I'm not very technically savvy, and I looked for some information here but found nothing. Is there a direct correlation between a clip's bit rate and the screen dimension? Some clips might have a 1200kbps bit rate and dimensions of 720x480, or something like that. I realize that the higher for both numbers the better, but what does each mean and are they related at all? Could you have a high bit rate (1700kbps) and a really low screen dimension and vice versa? I've been having a spot o' bother with the good folks at Diabolic. I posted a thread here and a warning about a serious flaw on the Diabolic review page. I also reviewed the site back in 2007 and I want to add a new review since the site has changed so much. The only option I have is to edit my 2007 review. Can I re-write the whole thing? If I do, will the posting date be updated too? Help is appreciated. M | |

The reason I ask is that that was the last date for a full review. I just got a membership there hoping to pick up a few older scenes from some of my favorite series (Lewd Conduct, Spring Chickens, Un-natural Sex). The last reviewer, James4096, noted a few things that seem to have changed. He says that all the videos are called the same thing and that there is only one size download available. That doesn't appear to be the case now though. My issue is this: the videos I want were added to the site sometime prior to April 2006 and it appears that many of the videos added to the site prior to that have dead links and can't be downloaded or viewed at all, even though they appear on the site. This includes Lewd Conduct 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 20 and 24 - all of which I want scenes from. In fact, it appears that 41% (!!!) of the videos uploaded prior to April 2006 are dead links. My question is this: has anyone else experienced this and emailed about it? I'm wondering if maybe the site is undergoing a thorough re-work (file names and different download options) and they are working their way through the library. I'm still kinda pissed though, since I bought a membership specifically to buy a lot of titles that don't have working links. This will be my second subscription to Diabolic and I liked it last time and this didn't seem to be a problem then. I've sent a message through the usual link on the site, and I realize that it might be early next week when I get an answer. I know this will probably met with howls of laughter, but if they can't fix the links I'm going to ask for a refund since I haven't downloaded anything else I wanted (I did randomly download a couple of scenes that were uploaded recently to make sure my problem wasn't user-oriented) and the scenes that I wanted and appeared to be available when I signed up aren't really available. Okay, maybe not all porn, but at least the mainstream stuff. The stuff that is posted on VideoBox, American Vice and similar sites. The stuff that makes up the bulk of porn these days, and what seems to be the new gonzo. First a brief history lesson for the younger people who may not have seen earlier post-VCR porn. In the late '70s and early '80s pretty much all that was available was what would probably be seen today as couple-oriented porn. There was a story line and the stars were required to act. There was a plot, there were characters and there were long bits of movie between the sex scenes. The fast-forward button got used a lot. Then in the early 1990s the format changed. Gonzo porn was developed and movies were no longer required to have a plot and characters that could justify the sex scenes. Scenes could be just fucking. That was what a lot of us wanted and I think that is still the case today. But my concern is that gonzo was different back then. The movies themselves may not have plot and characters any longer, but the scenes at least had some setup. There may have even been some thin connection between the scenes (as in a lot of early Seymore Butts stuff). Some of the early practitioners were people like John Stagliano (aka Buttman) and Joey Silvera. Their stuff was a breath of fresh air compared to the stuffy 'feature films' that came before them. And they used brief setups to get the scenes started. Maybe it was a girl on her way home from school, maybe it was a girl 'auditioning' for a shot at stardom. It doesn't matter, but it was the norm. Hell, even Max Hardcore had some kind of setup back then. These days the norm seems to be 'This is star X and Star Y, today they're going to fuck for you.' The guy is probably naked and the girl has some skimpy clothes on. They do oral, then screw. The end. I know there are still a lot of videos out there that do have a setup, but there are a lot more that take the easy way out. Am I the only person who laments for the early days of gonzo? Surely I can't be the only guy left who likes a little bit of setup with my porn. | |

I'm new to VOD. I don't really like streaming so I've avoided it. I've been trying to watch some porn from my glory days of the mid-90s and have had some luck finding them available for download. Three of the titles that I really wanted to see were streaming only. I was able to get one from Adult DVD Empire and the resolution was fine. (I don't know how to objectively measure the properties of a streaming video, but subjectively it seemed pretty good.) Two other videos that I wanted to see were only available on Gamelink VOD. I paid for streaming access to both and was really disappointed with the resolution and overall video quality. In fairness to Gamelink, these are mid-90s videos and are probably taken off an old VHS. But the streaming video I got from Adult DVD Empire was from the mid-90s and was fine. My question is this: does anyone here have experience with Gamelink? Did I just happen to buy two movies that are poorly streamed? Are newer releases better quality? Final question: PU seems to be mostly about download sites. I haven't found a lot of information on the VOD sites (both streaming and download). I've been downloading a fair bit of stuff from several of these sites and can certainly pass on some information on the forum if anyone is interested. Thanks M | |

Can anyone give me some advice on which download manager (free or pay) is best? I'm looking for something that is easy to use (for someone with limited computer skills) and won't screw up my computer. Advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! M | |
