Selective "Natural" Models

For those that think abbywinters really is about "natural beauty" should read what Madison Young had to say about them:

"I did shoot with Abby Winters but they are now located in Amsterdam so I shot with them in Holland. I was actually quite disappointed with their company policies and was given the wrong impression about the company. Their company�s values claim to honor the �natural girl� but then made me feel under the microscope with a �grooming check� before the shoot and after a day an a half of shooting with me cancelled my remaining shoots due to a �grooming issue�. When I was asked what kind of �grooming issue� I could possibly have they reported that I had a blemish near my collar bone that would make it impossible for them to shoot me. The girls they shoot must be completely blemish free because they don�t want the girls they shoot to wear any cover up or make up. So perpetuating the idea that all girls are with out blemishes is somehow more natural than the idea that a girl might wear cover up. Needless to say I was very disappointed in my treatment by their company. I guess it goes to say that all production companies are not always what they appear to be."

Commendable, and certainly a colorful review, vexbot. Twas One of those that did its job well without a lot of technical jargon.
Can't say, however, even with your towering score, whether it's swaying me in either direction; and maybe that's because I joined this site a long time ago and it had pretty much then of what you've cleverly described in this review.
It may be enough, though, to tilt my decision toward another shot.

Tomjones and I exchanged several emails, and cleared up his concerns. He did join on a rebilling account (perhaps accidentally), he did forget to cancel his rebills (assuming he had not signed up on a rebilling account).

We credit his account with the un-used time he had paid for (~150 days). As he only has occasional access to broadband, we advised him of our ability to suspend and un-suspend his account, so it's only active when he has broadband access (we do this for folks in the armed forces quite often).

We agreed to disagree on rebilling account plans. As others have suggested, it's the norm (ironically, we get more complaints from customers whose rebills have filed (eg, expired card) than we do for having rebills in the first place!

We did miss one of Tomjones' emails, and that's what caused a lot of these problems. He seems satisfied now, as are we!

Hi Tomjones,

Garion Hall here, Owner of AW and GMBill.com. I'm trying to ignore the editorials and understand the facts. From what you have posted, it seems that:

(1) You joined AW on a rebilling sub
(2) You did not cancel rebills
(3) You were rebilled
(4) You asked for a refund for the rebill, and were denied

In principle, that's pretty much our policy, but we are flexible in some circumstances. Note that we notify you in four separate emails after joining, on each page of the join process, AND on every page on the site when your next rebill date is (if you have not yet cancelled rebills), AND we make it simpler than pretty much any site in the world to cancel your rebills (no need to go to the billing provider, you can do it from AW itself).

As to changing the policy for automatic rebills, that's fair criticism, but unlikely to change for us. As other posters have mentioned, it's just "how it's done" - everyone understands it, and we don't get complaints about it. It provides an incentive for us to keep updating the site (thus keeping members), and for members to view the site (and keep rebilling).

Your example of "main street shops" does not hold water. Consider a subscription to a magazine or a gym - they have MUCH more strict rebilling policies than porn sites.

If you'd care to notify me (off-list if you prefer, on garion.hall@abbywinters.com) with your SubID so I can look into the specifics, I'd like the opportunity to do that, so I can post back here our stance as it relates to your circumstances, and explain to you the case (or, if an error was made, correct it).

I understand why you are making the "it's an industry standard" argument, although I don't believe re-billing should stand in the remaining places that it continues to be tolerated. I might be more flexible in my views and rate them more highly for their product if AW was willing to rectify omissions and misunderstandings they can easily verify after the fact. They (so far) exhibit zero regret and deny any scintilla of culpability while asserting thus: "...we can assure you that Abbywinters does not engage in or tolerate deceptive billing practices or unfair treatment of their members in any way, shape, or form."

I did read your review pros, which is why it's more of a shame that you give such a poor score to this popular site for doing what pretty much every site does. Any sites you've joined that don't work this way are in the very small minority; and again, by this logic you will score almost every site listed on TBP at 50.

I am neither condoning nor condemning the practice of automatic rebilling; just stating that it's almost universal in the industry; I think every site I've joined rebills until cancelled. It's easily dealt with as Cap'n mentioned; and most sites make it very easy to cancel (difficulty in cancelling WOULD justify a poor score).

It's unfortunate that you perhaps weren't familiar with this when singing up to AW - although I see on their join page, each option has 'rebilling' stated very clearly next to it.

End of story for me, at least :)

Yes, it is a standard practice with many second-rate sites who've failed to recognize its negative effects on their subscription rates and choose to boost profits with deception rather than effective promotion and customer service. I've subscribed to several more thoughtfully structured paysites that do not re-bill automatically. Most sensible pay-site webmasters have dropped automatic re-bill. If you read my review "pros" you'll see that I largely approve of AW's high-quality content, however its current billing scheme leaves me cold. AW could choose to bill users for services rendered, but has instead made a practice of denying responsibilities which I believe should be accepted by any merchant: payment in exchange for goods and services their patrons utilize, no more, no less. I would like to see such schemes disappear from an industry that needs to step out into the bright light of mainstream commerce.

Whilst I appreciate the effort you have put in on this, what the others have said is quite correct.
It is normal practice in the industry to continue to bill until you cancel.

There are a couple of ways around it.

Either use a non-recurring subscription; some sites offer this as an option at a slightly higher price; or cancel the card it is billed to in which case a rebill will fail.

As tangub said, that's a little harsh - suspect this may be your first pay site join, since it's pretty much standard practice with porn sites to do recurring billing and leave it up to the customer to cancel.

Whether or not you agree with it, you'll end up giving all sites 50 because of it :|

I was drawn to girls out west more the AW too, but those reviews did me in for AW. Now reading reviews on GOW I'm getting a bit skeptical. Apparently they go for a real natural touch, "Dirty underwear on some" and "some girls need to take a shower before the shoot, gross!" Is severely detouring me away !

I can't handle stuff like that. Not clean ass makes me sterile for days on end. I stumbled upon a set on my last site Little mutt with that and i was actually grossed out. Deleted the zip set of it and all.

If you try it first make sure to get a review up, Ill be interested in your findings, Messmer is wondering about it too. I want to know if it is actually only a 77. Would be good to get a trusted guy's rating for it.

I kind of got that impression whenever I visited the site, thinking of joining - I know it's big with a lot of material, but the options thing is a bit over the top and if you want a variety of stuff, the full package is quite expensive.

I've seen some material from here and liked it - and as you say, others have rated it highly, so I may try it at some point - but like you, I'm slightly more drawn to Girls Out West so will probably try that first.

Thanks BradyH! I do agree that it's all subjective. What's the greatest site ever to one can be ho-hum to another. I simply love the fact that the girls are so natural and are acting so natural, compared to most other sites. Because I have developed a fondness for videos and subscribe to all three sub-sites I have found tons of good material to download. I especially love g/g material as well as Intimate moments .. so, perfect for me.

BTW, I was tempted to join Girls Out West myself, but in their latest emails to me I found their latest sample pictures had become too warm for my taste (too much color, too much of an orangey cast) while I prefer my color temperature on the cool side as in AW. If you join GOW I would appreciate if you clued me in on this subject because I was always fond of that site as well! Was too colorful just a fluke or are they all like that now? Thanks.

This site didn't impress me too much, but that's me and my taste. It obviously impressed you which is good ! I'm glad to see some one honest put up 100, It's how you felt about the site and although it shouldn't have to be heavily justified i think you did a great job on everything.

All these reviews are all about Opinion and how we liked it. So if some one loves it and feels it shouldn't be anything under 99 then who is to say they are "wrong"

Thanks, graymane. I'll have to take a look at Figure Girl. As to AW, just remember that its charm for me is in the "innocence" of most models. It is very refreshing to see the girls act so naturally and without all that excessive make up. If you do like glamor or something a bit "harder" it wouldn't appeal to you. Were you a member previously? If you weren't it might also prove to be very costly to get all three sites. Of course it the TBP discount for all three sites is still valid it would still be a good deal. I don't want to scare you off, it's just a heads up in case you are not into "natural!"

Thanks, otoh! Here's the low-down on Girls Out West. I was tempted to subscribe to that site first because my experience with AW wasn't so great with my last subscription. I really did, along with others, find their videos too overloaded with talk with only a few minutes left for some sort of strip. Now there is a nice balance, the girls still take their time but nevertheless get where you want them to go faster. It is a nice, natural, charming progression and I love it.

Now to get back to GOW. That site is indeed rawer and raunchier but their latest sample picture sets disappointed me greatly because they have switched to a much warmer color than I like in the meantime. I love "cool" color temperatures on my TV and in my videos and pictures. If you like deep, vivid colors GOW might still be a good choice. The models in both sites are refreshingly natural and amateurish which is their strongest selling point for me. AW beats them for looks overall, though. At least I think so.

The sets I have downloaded so far look fine to me, Capn. Nice lighting, nice contrasts and "cool" colours rather than the over-saturated ones one sees so often in other sites . Can't speak for all of the sets of course.

Hi gareth, did you type in your former username and password under returning customers? If you no longer remember write to the address mentioned above. I didn't get a reply first time around, as you can see, but when I sent them another email this time they did respond and supplied me with my former user name and password and showed me step by step how to rejoin at the reduced rate. I haven't done so yet because I am waiting for a new external drive at the moment. :-)

not only does it look like the special discount has gone from PU but also if click on returning customer on the AW site it does not work.Ive tried contacting them twice but recieved no reply.Its a pity because I really like this site and may rejoin but support is non existant although strangely they say that if you have any questions then you can post on thier forums but you have to be a member of the site to post which basically means that I have to join to find out if theres a special rate to join the site !

The TBP discount is in place on our end - usually, TBP lists a coupon code, but I cannot see it on our review page on TBP?

I tried two different times, the second time after closing Forefox and deleting cookies etc. as always suggested, but the special price of $ 33.15 for our members is nowhere mentioned on the join pages of AW. Only a regular price of $ 39.00 for all three sites. Could someone please confirm the special is still in effect for TBP users. Thank you.

P.S. AW if you should be looking in: there appears to be a special deal for returning members but I have long forgotten my original user name and password. To whom would I write and how far can you go back in your data base in order to find me?

Hello there,

The pay-per-view idea seems to be the perfect idea in my opinion... Too many times, I join a site only to find 2 or 3 girls or videos that I really want to see.

If you were ever to add a pay-per-view plan, I would sure take a visit! Just don't make the prices too ridiculous.
