NEVER MIND. Looks like the 1 Gb is in effect. I have no ide what is going on with this site. I downloaded nearly 2 Gigs yesterday with no problem, then today I get the usual "blocked for 24 hours" message...?

Two things from boredsurfer:
(I would modify my review but it's been up for over a week.)
First, I must admit that it was easy to communicate with the webmistress, and she did say that if I was cut-off from downloading and needed to finish a certain movie, to e-mail here and she would increase my limit accordingly. Nice personal touch.
Also, I just left the site and I downloaded about 1800 megabytes, and didn't get cut off. She had mentioned something about kicking the dl limit up to 2 gigs, did she do it already?
I give up.
(I'm going to repeat this post on bobjob's review, because I think it needs to be seen. This will, of course, further feed speculation that bobjob and boredsurfer are one and the same. Again, I give up. And I still like abbywinters.com!!!)

Yeah, I looked at that review, and it is weird the way the caps come in about the same places....I guess he looked at my review first...

As for the time frame, I think they just put this dl limit in, so any new member would be kinda taken by surprise.

It took me a while to figure out what the heck you were talking about. My first thought was, "Why is this guy so hung up on the fact that I used Caps?" Then I saw the other review.

No, I am not "bobjob." I can only suggest that the reason you have two reviews complaining about the download limit is that the limit seems to have been put in place only a few days ago, without warning.
I am not going to start using a proxy just to try to slam a website, which, as you know, I actually liked, aside from the dl limits.
I am still getting beaten up around here for liking abbywinters.com, so why would I add more hassles?!

I wish I had read "boredsurfer's" review or I never would've joined the site. We both got burned by limitations which were not made clear before paying for membership. But no I have no affiliation with "boardsurfer." If you can look up IP addresses and see we're two different ppl you can see that for yourself.

Yeah, that's the point exactly. If the total I could download was something like 10 or 12 gigs in a month and that would be it forever, I would still consider joining such a site. Just don't leak out the material so that I have to keep coming back.

In addition: I agree that while at 1G/month it would be a rip-off which could easily warrant a refund, but with 1G/day it's more of an inconvenience.

Well, IMO 1G/day isn't too bad; not really good, but not too bad. On some other site I've seen that they're doing it because of password sharing; I think there should be better ways to deal with password sharing, but at least they said so :-(.

Interesting that I've already argued with one guy here on PU that 10G/month isn't a problem for most :-), but IMHO 1G/day is worse in a sense at least for me (while I cannot imagine DL-ing more than 10G from single site/month, I can DL all the stuff I need in one day, and it can easily be more than 1G). So, from my perspective 1G/day is worse than 10G/month :-).

That's one gig per day, which is not awful, but the file sizes are pretty large.
The thin that bothered me was that the restriction was not mentioned anywhere in the sign-up process, AND I did e-mail CCBill support about it and they said that they only dealt with the funcitonality of passwords, not site content, etc. A big cop out.
I didn't pursue a refund because I really don't want a refund, I just think that the download limit hurts an otherwise good site. I mean, you can still pick up 30 gigs in a month, that's quite a bit of this sort of thing.

And about CCBill - did you try to tell them that as the essential service restriction wasn't advertised, you can consider disputing transaction via your bank? Occasionally it does help :-)
