I am suffering from periodic stoppages while browsing or trying to download a scene or even when I'm in the midst of making a comment and try to post it. I usually give it a couple of minutes and then try again and this time everything works fine. I think they must be suffering from overload. And, no, it doesn`t happen to me at other sites. Has anyone else experienced the same problems?
Has anyone used the VOD? It seems like the cheapest way to get to see Marc Dorcel and new Private titles. other than buying the DVD. (Lifetime streaming for $10.)
I went to join Videobox a few days ago, going through the TBP link, I am seeing the $12 price slategrey mentioned, but when I went to pay there was no option to add Vivid and Evil Angel like before. So I tried it going straight to it and reverting to the "old site" there was the option of joining Vivid for $10 and Evil Angel for $10, which I had planned on joining both.
This is where I'm confused. Since I know the Kink channel is only available through the new format VB3, if you join through the old site, I know you can switch to VB3 during membership, but does it still allow you to add the VB3 only channels? Though I still prefer the old site, I think this confusion could be a sign that it's time to either revert back and stay back on the easier to use old site or go ahead and move forward with VB3 only.
Different options from one format to the other is just asking for this type of confusion. The other reason this is confusing is VB has sent me promo offers during active memberships that say, "Add Evil Angel for $15" or "Add Vivid for $15". If I join through the old site, I can add each of those for $10 each, from the beginning of the membership.
Here are some stats on the Kink channel on Videobox
I know a couple of PU members expressed some interest in the Kink channel at Videobox, but for some reason you can’t even tell it’s there unless you’re a VB member. So for those of you who may be considering a VB membership and wondering about the Kink channel, here are some stats and thoughts on it.
Pros:
- 254 Kink scenes from various Kinks sites
- scenes regularly added (sometimes daily, sometimes every second day)
- streaming available
- multiple download options (HD, WMV DVD, WMV High and iPhone)
- good download speeds
- allows download managers with the same long (or non-existent timeouts that VB has)
- good cross-section of most of Kinks sites
- membership price is pro-rated in your first month of VB membership
Cons:
- only accessible through VB3
- no meaningful cataloguing of scenes and no easy way to tell which site they’re from
I’m a big fan of Kink and I won’t bother discussing the material. If you don’t know Kink’s material you should read reviews of their sites on TBP and PU as the material isn’t for everyone. But for those who like BDSM stuff it doesn’t get any better.
The Kink channel offers a great selection of scenes from most of Kink’s sites. The technical pros are mostly the same as VB: good download speeds, no obvious timeouts for download managers, etc. The pricing is interesting too in that it is pro-rated for your first month of VB membership. That can make this an excellent deal if you only want a few scenes – wait until the last week of your membership and then join.
Kink is only available as part of VB3. The biggest drawback for me is that opening a link brings up the streaming video. SO MAKE SURE YOUR SPEAKERS ARE OFF! Worse, you can pause it but it restarts again, sucking some bandwidth.
There is no obvious ways to sort the scenes. If all you’re looking for are Hogtied scenes you’ll have to check every scene to find those. That’s a problem that could be easily fixed since VB2 has scenes better sorted.
These are approximate numbers (I obviously screwed up the counting somewhere as I opened every file on the channel…) but it’ll give you an idea of what’s there now:
As I suspected, the only obvious female Kink site missing is Pissing. But I suspect that’s a bit edgy for VB which probably isn’t interested in pushing the limits that much. (Although they do have a couple of Kink’s fisting scenes, and calling almost anything by Kink “mainstream” would be like saying Kim Jong-il was a kind gent with a fashionable hairdo.)
Check "your account", i have been charged for subscribing the extra "channels" Kinks, Reality Kings, Vivid and Evil Angel. Know that i not have ordered them (current member of the orginal sites), canceled, contacted support for Videobox and Metabilling, no answer. Next month they upgrade again and charge. They even have increased basic month rebilling to 30 euros from august, earlier 17,95.

In "Flow Mode" (from what I saw in the free section), you get a carousel of thumbnail sized videos that are continuously flowing from right to left. You see 20 videos playing simultaneously at any time. When you click on a thumbnail, the carousel pauses and you get to see that scene only. Otherwise, new scenes keep moving past and playing in front of you.
You may filter scenes by the usual criteria (sex act, number of participants, etc) but it looked like it was easy to run out of scenes as soon as you added a couple filters. Also, you probably need a powerful computer because video thumbnails kept stuttering for me.
I wonder if some current member could add more info. The email announcing the feature hinted it was possible to see a carousel of scenes from a particular pornstar. It would be interesting to see your favorite pornstar doing the sex act of your choice in 20 different scenes at the same time. Also, watching a carousel of scenes from just one studio or series may lead to some interesting finds.
As of July 20th all subscribers are being redirected to VB3 but today that doesn't look like such a good move. VB3 is not ready for prime time. Many links don't work, some videos won't play and display an error message instead, comments can't be posted .. this is something intermittent and may not affect everyone. Just saying there are many wrinkles to be ironed out yet before VB3 can be declared stable!
Is this really $15 a month for people in the US. I wanted to join but seems a rip off for us Europeans again, £15 when it should convert to £9.12 or there abouts. Why can't it be equal.
