You say the site is not worth the cost - less so if you have the misfortune to come from Europe because of the exchange rates they use.

The current exchange rate they use for buying tokens using UK pounds sterling is around £1 = $1.10 where the commercial rate is currently around $1.55. From the Eurozone it's as bad - they get charged on a �1 = $1 rate where the current commercial rate is around $1.35 = �1.

So - a complete rip off unless you can make your transactions in the good old US$ which most of us nowadays cannot.

I used to use the site a bit but haven't been back since they changed their rates and I won't be back again. I also know others from around the world who say the same.

Live Jasmin Fan Club Experience

Live Jasmin started offering a Fan Club functionality about a year ago. Most models have it and I�ve used it a couple times but I find it�s very lacking. Reading members comments in the site�s forums, I got the impression few members find any use to it. Fan Club monthly cost is 19.99 credits (19.99 USD, 19.99 EUR, 19.99 GBP) but some of the options are also offered when you become a Premium Member (15 credits every two weeks).

Anyway, here are some of the promised features and what you really get:
- Half price on the recorded videos posted by that model. Probably the most interesting feature but few models have videos and you still pay quite a hefty per-minute price. Other members may also see the videos but at the regular price.
- �Hi-res� pictures of the model. This is funny. All images are 1024x768 regardless of the orientation of the original image. This means all images end up with some degree of letterboxing, specially painful in portrait ones where more than 50% of the image ends up being side black bars. You may download them one by one but you must click at least three times to get each image.
- Interview with model. All models get the same generic questions. Depends on what the model is willing to say and how fluent she is English.
- That model�s schedule, which the site claims is an extrapolation of her recent online times but, from what I saw, was highly unreliable. Basic members see no schedule at all and Premium Members get all models� schedules if they pay 10 credits every 15 days.
- Access to snapshots taken by other members during privates with that model. Largely depends on the model because some have a hundred but others have just a handful or none at all because they�ve blocked this option. Basic Members see only a blurred version but Premium Members get access to all models� snapshots at no extra cost.
- Free messaging with that model. Basic members are charged 1.2 credits per internal message sent to a model. Premium Members get a reduced price plus free messaging to models they�ve had a private with in the last 15 days.
- Allegedly, you appear in a different color to the model when you enter her room. Premium Members are also singled out but, if you are regularly taking a model private, it�s highly unlikely she will not identify you anyway regardless of your status as soon as you enter the room.
- You may have the site record video and text written during your private shows but then the site charges you to replay at half the price of a live show. I took it as some kind of joke. You still have access to them at half price even if you are no longer a member of the Fan Club but there�s no info on the date they took place and the sample frame often fails to load (site bug I guess) so it�s of little use.

What a Fan Club doesn�t get you here but similar features get you at other sites is a discount on the per-minute-rate of a live show with the model. It�s probably just that the prices here are already the lowest around.

Some sites downsample the video. At MyFreeCams, the site I am most familiar with, for instance, no matter what the resolution of the model's cam, the output is always 320x240. You can resize the video, but the stream doesn't get any better. LJ streams at up to 800x600. Therefore, the same model's video feed will look much better if you are watching her on LJ than when you are watching on MFC.

Not sure I'm really understanding what your're asking but let me make a stab at an answer.

In the case atrapat mentions, where the same broadcast goes out over various networks, then obviously, any difference you see will be a result of the different network carrying the feed.

However, in my (limited) experience with live cams, the variance from one model and the next (over the same network) is almost always the setup they use. Camera plays a part in it but I've also noticed that how well the model has her lighting set up can make a *significant* difference in the quality of the final product.

other then you i mentioned a hughe different of quality for the live streaming. when i find the same girl on different sites, then i write it next time :)

logical it must be like kahn said. one setup at home, different network specifications and the loss of quality is to find at least at the networks.

I've also checked sometimes a model simultaneously at Live Jasmin and other sites and confess I've never found much of a difference in quality apart from aspect ratios and slightly different video sizes. Maybe the fact that Live Jasmin is a European site and most models that work at both places are European has something to do with your perceived quality.

I'm not 100% sure how models are able to stream simultaneously through different networks, but it's most likely achieved by some software that sends the stream to various sites. For practical reasons, I'd discard them having various cameras.

On the other hand, what Live Jasmin claims to be "HD" is quite lacking compared to some of the "HD"s at Cam Crush (a clone of Streamate.com, btw); but the best qualities I've seen there are usually from US models, who are not available at Live Jasmin.

I can't speak to this specific cam network but ...

In general, each cam girl is going to have her own camera setup. I guess it's possible the network requires a certain minimum or maybe make recommendations. However in the end, if they're broadcasting from their own homes (rather than a central studio), then there will naturally be different cameras used.

regarding that site and camcrush i am a little bit surprised.

there is a hughe ammount of same girls,
sometimes the costs differs...ok to understand...

but mostly the quality of the live videos is much better at live jasmin then at camcrush.

do the girls have different cameras? i realy don`t understand that.

Hi Jay - From what I've heard iFriends is a legitimate competitor to Live Jasmin. It has many more American performers -- not sure why that is -- but it's also more expensive and a bit sneaky in the way it charges customers. If you're accustomed to LJ's "free chat" area before you commit to paying a fee, you might be surprised that on iFriends, a similar experience begins charging you immediately, and if you opt for a private session, the fees only increase from here. So be careful -- read the very fine print on iFriends before you do anything. Thanks for replying! =)

If I may correct a few points mentioned earlier:

The primary language is indeed english. But the first language a visitor sees is based on what country he/she is from. All girls speak english. Additional languages are indicated with little flags.

Performers receive 30 or 35% (35 if they set themselves to be visible to guests in free chat)

Livejasmin is indeed the largest in the world, both in terms of visitors, members, and number of performers.

Live Jasmin discovered that if they bill members in Euros and pay performers in Dollars they skim about 30 % off performers earnings depending on the exhange rate, before the split.

After this scam performers get only 25% of their total earnings. Performers mostly hang out in 'Member Chat' with no video feed hoping for the odd private whilst working for better money on other sites.

Live Jasmin is a scam for both members and performers. Better off visiting somehwere like myfreecams.

On the Pricing Policy mentioned above in the Cons section, they have now introduced 'geographical pricing'.

This means that, as an occasional visitor to the site, I bought my credits in US Dollars even though I live in the UK. Yesterday I had bought some credits as I wanted to speak to a particular girl and was charged at a rate of $1.55 to the GB Pound. A fair rate as the official exchange rate is $1.585 to the GBP (source - BBC website).

Today I went to buy some more credits to speak to the same girl only to discover the geographical pricing had been brought in over night and I was now being asked to pay in either GBP or Euros - no option for UD$. Fair enough you may say until I noticed the rate had changed and was now being asked to pay at a rate of $1.11 to the GBP - a rise of 28% in 24 hours.

I posted a query on the forum only to have it deleted within 10 minutes and a private message telling me to go to the online support chat. Absolutely no joy there at all. They are obviously aware this new pricing would anger some of us and had somebody waiting there to delete the threads as they came in. I'm certain my thread wasn't the only one they deleted today.

I also checked the rate for the Euro at the same time and I saw that they are charging at a rate of 1 Euro = 1 US $. The official exchange rate is 1.40 US $ to the Euro so another large scale rip off.

I certainly won't be visiting Jasmin again till this geographical pricing is stopped - it just makes things too expensive plus there are plenty other sites around that are the same or similar prices with often the same girls into the bargain.

So it's bye bye jasmin as far as I'm concerned - I won't be going back.
