I think the only reason for any negative feelings about porn would have to come from external sources. Porn, in and of itself, isn't necessarily bad or good. The bad or good gets added through a filter of morality. In most cases, morality around anything sexual is informed primarily by religion and, in my opinion, mainstream religion's track record on human sexuality is almost perfect. A perfect failure, that is.
So guilt is something that you'd feel when someone imposed it on you.
This reminds me of a time when we in the Canadian military would discharge anyone for being gay. The reasoning was that because being gay was such a bad thing, people may be blackmailed into doing treasonous things. But the flaw was always that if being gay wsn't seen as bad (which it isn't - it's neutral and only bad or good through a lens of morality) then the people couldn't be blackmailed.
Same thing here - if you feel guilty about porn, then that's primarily because someone else wants thinks you should feel bad about it.
Another example is back in the early 1980s the Canadian Defence Minister was fired for having gone to a strip club in Germany. The worry was that East German spies may have been present and may now have some dirt on him. Therefore he had to go. Contrast this with the time several years ago when Kevin Rudd was just elected Prime Minister in Australia. The press, in their gossipy best, discovered that Rudd had recently been in a Moscow strip club with some fishermen from Newfoundland and Iceland and apparently had a very good time. The press thought they had him in the crosshairs, but he defused the issue by declaring to a reporter that it was all true and it was the best time of his life and that anyone who has the opportunity to go to a Moscow strip club with Newfoundlanders and Icelanders should immediately do so. That killed the story immediately.
Bottom line - I don't feel guilty and fuck the people who think I should.

I agree with what both JayG and 247skizia wrote. I've written webmasters before and it is frequently a frustrating experience. I suspect that most webmasters don't give a flying fuck what we think, pro or con. Most just ignore emails. Having said that, I did have exceptional service from the now gone American Vice and from the Kink.com network (probably through The Training of O site...). The latter proposed a solution to a membership problem that I had that went beyond what I expected.

The best way to think about a VOD site is to consider it the Blockbuster of online porn – it’s rental only, but the terms and duration of the rental can be varied depending on what you want to spend.
I know a lot of PUs are probably solidly against such a site just because it doesn’t really fit the kinds of niche that we all seem to go for – that being the “I give the site $X for a membership of a set time and I can download what I want.” I agree with those concerns. So why would anyone be interested in such a site? Well, for many PUs who are serious collectors, these sites can be a great way to find DVDs that aren’t readily available anywhere else.
One of the best things about this site is its size. TPB says that it has 680 VOD rentals available, but I don’t know when that figure was posted. My educated guess is that is way off, and possibly off by a factor of 10 or more. My experience is that their VOD catalogue is huge. I have found titles here that I’ve been looking for for years.
Another positive is that while every VOD title has some form of DRM, the kind of DRM can vary depending on what is offered and what you want to spend. There are three different ways to get porn on this site. A pay-per-minute function is available with packages of minutes available in various sizes. You can also ‘rent’ the DVD for a set period (usually 7 or 30 days) and finally you can select to ‘download-to-own’ the DVD. That’s a bit misleading since it still has DRM, but the price includes three ‘certificates’ for you to use. Prices vary widely, with new releases and popular titles costing more than bargain-bin titles.
I’m not sure of the actual screen resolutions available, but all titles, regardless of how you rent them, are available in what is called “high” and “DVD.” (Some have “low” available too.) I’ve tried both the higher ones and obviously DVD is much better, and looks as good or better than other VOD sites.
The downsides are pretty obvious – cost and DRM. Cost is a big issue – getting your porn this way can be prohibitively expensive. This is not the way you want to build a porn DVD collection unless you happen to be Donald Trump. (New releases can be VERY expensive.) DRM is self-explanatory – you never own the movie outright.
But even taking the two big downsides into account this site can be a great way to see DVDs that aren’t otherwise available. If it’s a new-release that you must see, or an old classic favorite that you haven’t seen in years, this site likely has what you want if none of the monthly-membership sites do.
Please note – at the time I’m writing this Adult DVD Empire is transitioning to a new site called AdultEmpire.com. It seems to be a repackaging of the old site that keeps the same business model and search functions but in a more modern and user friendly way. |

Great review. Thanks for the updates on this site. I agree that it is one of the best out there but the quality can be pretty spotty. I haven't had a membership to VB since I upgraded my ISP to fibre-op and was wondering how the speeds would be. Given your information I'm hopeful that they'llbe pretty goo.

I hope this concept gets nipped in the bud soon as the legitimate reviews are getting flooded out by these 'fake' ones. Should the PU staff consider de-listing JAB Comix for this tactic?
And if JAB Comix thinks it could really push sites like ALS Scan, Met Art and Videobox out of the top ten here then I suspect that they're delusional. Is anyone here a member of rabbitsreviews? Are they getting spammed too?

Wired Pussy is part of the Kink.com network and for anyone who’s read my reviews of other sites from the network you’ll know that I consider Kink.com to be pretty much the best in the business.
The premise of WP is simple and fits well with the general BDSM themes in other Kink sites. In WP women are subjected to a mixture of pleasure and pain using electrical instruments. In most of the scenes the women are bound or restrained in some way which really plays to the BDSM theme. The scenes include a fairly lengthy interview with the model where she discusses her limits and clearly gives her consent to what has or is about to happen to her. The scenes vary in length and range from 20 minutes to almost an hour. During that time the submissive woman will be subjected to a wide variety of things from a TENS machine, Violet Wand, cattle prod and various electrified insertables for both the pussy and ass.
Like the other Kink sites, the directors make the whole BDSM thing work as a fantasy without degrading the models. At WP, as with all Kink sites that I’ve seen, it is abundantly clear that the models are really into and enjoying what’s happening to them.
The production values are high, as is always the case with Kink sites. The look and feel of the set adds to the tension.
The models are an interesting mix too. There are a lot of well-known porn stars who make an appearance. This includes some who are known for their BDSM work like Amber Rayne, Bobbi Star and Dana deArmond, and porn stars who aren’t normally seen in BDSM material like Aubrey Addams and Isabella Soprano. Many other models are unknown to me and may be true amateurs.
WP is logically laid out and easy to use. There is a good search function if you’re looking for a specific model. Selecting a scene brings you to a separate page where you have a number of options. You can download pictures from each scene as a zip, or you can download the video in any of four formats. HD is available in both mp4 and wmv format for all of the newer scenes. The scenes can be downloaded as smaller clips or as a complete file. Kink clearly understands the value of making the product as user-friendly as possible. Download speeds are decent, being about average for the industry.
Are there things I don’t like? Yes, but those are probably more personal preferences. The site is lesbian only which though I have no issue with girl-on-girl, I prefer BDSM to be m/f. That’s pretty minor, I know. The other thing that I don’t like about the site is that like some other Kink sites the niche is so narrow that there is only so much that can be done differently. Many of the scenes all have the same look and feel. There are some scenes that are very different, such as an outdoor shoot in New York, or the mix of water and electricity.
The bottom line is simple: if this is an interest of yours, then I can’t imagine you’ll find a site that does it better. |

The reviews and comments on this site are all over the place, and I can understand why that is. Had I written this review a few days ago it would be completely different and have a very low score. I wouldn’t have recommended it then either. First the good news though.
(Also, I should point out that there is more to Porn.com than just the DVD site. All I’m reviewing here is the DVD site though.)
This site is huge and offers an amazing variety of DVDs from a large number of studios. If you’re like me this may actually sound like bad news if you’re no stranger to Videobox. The obvious worry is that there would be so much overlap that this site would be poor value. But surprisingly there isn’t nearly as much overlap as I would have expected. Also, if you’re into ‘classics’ from the 80s and 90s (older too), Porn.com has a fairly good selection. When download speeds are good, they are vey good. I saw close to 2MB/sec on some downloads.
Also on the good news front is the fact that the videos can be sorted in many different ways. I particularly liked being able to sort by category. There is also an effective search function that allows you to search names or keywords.
Now for the bad news. First, the site is definitely confusing to use until you get it figured out. Once you find a scene in a DVD you want you select a button to download it. That takes you to a new screen where there is a button clearly labeled for download. But it never worked. Along the right hand side of the streaming screen there are a series of icons. It turns out that one of those will bring up yet another smaller screen that will then allow you to choose the size and format that you want. Of the hundreds of scenes I’ve downloaded I can’t say that more than a handful were available in HD.
The biggest problem with this site was the variability of download speeds. I can live with some variation – I suspect that’s normal with all sites depending on peak traffic. But I’ve never seen anything like this. My first two days with this site I was only able to download a handful of scenes. The rest of the time the site was impossible to use. I literally saw speeds that would make someone with dial-up angry. I cancelled my membership immediately and looked for some advice from the PU forums. Luckily messmer and others convinced me that things would improve. And they did. While it was less than convenient to have to download on their schedule, I made it work. When they had the server capacity download speeds were excellent.
The bottom line is that this can be a great site. I know that lack of HD for some is a deal breaker, but if not I would actually recommend it for the great value. Be prepared for some frustration though, and when the server supports it, be prepared to download then because it might not last. |

I’m not sure that we have different tastes at all. I think the problem may be a combination of us each talking about something different and the fact that I might not know what I’m talking about.
First the fact that I don’t know what I’m talking about: my only experience with Rocco dates back to the days where he was rough for the sake of being rough. I haven’t seen enough of his more recent work to realize that he’s changed. Consider me duly informed. I downloaded a bunch of it from the EA site and will definitely watch it.
As for degrading porn, I view anything as degrading that is obviously over the top and clearly intended to degrade. The measure I use isn’t the Dominant person (usually male) or me as the viewer. I judge degrading on how the woman appears to react to the situation. Max Hardcore is probably the poster child for rough and degrading porn, though there are others too, like Khan Tusion. What makes me think of Hardcore’s and Tusion’s work as degrading is because they clearly intend it to be that way. There is no sense of it being something the women are into and there is no sense of fun. It’s as if they wouldn’t want the women to be into it and enjoying themselves.
I mostly agree with your comments on Kink.com sites. I’m a huge fan of their stuff because it is hardcore BDSM without being degrading. The submissive women on the sites clearly enjoy what’s happening to them. And even though I rarely watch the interviews before or after the shoot, I know that they are there and the women comment on what they liked and how into it they were. It’s obvious that the women who work for Kink.com are into BDSM play – it isn’t intended to be degrading for the sake of degradation. Any degradation is part of the play that brings the women enjoyment. But like you, I find that the biggest problem with Kink.com sites is that they can seem a bit sterile and repetitive. It may be that the individual sites focus so narrowly on one or two aspects of BDSM that it becomes difficult to get interested eventually. The Training of O is a bit different in that it is more dynamic and uses more BDSM conventions. I understand that many people don’t like the strict roles in many Kink.com sites, but I think that is part of the allure that I like. So on this point at least we can admit to different tastes.
So I’m off to view some newer Rocco stuff. And if the scene you’re referring to is the one in Rocco Ravishes Hollywood, then you’re absolutely right about that. That is truly an amazing scene!

Thanks for the information on Evil Angel over at Videobox. No one really mentions this is detail in any of the PU reviews. I've been curious about EA and Vivid as add-ons and wondered if they're worth it. Sad to say, but I wonder if these add-ons are now necessary to make Videobox worth a renewal since they seem to be using second and third rate American porn to supplement a steady diet of second rate European stuff.
I guess abuse is in the eye of the beholder. I see Rocco as just a bit less abusive than Max Hardcore but I don't see some of the hardest stuff on the Kink.com network or Society SM as being abusive. I have no idea to explain this different perception. Rocco does have quite a following and is certainly a talented director and performer.

SteveO - there is one other possibility that I have no info on. Evil Angel DVDs are also offered as an additional-cost 'channel' at Videobox. I don't know how much extra it costs and I don't know how much overlap there is, but that could be a better value. But you are right - the EA site is easily worth the monthly fee.

They have such a great catalogue of older titles that I was hoping to get access to. I suspect that it might be more work since they have to convert it to digital first. And it is possible that some of the directors only had a loose association back then. I was particularly hoping to get more older Joey Silvera titles. he had two exceptional series in the 90s - Butt Row and Fashion Sluts. Those are hard to find now. And Joey seems to be more into transexual stuff now. I remember about a decade ago renting a new Joey Silvera DVD just because it was him. It was from his Rogue Adventures series. I must be naive because it never occured to me that Rogue Adventures could be a code word for transexuals! Some of the older Buttman stuff is there too. But like you, I can only take the newer, abusive Evil Angel stuff in small doses.

Evil Angel bills itself as the official site of the Evil Angel Studio. They have a large, though certainly incomplete, collection of EA videos. As of today they say they have 443 DVDs. Most of those DVDs appear to be complete. EA Studios has been around a long time and they had been a favorite of mine for a number of years. One of the reasons I joined (apart from the $9.95 monthly price which may be only through TPB and PU) was to get access to a lot of their older titles. I was a bit disappointed in the site in that most of their older (and in my opinion, best) titles aren’t available.
For the older titles that are available, the site commits what I think is an unpardonable sin: the stars are all listed a “N/A.” How can you, the studio, not know who the stars are in your movies?
The site is more about the newer titles from EA. I know this is a personal opinion, but one of the reasons I liked the older EA was that it was hardcore but still not abusive. Their latest directors, Rocco Siffredi and Nacho Vidal come to mind, have built their later careers on abusive sex. Once in a while I’m okay with it, but it seems that most of their scenes are rough. Same with threesomes and group sex – I’m not exaggerating much when I say that it is hard to find a scene with one girl and one guy. If you like that, you’ll like EA. (Also, EA, with directors like Joey Silvera, seems to have a lot of TS stuff. I’m not into that and I wish they had included some of Slivera’s older work before he went a little freaky.)
Technically the site isn’t perfect, but it up to par with similar sites. The navigation is relatively easy, but less thorough than it could be since you can only rely on pulldown menus. If there is an actual search function I’ve yet to find it. One technical aspect to the site does seem to be a bit unusual, but since I’m not well-versed in technical stuff I’m not sure. The problem is that file sizes seem a bit large for the resolution of the file. For example, one file I checked has a bitrate of 2568 and a resolution of 640x480 and the file size seems a bit large at 720MB. Subjectively it doesn’t look as sharp as HD.
Download speeds aren’t super-fast, but they are consistent. I have a 10MB/s service and would usually see total download speeds of close to 1.5MB/s. That’s certainly on par if not a bit better than comparable sites.
The bottom line, though, is that I’d still recommend a membership in this site. If you like new EA stuff (and like some of their older stuff too), or if you like rough group sex, then there is lots to like here – especially for the $9.95 fee. |

Denner - don't do the clean up. You'll regret it. External storage media is so cheap it isn't worth your while. Back in the days when I was saving everything to DVDs I did a purge. Then along came reasonably priced (at the time still expensive) external means for storing a lot of data. My first WD external drive was a scant 120GB. I've spent countless hours and a lot of dollars finding the stuff I deleted in the name of space.
My point is that there is no need to sacrifice and you'll regret it.

And I agree with mbaya - when I have a new membership I'll spend some time thinking about my likes and dislikes in the site and what information may be useful in a review.
