download speeds

This site has really taken a turn for the worse. The price is still great, tons of content, but its useless if you cant download it. Downloads speeds used to be excellent, now they are pathetic. Its not my connection. I checked download speeds at reality kings and brazzers, just as a comparison and they were 3-4 times faster.

I'm not a techie, so I dont have any thoughts as to why this is, but its problematic and I wanted to make everyone aware that if you are going to the site with the expectation of downloading......I hope you have plenty of time on your hands...cause its painfully slow!

it must be a connection problem from theiere server, because on every singel server (three different numbers three different computers) the download stops sometimes.
everytime restarting dl is a very boring hobby.

Nah... DRM has nothing to do with downloads that stop. Once you are connected to the file, you're connected period. DRM does not fall into play here.

DRM is when you download a music or video file to your computer and it will record information on your computer to create restrictions like:

- Can't be shared on another PC, common amongst music downloads.
- Will expire after a certain # of plays or timeframe.
- Will expire if you cancel your membership.

The problem is a connection point from your PC to the servers... has nothing to do with the site. Most Internet provider piering points are extremely unstable, and many of them cut you off for a while if they notice a lot of 'sustained' download activity, they especially do this if you do a lot of uploading.

I know for a fact that Pornstar.com DOES NOT USE DRM. I've downloaded and played files after membership periods, shared movies with buddies with my flash drives, and play my favorite ones constantly... no problems.

Just try the download again... it's common that big files can get cut off by Internet connections, wireless connections, etc.

They are HD vids in the sites opinion.

640x480 is not HD by any stretch of the imagination, but its better for them to class that as HD if that is the best res they have got.

It doesn't look too bad of a site actually, but no that should not really be advertised as HD resolution.

Ace, it looks like the site has changed since I was a member. All I can say is that it was all in segments when I was there. It may different now, but I can't tell.

My download speed was a steady 1MB/s. I don't use DL managers, so I can't help you with that question.

BTW, I think porn.com is a better site.

The screencaps are captures from the videos. They have photos also, but these are not connected with the videos.

Sure, it's a DVD site. But actually there is some exclusive video there, they shoot some of their own stuff, although I can't say how much they do that anymore. I think they have 900 pages of videos.

The extra sites are awful, not even worth mentioning. I don't know if they are "official", if they are, they are officially bad.

When you say screencaps do you mean you get the promo pictures of the shoots or just frames from the movie? The free tour seems to suggest promo stills shot with a photo camera while filming the scene.

There isn't any info on the tour regarding the number of DVDs ("1,000s" could be just 1,000?). The samples don't seem to be exclusive: there are probably other sites that have most of the videos and better search engine.

The free tour also says you get access to 8 solo sites including ones for Kobe Tai or Racquel Darrian. Did you get to those sites? Are those the official sites?

Sort by DVD, i dont think I mentioned this. There is no DVD list like you see on VideoBox or the sort. Any generic user unfamiliar with link trial-and-error (more on this in a second) is limited to just browsing by pornstar and by added scenes by studio. You click a pornstar and get the available scenes, you click a studio and you get the available scenes.

Now about that trial-and-error thing.
When you start clicking on DVD titles it should be clear that the link is rather generic:
[site hyperlink removed by me]/members/dvd.php?id=108 (that is an actual link to available movie "World Class Ass"...I removed the hyperlink to abide by rules, which was nothing more than the site's domain, pornstar dot com). With a little modification you can see other DVDs. e.g. if you change the link to "[hyperlink]/members/dvd.php?id=109" you will get the available movie "Just Over Eighteen". Nothing illegal here, it is completely in-bounds.
Right now I'm in the process of going through every movie that I can find so I can build a list of the movies they offer (because the site fails to do this rudimentary task). I am up to DVD number 945 and so far have found 878 available titles. When I am done I can send you the list if you want. It will be a while until I am done, but I will complete it.

Now, the next part is a little fun. Again, it is entirely in-bounds. I don't see anything that would say that we can't do this.
You will routinely find movies with few or no scenes offered. So for example if you go to DVD number 108, "World Class Ass", you will just one scene (which is obviously missing scenes...no porn movie has only one scene). Yet, if you go to Daniella Rush's model page you will see a scene from "World Class Ass" that can be downloaded. So where is the beef?
Well, Pornstar.com is not really very good in listing all available scenes from a movie. It is really annoying. As you can see with that simple example, they list movie scenes on pornstar pages, but not on the movie page, and sometimes its the complete opposite. It is also misleading because all the links are clickable. So if you first went to Daniella's page and saw that her scene from "World Class Ass" is available, you would think to click on the link to the movie and find the other scenes, but its not the case. But the scenes EXIST unbeknownst to most.

So here's the trick. Just hover over the download links for the Daniella Rush scene, and then look at the download link for the available scene on the page for "World Class Ass". You will again see that the links are generic and include the scene number. On the movie page, "DVD quality" links to a file named 768_red005_01.wmv, while the Daniella Rush scene links to 768_red005_03.wmv. It should be pretty clear that the last two numbers are the scene. Just play around with those and you get the downloads for other scenes, most of which are otherwise categorized poorly on the site. "red" in the file relates to the studio.

Search Advice

I just joined Pornstar.com... has quite a few studios that the other DVD sites don't.

Does anyone know how to sort by video? I can search by studio and pornstar, but getting the group of files that comprise an entire DVD isn't too easy.

TrashMan touched on this, it looks to me that he was able to sort by DVD. Any advice TrashMan?

I just became a 3 days trial member once again as I like full trials, I very seldom enjoy a site for more than a week or so; I get bored. the Pornstar.com 3 days trial is one of the best out there if you like general hardcore videos.

Like I said in my review, though, there might be some hidden videos out there that I don't know about as they have not been added as "official updates". These are 2 girls I'm not fond of, so I'm not going to go out of the way to compare whats on IAFD to what is available on Pornstar.com, I'm just giving you the scenes they have listed on each girl's individual page.

Download Managers

A comment that I couldn't fit into the review:

I enjoyed using IDM with this site for first couple of days. It allowed me to queue up the movies that I wanted and download them in batches overnight and while I was at work. It helps to have a good, fast connection and a lot of hard drive space. Unfortunately, it quit working after day 2. Instead of downloading the file, I got a lot of HTML pages with login errors, even though I could login via Firefox and IE. Since this broke after I joined, I deducted a few points from the score.
