Things are weird, all right! Just went to the site and sure enough the updates are unbroken, yet they never showed up any time I signed in. The fifteenth of this month was the last update listed in my browser. The company is located in Aruba, The Netherlands Antilles, but there's an announcement on their entrance page, dating back to February, that leads me to believe that their server is in Atlanta.

Just in case this might not be so I took a speed test from Curacao (Aruba's next door neighbor. Aruba itself wasn't listed) to Eastern Canada: The speed was quite good at 9000 kbps but, by comparison, I tested Atlanta and got a speed of 15180 kbps or a 1897.5 KB/sec transfer rate. A far cry from 89 KB/sec. :-)

BTW, referring to a previous post complaining about a lack of response from support, someone does speak English there because I got a reply from them when first I joined and did their survey. Of course, it could have been one of those automated responses but I find it hard to believe that someone in Aruba, involved in any business at all, couldn't speak enough English to serve the majority of their customers.

Ah, well, it's over and I'm glad that things appear to be working for you.

Hey Messmer, that brings an interesting laugh out of me. I once heard of a site years ago that would give anyone who was reviewing the site, a different membership than those who bought memberships, so the reviews would be very high, but the work they put into the actual member site, very low.

Not that I think that is the case, but I do think browsers can play a part in problems. I do know that American Vice, DVD site with 5 free tokens for download for a free trial almost never works at all with any browser except IE. I generally use Firefox, and am using it right now. If I'm not using it, I use Flock, which is a new variation of Firefox that makes my sports blogging a lot easier.

You can still see the updates if your subscription ran out. Go to the main page and click, "New Releases". It will let you see all of the updates without logging in.

With the download speed, that one really doesn't make much sense. You're listed from Canada, I'm from the US, so we shouldn't see a big difference in download speeds, though if you ever want to see the difference locations can make on download speeds, go to speedtest.net and click one of the pyramids far from your location, make note of your speed, then do one closer to you and you can see the difference.

Here is an example of mine.

When I use the Los Angeles test, my download speed is 9,981, my connection is 10M, so that is almost exact.

When I use the Johannesburg, South Africa test, my download speed is 4,792 which is less than half the speed I was getting with the Los Angeles test.

Even worse, I just tried connecting to Calgary, and only got 2,355 download speed. I never realized there was this big of difference. I'm not for sure where Adult Movie Club is located, but those few tests makes me think that could be a problem that you are having with the speed. Just not making a good connection with their server. I also tried connecting with King Rupert, Canada but only got a 4,100 speed with it. Truthfully, anywhere I try to connect, I get a better speed with than the Canadian test sites. I actually got a higher speed connecting with Europe on one than I get connecting to Los Angeles, which is about 20 minutes from where I am.

Things just get weirder and weirder ha ha.

Twilight Zone time, exotics4me. Things were indeed as Denner and I described them ... for us! He didn't mention the lack of updates but I haven't seen any since July 15th. I even hit the reload button on my browser just to make sure I wasn't looking at an expired page even though I don't even use the cache! :-) Sorry to say I can't go back to see if the updates show up now because my subscription just expired. It was a horrendous experience for me. The flash streaming didn't work most of the time, download speeds were terrible, around 89 KB/s, worst I ever experienced with a site, while you seem to be quite content with them. Could there be something about the browsers? Denner mentioned that his Netscape didn't work and I used Firefox. Let us all sing: Two different worlds ... !"

I don't understand the differences we are seeing, as you all are also seeing differences with the TBP reviewers as well. It really is like the site has two different personalities!

I had planned to come back to it to get the rare exclusive ones they have added lately.

As far as an email goes, I wouldn't hold my breath, they don't speak English. So I am guessing they don't read it either. Go back and check to see if those updates are showing up for you, just to make sure we're not getting a different site.

Now I know! It almost looks as if they have shut down for a thorough overhaul or they've gone out of business (no updates since the 15th). The site is a total mess...

Search-engine provides you with a lot of stuff you are NOT looking for.
Site only works in Explorer, not Netscape (which is my favorite).

The rutine for streaming is that it works once or twice - then nothing works - not even the downloads. Then you have to shut down the browser and start over again.

When searching for models: Mostly their name do not appear by the thumbnails for download.

Never got any answer after mailing them.

My membership runs out in a couple of days - and I won't be back

Beware!

I've been trying over the past three day to look at some videos for possible download. I can still get into the site but no matter which "flash" button I push to get a preview of a video there is no response from the site itself. No, my subscription has not yet expired!

Alarm bell # 2: The last update to this site was on the 15th of July, nothing since then. They used to update once a day with 2-3 new videos.

Alarm bell # 3: Still no response to my emails to support, this is weeks after they were submitted.

Thanks, exotics4me. I can see now where you would be quite content if you download to an external drive while you are doing your work. Speed, as horrible as it is, became less of a problem for me once I lined up five scenes or so for download shortly before watching my usual nightly TV shows. By the time I got back to the computer they would usually be there waiting for me. I must remark though that in this site's case speed was NOT reduced by making multiple download. I get consistent speeds between roughly 80 (sometimes less) and roughly (sometimes more)110 KB/s no matter if I download one clip or five. As to streaming, I don't use it to watch, I use it to get an idea on what a scene is about. Support is horrible as well, I am still waiting for two answers from over a week ago.

However, just like you, I found some interesting material that will complement some of the videos I got from Video Box and the price was right. So it wasn't a lost month! Thanks for your courteous and thorough reply. I appreciate it!

Hey messmer, I didn't really have that many major problems with this site. There are probably a couple of reasons, though. For one, I noticed that you and Denner both had trouble with the streaming video. I don't use streaming video. Most of my porn is downloaded at work on a portable hard drive, that I bring home with me and transfer to my main computer. So that one doesn't apply to me. I also don't stream videos because it gives the webmasters the false idea that we prefer streaming over downloading, see Viv Thomas Videos, where he seriously considered going to stream only, because he noticed more people were streaming than downloading.

Some of the other small glitches were fixed by switching to the Flock browser, which is a new variant of Firefox. It is a "media" heavy browser. One thing that I don't think some people realize is when you select to stream a video, especially if it doesn't work well, this will cause your browser to be unstable until you either close it or get the attempted connection to break. Similar to having say 3 or 4 videos downloading at the same time, it is going to make your experience, slower and less responsive.

The biggest reason though, I didn't join the site as I explained in another reply to use it the way I would a site like Videobox. I joined it to supplement my collection since it had videos that I had never been able to get before. That probably would cause the experience to change as well, since I only downloaded maybe 5 or 6 clips per day.

Last, I would also wonder about our locations. I have trouble on some sites that others don't, like say sites based out of Russia, a lot of the members have no trouble with these sites, where as I have a ton of connection problems, connecting from the USA. I did drop the score a few points, but I had trouble dropping it much because there is a lot of rare content on there that I can't get anywhere else. Sorry to you and Denner for having so much trouble with it though.

Did you ever find a reason that tempted you to lower the original score you gave this site or are Denner and I two of the unfortunates who keep running into technical problems? Just curious because it does happen sometimes that everything goes swimmingly for one subscriber while another has nothing but troubles.

Now I can't get into the site despite the fact that my subscription still has two weeks to run and Epoch confirmed that. Maybe they read my review! :-) Joking aside, I won't try very hard to straighten things out. The site's been nothing but trouble (technically) and they are probably down at the moment. Potential subscribers beware! Seeing something different in video is not an unmitigated pleasure with the guys from Aruba!

Not Ready For Prime Time!

After all my efforts to see some good in this site I've come to the conclusion that there are way too many technical bugs that have to be ironed out to make it worth even $ 15.00 a month (our special price). An hour wasted this afternoon clicking on one non-working link after the other was finally the straw that broke the camel's back. If I see a review down the road that reports that all the problems have been fixed I'll be happy to re-subscribe. I keep getting the feeling that the webmaster is still busy with setting up the site and is feeling his way as he goes along even though the site itself has been in existence for a while.

While navigating the pages most thumbnails wouldn't load, when getting ready to stream flash, at least seventy-five percent of the links opened to a blank page advising me to seek technical assistance, the speed of the couple of scenes I managed to grab was still around 80 - 110 KB/s.

So .. cancellation time. I found out two things if anyone should be interested: the subscription will run its full course and there is also an offer attached that allows you to re-subscribe for $9.95 a month. Sadly, I'm so disillusioned that even ten bucks seems too much to face the daily aggravation of dealing with this site. I wish them luck, the potential is there, but I think I'll try again in a year.

I wish I could get between 600 - 650 kb/s. I get a tenth of that speed! And I'm still waiting for an answer from support to the complaint I submitted five days ago. It will be my one and only month with them. If they can't find the time to respond to a subscriber within a reasonable time (2 business days?) then I don't think they'll make it as important players in the Porn Video market. I'd cancel now but am afraid that, like some other sites, they might cut me off right away. As I keep saying there is good stuff on the site if you look hard enough and I want some of that, even if I have to download five clips at the same time to compensate for my average 68 kb/s. :-)

Been away for some days - but NO - have not had any reply....
The speed is lousy when browsing, very lousy.
But in download with manager I get about 600-650 kb/sec - and thats all right.
What anoys me very much is that shitty thing with the streaming (the best way to preview here). One or two streams and the browser goes dead - no more streaming or even download before you restart the browser.

Hey Denner, I took the site's survey (User Satisfaction) the first day there and mentioned the problems I was having with flash streaming and speed. I got a prompt reply the following day, telling me that they were having problems with flash, mainly because they were trying to convert as many DVDs as possible in order to give us that choice) and that they were working hard to correct the links that kept giving us blank pages and the advice to seek technical help.

They never mentioned my speed problem, though. I wrote support a separate email on that but am still waiting for a reply. You may notice when you first enter the site that they had speed problems earlier on this year and that they were trying to get some mirror sites in various locations in order to improve the speed picture for their customers. Maybe they didn't get around to it yet or maybe it's just an attempt to keep us pacified. My speeds up and down the Eastern Seaboard of Canada and the U.S. are usually blazing. I tested Atlanta from my location and came up with 1.89 MB/s, a far cry from the 89 - 200 KB/s I get from this site. Still and all, I like their offerings .. and that's from a pictures' fan!

Both this user and Messmer have experienced some serious streaming-problem at this site - see the review from exotics4me - and replys.
Just mailed them about it, afterall.
Will let you know if anything comes out of it...
(Too bad, because they sure have some fine and also somewhat more rare content).

Hi again, exotics4me... just joined - and your're absolutely right - a vast amount of scenes thats not at VideoBox, VideosZ and alike.
Some fine latin and asian (thai) videos.
But, man: I sure have some tech-problems with this site.
Just wonder - you may also have experienced problems later on??
First: I cannot run this with Netscape (my favorite, since you can watch videos during downloads - and stop downloading if you do not like what you see).

Then I go for streaming, before download (at Explorer) - but after 1 or 2 streamings nothing works (not even download) Have to shot down the browser and start up again.
For quite some videos the thumbnail only works on and off - and to many times I get a blank window saying: Failed: Contact for assistance.
The assistance is mainly faq...and nothing there. And at this point I do not bother to mail webmaster..
NB: Man, I did not see Messmers reply - it seems the site has a tech-problem, for sure!

Hey, exotics4me, great review. I subscribed to the site yesterday and find basically the same things right and wrong with it that you listed above. The only thing I would disagree with is your report of good speed. To me it's a real problem. Pages take a long time to load, and my download speed for the average scene is somewhere around 89 KB/s, less than a tenth of what I normally get. I also seem to have problems with some of the links that allow you to play a video in Flash. Sometimes they don't work on the first or second attempt but when you go back later on they do. Still and all, I believe your score is right on and I, too, would recommend the site. It took me a long time last night to download 5 scenes but they are all keepers and worth the price of the subscription already. :-)

Hey apoctom,

I had noticed the TBP review as well, but also noticed they updated the site facts to say no DRM.

I have a general rule that won't let me join more than one DVD site at a time. I can't believe I have porn rules that I abide by! I don't think it is a challenger yet to VB, but if you like Combat Zone or Fifth Element studios, I do think it is worth joining for a month to get those DVDs. Besides those, they have many little minor problems that need to be worked out, as Monahan mentioned, a lot of the scenes don't have model names, so you can't find all of the scenes of a particular model unless you know the name of the DVD titles.

It still, to me, is probably the 2nd best DVD site behind VB. I am a huge fan of VB, so it took a lot for me to say could challenge VB. As far as recurring membership, no, I have only recurred with VB, when it comes to DVD only sites, and won't with this one until they tweak all of the navigation issues.

I also think the price is a typo on the main page, but it did worry me a little since they had several other wording problems. It made it almost look like they were trying to be misleading, like the "20 pages of" part instead of 20 DVDs of. They have 15 DVDs per page, so if they had 20 pages of that would be 300 DVDs, not 20. Plus the wording on the 8000 DVDs, when it was only 8000 scenes, 2000 DVDs.

See what I mean? One mistake can be looked over, but they have numerous ones. I didn't let those errors change my score any, but I do wish they would fix them since all of those would be considered false advertising.

The search feature to me wasn't very useful, even without the model names on some scenes. I found a Simony Diamond scene that had her name listed in the scene, but still didn't show up in my search for her.

These are the little tweaks that they need to make, then, I think they could possibly make a run at VB.

I just took a look at the site - not all that appealing to me, but I appreciate Exotics' thorough review.

One thing I noted that fits into the "funny, weird & lazy" category is that they seem to have lifted their porn star bios, or at least some of them, from Twisty's for no apparent reason.

I checked out the site and it's my guess that the $4,95 was a typobecause of the sperial $14,95 TBP price.

The site permits nonmembers full access to the navigation and scene details which I really like, But the one annoyance I have with Video Box occurs on this site even more, and that is the large number of cases where the porn star name is "not available." While in some cases that can be true because the producer does not make them available, there are so many missing names that the search feature is of marginal value.

That means a serious collector has to go to another source (iafd.com, for example) to get a listing of all titles in which a porn star appears, then go back to this site and do a title search.

At $14.95 I can't complain and will probably sign up to grab a few scenes missing from my collection from Video Box and other sources that look like are in the A.M.C. collection.

Great, thorough review. I appreciate the details, particularly about the DRM situation. The TBP review still says that the site's movies are DRM protected, but the site and your reviews says DRM has been removed.

I am a current month-to-month member of VB. While you said that it is not yet a challenger to VB, do you think that this site is worth joining at the same time or is it one to join for a month and come back later? I guess I am asking if you would keep a recurring membership to this site, given its low price.

I don't know who gave you guys that special price but I signed up and got charged $29.95. as of 11-20-07.....Also I tried to log onto the site after I bought the membership and I could not log onto site. I had to call paycom and they said that it would take between 2 to 3 hours to try to fix and to call them back if it does not work....I would think if you run a web page you would make sure it's WORKING! OK, tech support did the job in about 45 minutes....

I don't NOT trust you. However, neither 95% nor 99% is 100% completely removed. With my luck, the 1% that is still DRM will include the movies that I want to download. That's why I am waiting for TBP to update their review when it is complete.

I was also hoping that a comment following up on your review might get TBP or the webmaster at Adult Movie Club to respond to our posts about DRM and state, once and for all, about the status of the removal process.

I saw that you have 4 anonymous no trust votes. Rest assured, I was not one of them: I don't believe in anonymous voting. If you would post a few more consistent, good reviews, I'm sure that the rest of the community would issue trust votes to reflect the quality of your work.

According to the site's tour, they have removed DRM from their movies. This might need to be updated in the TBP review and may impact the score. I'm waiting for all of the DRM removal process to be complete or TBP updates its review before joining.
