Site changes

Note that the TBP review is incorrect.

Videos appear to have been re-encoded without DRM. But there are no HD videos available. The highest bitrate appears to be 640x480 1mbps. They look horrible. Horrible looking streaming is also available.

**edit** There now is a "HD videos" subnav filter. There are approximately 585 of videos listed there. The videos themselves are not marked HD, but the few I looked at are 720p, 4800kbps. The quality is pretty good on these videos, but the selection is not great. Also, there is no update date, so I can't tell if they are still updating HD videos or this was a one time thing.

I just entered the site and saw a Victoria Vonn scene from Red Light Disctrict with Mark Wood, if memory serves me well i downloaded said scene from videobox some time ago. I am going to take a wild guess and say that there is at least some content which isn't exclusive.

Note on the Trial Subscription

I purchased a trial subscription to the clubredlight.com website, it worked fine the first day, but the second day, I couldnt download ANYTHING.

I think part of the problem is that here and on Epoch (the biller) on those two websites it lists it as a 2 day subscription, but on the red light website it lists it as a one day trial.

Anyway, it's a decent website with pretty good content, but watch out for that.

I totally agree. I joined cause they sent me an offer to join for $5.95/month. and even at the discount price, its a rip off. None of the new scenes are available for download, drm or not....and the old scenes are drm protected. Which makes no sense cause all of them are available to stream for free on virtually every tube site. And you can download most of their scenes with no drm protection at pornstar.com or porn.com.

So they give their scenes away at competitor sites, but on their own site, you cant have it? Dumbest thing I've ever seen. I can join pornstar.com for $2.95, download tons of redlight scenes, but if I buy a full membership to clubredlight...I cant download anything. Freakin joke. Well, the joke is on me cause I wasted $5.95. I hope everyone reads this and avoids this stupid site. They advertise 15 bonus sites. False....its the same content from the main site, just broken down by niche....you can accomplish the same sorting by using the categories feature....I hate clubredlight!

At the moment I test the trial.
When cancelled it epoch offered me a monthly recurring subscription for 9 � (sorry, I don't remember quite well, it could be 9 Dollars, which is even cheaper) instead of 20 � / 25 $.

Try to join several times (not doing the whole deal with creditcard and all) but just skip it after you get into the join-page. It sometimes works so that you automatically are offered a diffenrent billings-co - I see they also use CCBill - and they take Visa from Europe.
If the "skipping" does not work, ask the site-support to give you their join-link via CCBill

Tryed to join site for month. Epoch do not accept VISA from Europe. NO problem to join other sites (i am member of o lot of). Costumer support just saying try onother card, don�t have any.

The newer sets I downloaded had good quality: around 800kb/pic, the older were only 150kb/pic, but still better than Brazzers and Realitykings.com which are my benchmarks.

The zips did only contain 100-200pics though, much less than what I am used to.

Don't know exactly how many sets there are but less than Brazzers etc.

But hey, the trial is only 2bucks so try it and then cancel as I did!?

Hey Trashman, I don't fully agree on your "non exclusive" comments.

Many of the Club Red Light videos will end up at VideoBox and/or VideosZ at some point but not all of them and they lag 12-24 months compared to Clubredlight.com or the videostore release as far as I can tell.

So for 1-2 years they are fully exclusive.

DRM is removed?!

there is no longer any silent DRM on the newer videos as far as I can tell. The older videos had "DRM" in their file name but that is gone from the most recent videos and there is no sign of downloads of the rights in the background + the videos play fine on my xbox 360, which is not supposed to play DRM protected videos.

+ There is no download limit as far as I could tell, the TBP reviews says it's maximum 3 videos per day but I downloaded much more than that.

I really like this site now! I gave it a 75 before but I might re-review!

I'm considering joining but would like to know - as a Mac user, what are my download options? DRM'd WMV will not play on a Mac (no matter what type of license) and often I find that the alternative formats on other sites are poorly encoded.

Trial Access Problems

I signed up for the trial and was unable to access the site. I e-mailed them and was told to call the support number. So I did. They said they'd refresh my access and to try again in an hour. I did. Still didn't work. I called back. They said no one had refreshed it, but they would do it this time, and to wait 20 minutes. So I did. Still didn't work. I called back. They changed my username and password and told me to wait an hour and try the new log-in info. I did. Still didn't work. I called back again. The guy on the other end tried my info and couldn't log-in either, verifying that it had nothing to do with my computer. They canceled my re-bill and told me I'd have to e-mail Club Red Light support to see about getting access. I e-mailed them last Friday. I still haven't heard back.
Sure, it's only five bucks, but it was also an incredible waste of time.

We really do appreciate this website and everyone's contribution and comments. A few months ago we saw a lot of posts of everyone expressing their concerns about our drm's and that the movies would not work unless you�re a member. So we listened to what everyone said and changed our license to a silent license. This means that these movies will work even if you�re no longer a member. Silent DRM.

Hello.

I've been searching the web and i couldn't find much regarding drm, meaning that i still don't know to what extent is pernicious. I know that technically it qualifies as spyware yet i wonder what will be the damage caused due to its installation.

It appears to me that they feel no urge to remove said silent drm any time soon. I've red the comments posted on this matter -and i am certainly grateful to you for posting them- but i'm still hesitant on wheter to join or not.

This is what the reviewer from www.freeones.com wrote about it on 11-29-07: "I just checked it out; DRM is a lifetime license, you can play the videos after your membership has expired, you dont have to enter your login/password when you play them. This is also knows as silent DRM

Our drm is set-up to manage our content and to make sure it's not on any peer to peer, torrent, websites. Occasionally, we may insert an html message before the videos to let users know about any new websites or videos that we think users may want to see. For example, we do plan to display an html message in the beginning of each video to let users know that the www.amyfishercaughtontape.com is now available. I'm interested to hear if you find that to be informative or intrusive.

Don't let these sites get away with this rip off! There are too many quality sites out there that will not require you to install this spyware onto your PC. Porn companies have been fleecing the paying customer for far too long now. Boycott sites such as these until they get the message, as other sites have! They will tell you that you may watch these videos after you leave their site, but the only way for you to be able to watch the videos is by allowing them to be connected to your PC. Support sites that give you honest value for your money!

Hello,

We've changed our DRM settings to a "silent license" the last 2 months. What this means is that you will have the rights to the movie for life. The DRM is set-up to manage our content and to protect it from peer to peer networks.

It sounds like you may have downloaded an older version of our DRM which has the instructions to check to see if you are a current member or not. However, if you download a new movie of ours you should have no problems of being able to watch it again.

What's a pitty for Red Light District!! They produce such good movies and have such an average website!

You can't donwnload all the videos... (exemple: Jayna Oso in 1 in the Pink 1 in the Stink #1 fantastic but made in 2003, allowing a download would be not extraordinary ^^, and Sasha Grey in Gang Bang #5, for me the quintessence of porn).
As you've said "the vast majority of the archive, particularly newest and oldest DVDs are only available as streaming videos"

And the videos you can download not always work well... (exemple: Jasmine Tame in Spit Whores, the video stop after 4mn and Tobi Pacific in Fresh Ripe & Ready no sound after 8mn)

DRM Plays when recorded to DVD????

To follow up my reveiw on Club RLD, I want to pass on something I picked up this morning. As stated, the videos are protected with DRM software. Sucks, I know. But, for some reason, I recorded six DVDs-worth of them. This morning I was cleaning my collection and put them in to my drive. Whenever I played any video on any of the DVDs, it went through the motion of installing the DRM rights--then they played!! All of them!!
Now, I haven't been a member of the site for two months and when I try to access with my old User Name and Password, it will not let me in. But it will play the videos I burned to disc. It did not work when I was not connected to the internet. I tried a couple of times. However, when I was connected, it installed and played.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know the reason why this happens?

I'm sorry for having been perhaps rude with my comments about Club Red Light and the DRM Protection. It's just that most of the time, DRM Protection doesn't let you keep videos for life. I've joined many website with DRM Protection and after my membership expired, I just couldn't watch my videos again, Windows Media Player would prompt me for a login name and a password (probably a valid login info which reside on the website members database if you actually do have a valid membership of course).

Every time I want to join a website, I take a look at TBP reviews and my decision is highly based on the reviews and warnings I see there (example: DRM Protection warning).

The fact is, I didn't know there was silent DRM protection (or silent license as you call it that way). If you're telling me I will be able to keep videos I download for life, I'll probably sign up soon then!

Anyways, I apologize again for my misunderstanding.

Khan is correct. We do offer a $4.95 trial membership. It's a three day trial that gives you unlimited access to our entire website. Also, while it is true that we have DRM protection, the DRM is silent license, which means that you can download them and keep them for life. We use the DRM to manage our downloads. The DRM has no restrictions whatsoever; we only use it for us to have a managed listing. Trial Membership

Well it seems that Club Red Light no longer offers a trial membership because I just visited the website and when I try to join, the only available option is a full membership at the price of $29.95 US.

I whish I could join the website with a trial membership so that way I could at least get the pictures because there's no way I'm gonna pay for a full membership when I can't even keep the videos (DRM Protection). It really sucks... they would have get my 30$ if it wasn't of that stupid DRM Protection. Websites like AssTraffic, AllInternal (all these exclusives websites from Perfect Gonzo) don't have DRM Protection and that's why I've joined them many times (like 5 times minimum for each of them). Everytime I join one of these websites, I cancel my membership but I always come back few months later to get the updates so nobody is losing here... I mean, if I come back to get the updates, I get my updates and they get their money right!? It seems like websites like Club Red Light and many other (which all have DRM Protection) think people would sign up only once and rip all the content out of their websites if they wouldn't have DRM Protection. But the thing is, a LOT of people hesitate to sign up whenever there's DRM Protection and when there are no DRM Protection, people join and come back later, and again... and again, like I do!

Anyway, it just sucks when we can't keep what you download... except for the pictures, but pictures aren't enough, you need some videos!

While I agree that DRM sites are the bane of our porn perusal, I joined this one for a month because I admire their productions. I had read that the streaming was friendlier than most...and it is.

Now, I cancelled before my month was up because I am not going to show continued support to DRM sites. They need to catch up with the sites who once had DRM and are now removing them.

In my book, DRM sites get an automatic 20 points deducted from the score. Downloading means transferring it to my computer, and KEEPING it. DRM video is not downloadable IMO. These sites need to suffer in the pocketbook for this onerous practice. They need to ask themselves, "why is our membership down?". thanks for the appropriate low score!

Thanks for biting the bullet for the rest of us. Most of my mistakes were made in the 4 or 5 years before I found The Best Porn reviews. Now I wouldn't sign up for any site without checking PU/TBP. I've been online for quite awhile now and was a slow learner.
