Nice review. Thanks for sharing. I have browsed through the ATK Hairy Site before. I enjoy a natural look at times. Too much hair can be a turnoff, however. Then again, everyone has their own intersts and there is something for everyone.

It is odd today that a little bush is considered something that would appeal only to a niche market. Back in the 80's, a shaved vagina was considered a fetish niche. Then the trend became popular and everyone started shaving--even the guys. Suddenly, pubic hair became evil. They even had a magazine called 'Shaved' and it featured women with total shaved pubes or a brazillian shave. Believe it or not, it would actually be filed under the category, 'bizarre fetish.

Tattoos and nipple piercings are also something that is a recent incarnation. In the past, they too would have only appeared in a fetish publication.

Yes, they are starting to get it together a bit now.

Ideally, for all sorts of reasons, I feel they need to have a similar format for all their sites.

It would be easier for the paying customer & easier for the techs to maintain.

Especially glad to hear that this site has gotten an overhaul. It was maybe even worse than ATK Premium for navigating and getting content. It WAS organized, but in Byzantine fashion.

Now if they could fix ATK Petites so that it's easier to navigate and well, READ, I'll be happier than a squirrel on a nut farm. (Pink type on blue background? Pul-leeze! Have they ever read Websites That Suck?)

New format

I had noticed the comments about the ATK sites receiving overhauls and the Santa Claus of porn sent me a promo offer to rejoin so I was a bit, happily, surprised at the new changes. Everything now looks nice and colorful, easy on the eyes too. It doesn't feel like I'm looking at a site that hasn't been changed since 1998. So the initial appearance of the new format gets an A. The models are improving too, in my opinion, I have already found a couple I hadn't seen anywhere before, that have over 2,000 photos each already.

The update schedule is now much clearer and easier to find. By my count they are updating with 7 photo sets per day on Monday-Saturday and 10 videos on Sunday.

That's an impressive update count, 42 photo sets and 10 videos per week.

The newest pictures, tried 3 different sets from 3 different studios, seem to be coming in at a consistent 3000 long end resolution.

The newer videos have an HD option that is 1280x720 and they do run very smoothly. I had been having some problems with HD videos causing odd color blotches during playback.

Very impressed overall so far with this longtime favorite that I've had my share of complaints about over the years. The site is finally catching up to the models. I may even give Galleria a try after several years of being away since this one has impressed me this much with its changes.

I just joined ATK Galleria, you are right. They're images are similar. I find myself very frustrated. I got excited to view some of the larger images, just to be frustrated with the quality. The pics are not crisp, there's no fine detail. There are so many with the faces fuzzy, blurry, or out-of-focus.

What does someone have to do to find a site with good quality, crisp, natural pictures? Someone help me please, lol.

I'd have to agree with your review. What you say is also true of ATK Galleria -- despite the larger image sizes that they now offer, ATK's images often lack detail and look processed. I think at least part of this is due to over-compression.

ATK Hairy is probably the best quality, but it's still a mixed bag, some photographers being pros, while others are clearly amateurs.

It's me again. I hope everyone has been doing great. We have been very busy at ATK and I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for taking a fresh look at the site for us. We are always interested in our members thoughts about the site.

I wanted to address on thing in the review and that is the different sizes in the thumbnails. We are going to launch a redesign of the site in about 3 weeks. The bigger thumbnails you are seeing is going to be the new size on the redesign. We made the decision to start creating the new thumbs now so there will be less thumbs we have to change when the site is launched. I hope that makes sense.

I completely understand your point about them not matching or lining up correctly but it is just a temporary issue.

I'd been away from this site for about a year. On the current join, I found some good improvements but also some things that had kept me away since the last time.

Being a pic fiend, I'll focus on that. Since mid-January this year, they've been doing pics in 3 sizes -- 1024, 1600, and 3000 -- with zips for each size. (Funny how the reviews have missed this.)

But they're still reposting older sets in 1024 on weekends. I wonder if they could repost them at least in 1600 instead. They've got some very nice "legacy" material of girls like Breanne Benson, Aneta Smrhova, and the latina Marlena, but these are nothing new to long-term fans of the ATK sites. They're just re-runs. Why not do "encore presentations" instead? ;)

And the thumbs for the newer galleries are bigger (good) than the older ones, so you get this mix of thumb sizes in the gallery listings (bad), the 125px thumbs mishmashed with 200px thumbs. It looks really tacky.

Who cares, you ask? It's why we have building codes, clothing sizes, paper sizes, and layout concepts. What would you think of a product catalogue that mixed different sizes of images on a grid, with big, empty white spaces above all of the smaller ones? Anyway, don't even think of asking me "who cares?" I don't fucking care if you don't. Go write to the International Organization for Standardization and tell them you don't care.

Getting back into the site after a year meant going through the many categories and trying to catch up. They've got 13 softcore categories and 10 hardcore categories. OK, fine, variety is the spice of life and this much has got to be the stuff of five-alarm chili, but why not have a straight chronological list to keep things simple? I mean, I don't want to have to think in terms of "dime pieces" or "masturbation" OR "toys." Just who and when will suffice.

Besides, once you get into a category, the only heading at the top of a list of galleries (this is also called a gallery) is the number of the gallery of galleries. "Gallery 84," for instance, of 16 thumbs to galleries. Of what? Like, where am I? There it is, in the browser's title bar! "nudism 84."

I know, they're trying to keep things organized, and they do, but it doesn't work anyway when you have to struggle to maintain a sense of virtual place while you're trying to enjoy the pictures of naked women.

Still, with the caveats explored above, I'd recommend the site. There's some very nice exclusive material. Quite a lot of it, in fact.

Now gimme those raffle tickets! LOL

Great review, mbaya! I found the same thing was true with ATK Natural and Hairy. Inconsistent picture sets, too many almost identical pictures in any given set, models that wore progressively more tattoos and piercings. Lousy search engine. And to think that ATK was my favorite for years! I feel for you!

Well, I would say that the smaller set, where you would like to see more has done its job. ;0)

One of my pet peeves is the bulking out of photosets with 6 shots of each pose.
Take the shots for sure, but take only the best ones, FFS do some editing! :0E

Your last paragraph I agree with too.
Unfortunately, the art of capturing a proper striptease has largely been lost.
For instance, very seldom these days do you see the removal of hose & shoes in a photoset.
It can be one of the most erotic parts of the striptease.

I tend to bounce back and forth from focusing more on photos than videos, then the next month will be focused more on videos. I also have mixed feelings about the photo set sizes. I'll see some small sets without any nearly same poses, but think I would like to see a little more. Then I'll see a set with 300 pictures with half of them being nearly identical poses as the other half. A few of the photo sets on ATK Exotics were around the 100 MB size, but most were 15-40 MB. I've downloaded photo sets from one site as big as 1.2 GB.

My really big problem with photo sets is the skip of the tease that you can see in the videos. The perv in me likes those photos where the model's panties are pulled over just slightly enough to sneak a peek, but more and more these days go from standing in thong to laying nude without any of the middle parts included.

Yeah, back to the old the models are good enough to make up for the lack of technical quality. Now, some of those newer videos, like Emy Reyes, those are I think 640-720 high end res and look pretty good, not HD, but they aren't terrible and they're in full scenes. The ones that frustrated me was Wendy, who is one of my favorites on ATK Exotics and some of her movies are split into parts. It wouldn't be so bad, but she's one of the models feature on the front member page. Still, I was in a photo mood and the full zips made up for it.

Funny coincidence, right after saying I wasn't familiar with the dime piece category, I heard a guy say, "She's a dime piece, a fine piece of female specimen". Jess is one of my favorites as well, also Emy Reyes earns the dime piece. I do like the originality of using dime piece, but I found searching through the dime pieces to be a subjective mess.

I think you are right that the ATK sites are photo oriented.
For sure they are, & none the worse for it.
The skill sets required for video & still photography are more diverse than might initially strike you. Whilst a lot of sites are trying to do both few do both well.

As it is a photography site though I wish they would get away from the idea that bigger is always better.

Some of the zip sets on the other ATK sites are well in excess of 100Meg. That is a lot of stuff to sort through to find the small bits you like.
I am missing custom zips even more now.

Sorry I ranted a little off the point there!

That ATK and their sites have certainly not had the best scores/words for some time - and understandably.
Like in your review:
"Movies, while some are good, most aren't."

It seems like the old story about ATK - and to follow up, you say:

"Many of the good ones (movies) are the older ones cut into parts." - BTW same as ever.

Anyway - after reading your review - am I wrong in the presumption, that the main PROS - are the quality of models?

I looked it up after I started seeing photo sets from ATK Exotics at ATK Petites labeled "Dime Piece" and was thinking - "WTF?"

Of course the curators of ATK Exotics have different tastes than mine, so I rarely concurred with their judgement that the photosets posted as "Dime Piece" photosets matched the definition above.

I recommend that they go to a more descriptive categorization, but I suspect that they're quite happy being the only porn site with a "Dime Piece" category and will keep it as is.

I was really happy to see that ATK Exotics now has full set zip files. I wanted to add this comment before re-reviewing it since the last review mentions the photo sets being only downloadable in parts. That always bothered me too. That's fixed now, so thank you ATK.

Besides fixing what I thought was their biggest flaw, they are still bringing in some of the best exotic models in the world. Emy Reyes is one of my favorites and they have 35 photo sets, nearly 5,000 photos there and 6 videos of her. Emy is fairly rare on sites. It's not too surprising to find 1-3 sets of her, so this collection is huge. Also, with the addition of the full photo set zip downloads, it's worth mentioning for the collectors, Aneta Keys has 11 photo sets on here that are very rare. I think all 11 are exclusive and these were early in her career before she got the tattoo on her hip/butt.

I'll re-review in a couple of weeks with more information as it looks like the whole site has been improved.

I wanted to let all of you know that the ATK Lounge has been redone and is now a forum for you to post all of your comments about the sites we have. You can comment on anything you like or just talk to other users.

Simply go to http://www.atklounge.com/ and use the user name and password you use for your membership on the site. We know not everyone who enjoys ATK material is a member so we have two areas for you to enjoy. I posted the $20 a month deal from this other site regarding Met Art a few months ago and then TBP added the discount a few weeks later. I imagine / hope that will also happen here. No since on TBP losing out on revenue streams that other sites are offering and you figure TBP carries more clout than some of these other discount sites.

I don't particularly like "cheating on" PU/TBP either but money is money (from one cheap bastard to another).

I found I had the same problem with ATK Galleria, tons of material and pretty girls but a deadly sameness to the picture sets. Only the faces changed. Originality is sadly missing.

Different races but...

The girls are of quite a few different races (aka not overwhelmingly caucasian), but they're all basically of the same body frame. It's like have 20 chicks with all the same bodies. Yeah at first it's nice, but after a while you want something at least a little different. Just skinny girls and small to medium sized breasts.

I am not presently a member. When I was, I thought most of the girls were great, but some of the white girls were not exotic and did not belong with the theme. Loved the explicit pictures, nice photography, but the videos were not interesting. Since I am a video guy, this was disappointing.

If they're using a macro to make the zips, it could easily enough be adjusted to one zip for all photos in a set.

Zips can be made with what's built into WindowsXP. Left click on folder, choose "Send to ..." then "Compressed (zipped) Folder" and that's that. ATK Exotics tends to have around 8 or so new sets per day (except for the recycled old crap on the weekends). ATK Galleria has 16-20 new sets per day except Sunday and Monday.

Either way, it wouldn't ruin someone's wrist to make 20 zips in one day. And it would take a lot less time than it would for someone's coffee to cool off.

I agree although I would prefer to see them make the effort to go back and rerun all their sets in a single zip file, I would settle and be happy if they just did it for the new sets going forward.

If they are doing singles for premium, I am not sure how they can't incorp the same procress for their other sites. Can't imagine it would take a programmer all that long to go into their software and make the tweaks to make it doable.

I do appreciate the effort that Karups did to go back and rework their zips. Karups and ATK must have had the same system for doing their updates back in the day.
