymore Butts, but I like the playful feel that all those titles have.
One problem you must encounter more that I do is that those old titles on film must be very hard to find. The titles I look for are much more readily available.

I'm with the majority (so far) on this. For me, finding new and interesting stuff is more than half the fun. Occasionally I'll develop an interest in a new theme or find a model that I like and I'll scour the internet looking for more.

I'll confess to being a big fan. I really like Jim Powers' series American Bukkake, especially the later ones where the talent is a little more active. I'm not aware of any other bukkake series out there other than this one. There are other titles, but they are just single titles as far as I know.

Trashman's expired review noted that there was a download quota and they'd start to threaten you with penalties for just downloading what they considered to be too much material. He also said that the videos were DRM protected. Are these still the case or has it been fixed?

I think that it is far less stigmatized now than it once was. That is probably due to it being so much more widely available thanks to the internet and that younger women seem to have a bit of an interest now.
What always bugs me about the topic is that so many people publicly denigrate porn who probably also have a big stash too.

As extreme as it is I'll keep them, if for no other reason that I never purge porn. I did that a couple of times back when digital media was still young and expensive and I came to regret it. Much of my quest for porn has been to find the stuff I purged. It's actually been pretty successful since most of it was movies from the early and mid-nineties.
And I agree that one of the many great things about PU is that there is always a way for members to ask each other questions.

I'm surprised that there are people registered on this site who siad "No, not really."
I think that by any sensible measure, I'm a collector. I have a big colection, I spend money on it, I save it, I back it up to protect it, I catalogue it and I manage it. I tell my porn buddies that I'm a curator. And that might not be an exaggeration.
This may or may not be an indicator too, but I base big purchases on my porn needs too. Computers, peripherals and TVs are all bought with their porn integration in mind.
And if it wasn't for digital porn, Wittyguy is right: we'd all be those freaks on TV.

My review will be up by the time you read this, and while I wouldn't necessarily recommend this site to anyone, I hope that I kept it objective. My goal would be for someone to look at the reviews (all of them) and get a sense of what is there, plus get a sense of how the site measures up in objective technical stuff. Objectively, the site is great - there is a decent amount of material, the navigation is simple but effective, the download speeds are great, the scenes are well shot, well lit, etc. If someone were to read the reviews and say 'these two guys thought it was too extreme, but they also say the site is decent and not a rip off, then I feel safe joining' then I'm happy with that.
And full disclosure - after all my comments about it being too extreme, there are still some scenes that I plan to download.

I suspect that you're right on a lot of this. I don't like to make my reviews too subjective because just because I don't like a site doesn't mean it isn't good.
I also agree that there are a lot of women who enjoy rough sex and being dominated. Look at most of what is offered on the Kink.com network. Sites like The Training of O, Sex and Submission, Water Bondage, Public Disgrace all rely on women who like being treated roughly. Society SM and its sister sites are the same.
The physical torment that women are subjected to in the sites I listed above is the same or close to what goes on at Facial Abuse, but the mental element is completely different. On Kink and Society SM I get a stong idea that the women like what is going on, and more importantly that the men recognize that they the degradation and humiliation of the women is just part of the sex play. For Facial Abuse, I get the feeling that these guys genuinely dislike women and see nothing wrong with what they're doing. I get the feeling that when the scene is over at a Kink shoot that people help the woman get back into the real world after an intense BDSM session. At Facial Abuse, my suspicion is that when the scene ends the staff say 'here's your $50 you dumb cunt, now get the fuck out of here.' I may be wrong about that, but if I am it is mostly because site like Kink go out of their way to make it abundently clear that the women are tossed out like garbage. Maybe when the cameras are turned off at Facial Abuse the guys drop the 'douchebag' schtick.
Finally, while I agree that some women (maybe a lot of them) enjoy BDSM and related activities, (Bobbi Starr, Madison Young and Amber Rayne come to mind) I can't imagine that too many women really enjoy the kind of mental abuse dished out at Facial Abuse. But having said that, Amber Rayne did a scene here so what to make of that>

So many others did have technical problems with the site that I thought I'd make the specific comment that I didn't have any of those issues. When you and I had a back-and-forth after you wrote your review that was one of my big concerns. If you reported problems I would have stayed away, but since you didn't I took the plunge. Maybe whatever problems other people had have been resolved.
I agree with you that there is good extreme and bad extreme. Read the comment from malikstarks in this thread. I agree with him too. But... there really is good extreme and bad extreme. Where is that line? I don't know. Maybe you and I are just being too subjective and basing this on taste. Maybe it's an age thing in that people younger than us have different media experiences. I still think that The Exorcist is the most scary movie ever made, because when it came out there was nothing like it. For someone in their 30s The Exorcist might seem tame and quaint.
But having said that, I still think that there has to be an objective standard for what is too extreme. And now that I think of it, there is. Most countries would have some criminal law dealing with this kind of material. You and I are both in Canada and I suspect that this material would be found to be illegal if we tried to import it as a DVD. The problem with using the criminal standard to determine whether this is too extreme is that that standard itself uses the :community standard" test. I'd bet you have trouble convincing blue-haired old Baptist ladies anywhere that this stuff isn't extreme, but they'd probably say that about tame mainstream porn too.
I think for me that I'm going to come down to the same test that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter used way back in 1964. To paraphrase him for this discussion, I may not be able to define what is too extreme, but I know it when I see it.
And I see it on this site.

pat - based on your review and the conversation we had in the comments section I took out a membership at Facial Abuse. Holy crap you weren't kidding when you said this stuff is extreme! I like hardcore BDSM and I even like some Max Hardcore stuff, but I found this shocking. That really surprised me. This seems to be abuse for the sake of abuse.

There are probably some very good reasons why they don't offer a one-price access, but I agree that something like that would be great. Even some kind of bundling for older material. Still, even at the prices they charge the sites are so good that they are still an excellent value.

Reading some of the replies made me realize how different the strip club experience can be in different jurisdictions. I agree with everyone who says that paying a lot of money to see some breasts is poor value. I'm fortunate to live in and travel to jurisdictions where full nudity and lap dances are allowed and so is touching. I've been in a neighbouring province where no lap dances or touching is allowed and that just seems like a waste of time and money. But it is an entirely different experience to have a young lovely sitting on your lap as you fondle her breasts and bum.
