Just a heads up for those of you who tend to cancel in advance, that the trial on this site will shut down immediately when you notify them, rather than the customary end of trial period. Add to that the lack of confirming emails when you subscribe, and the total lack of email responses to questions, and it feels a bit unpleasant...

I knew I'd get a comment from you, graymane, because I had read your review carefully before I decided to take the leap and knew that you liked the site a lot.

I really don't know if it is the resolution we use on our monitors, but for me every video I've looked at in streaming so far has looked blurred. And the downloaded HD content was honestly and truly not as good as the identical scenes I had on my hard drive already. Same with the other downloaded material, similar scenes from VideoBox and Videosz, as well as from the now defunct American Vice, all looked crisper by comparison on MY monitor. I wonder if it is the (mostly) .avi format they are using? I find scenes done in mp4 generally sharper, with wmv taking second place but I guess what it always boils down to is individual, subjective taste.

I thought I was being very fair in my assessment but I am sure there are many others like you who would disagree. Happens to me at "Oscars" time as well, I usually dislike the most highly awarded movies and go for the stuff the critics deplore. So don't let my low score upset you. :-)

Golly, Messmer.....I'm a bit surprised you didn't like this site.
I've been a continued member for over ten years, and although changes made have been unappealing, the overall quality for the money still stands head an' shoulders above any others to which I've been a member
Rageing Buddist ( a pretty savvy reviewer) gave this guy a 90's+ rating.
well, rest easy the cost was little more than pocket change.

Many thanks but my period would have ended yesterday so I don't think there's anything else that can happen. It was a shame because I actually liked the site, but what happened makes no sense and spoiled their site for me.

I'll be brief by simply echoing the sentiments of RB. Further, I've been a member of SkinVideo for a long time and I ,too, at times had minor complaints... but they were settled in a timely manner.
They have a direct telephone line should you want to go that route.
That number should be on your bank card statement..... or somewhere on the site. Their preferred email address is admin@skinvideo.com I wish you luck in getting the matter resolved.

I'm sorry to see stuff like that happening at a site like this. I'd always gotten quick responses from them when there was a problem - and I certainly never had access blocked for any time I had coming to me. I hope you just fell through the cracks somehow, cuz I like going back there every once in a while and I (of course) don't want to have to play those games.

So I join Skinvideo and the site is pretty good. However like always I go to my settings and set it up so it doesn't rebill me at the end of the period. Wrong move! As soon as I did it, my account was completely blocked of accessing any more material even though I still had three days remaining. Sent a message to customer service asking why I don't get the rest of the days I paid for, and no response.

I'll take your word for it, RB. I sincerely believe your're calling it like you see it. All I can say is we're seeing this thing obviously the same way but interrupting it differently.
For years my old skinvideo page has popped up the same way...displaying my favorites and features in the exact manner. About three or more months ago an entirely new page appears with the new features and my old page recessed in the background. I have to manually click on it each time to bring it to fore.
Sometimes it doean't work at all.
I tell you RB, I know this site like the back of my hand, and it ain't the "back of my hand" anymore.

I did go to the site, logged in, and, other than the color of the page, didn't really didn't see any dramatic change. The only real change I see is that they dropped all but one of the lists of tags on the left and made the rest visible with a click on "See all tags". They've been using that same general layout for quite a while now. Unless the color blue is disturbing to you... I can't say I see anything dramatic there.

Oh yes, RB....there is a dramatic turn-over here. Everything now is in the color of blue, with a list of the different nitches (sic) and fetishes in the left column. You might trek on over there and you'll see what I mean. In the right, upper, darkend background you'll see the old program with an option to switch over. Being a non-member might not reveal this, and if that is the case, then trust me, the change is real.....and disturbing.

A good review for one of the few sites I keep going back to. But I wouldn't say they only recently changed their configuration - it's been about 3 or 4 years since they left the old Guba style format.

I just ran through a couple of pages and it seems they're back on track with some "departures from the run-of-the-mill gonzo". A good mix of amateur and what they call pro-amateur stuff going up.

But, I cleared out my cookies and I'm still not seeing the discount advertised on TBP

Is it getting boring?

One thing I've always liked about SkinVideo is that you can check out what all's been added to the site and that the previews are animated gifs. That always seemed a little better to me than a thumbnail and a 10-15 word description. But, as I just came from a run through of about the last 10 pages of new stuff, all I'm seeing is what might be called run-of-the-mill teen porn. Other than tranny and gay scenes, there doesn't seem to be a lot of fetish material going up on the site. That's a shame - this has always been a site I fall back on when everything else has gotten boring. If this keeps up, I might have to actually turn of the computer for a while - and that would suck!

The info we have is that this site no longer carries the newsgroups. It was overhauled recently when they replaced the newsgroup stuff with licensed DVD content. They haven't switched back, have they?

Still a great site and well worth joining.
