Yeah I dont kill DVD archive sites for not providing ZIP downloads of image galleries, especially when the image gallery contains screen grabs from the movies themselves. If the site was offering HQ images taken during filming then, yes, ZIP downloads are mandatory.
I don't like how they now require you to fill in four fields to login: username, password, e-mail and image verification.
Are videos still available as just 512kbps and 1024kbps? I ask because back in the day that is what I remember as being available, and both were rather junky quality, not to mention the fact that all DownloadPass videos were messed up in that they were offered at 480x360 or something, but the moving image itself was something like 460x340 with 10 pixel black borders on all sides (compare this to other DVD sites which actually offer 480x360 image in a 480x360 video).

I know what you mean, TrashMan, I mentioned that extra step when signing in because it annoys me as well. I'm either expected to memorize a pin number or type in my email address as well as a security code. A bit of an over-kill. Part of it is my fault because I have my browser set to delete all cookies upon closing, so it saves my passwords and username but no pin numbers!
As to your second question: actually most of the videos I have downloaded so far are quite good. That might be because I preview them through their excellent flash player and get a pretty good idea about sharpness, lighting etc. I am also pleased with the bit rate which is at 2042kbps. I have watched all of them full screen and am not complaining.

Do they still have the very thin black bars, though?

Sorry, I had never noticed, and still didn't know what you meant until a few moments ago. In WMP I have the background color set to black so when I watch, without going full screen, I don't see any thin black stripes. Just for the fun of it, I changed the background color to white and, yes, there is a very narrow black stripe on the right hand side. Hope that answers your question!

Thanks for the review messmer,
We really appreciate it when someone takes the time to review our sites. Especially when they've also spent some real time on the site like you have here. I'd like to reply to a few of your points and see if I can help.
Scene link errors happen and we do everything we can to stop them. It's frustrating when you end up in the wrong place. We regret that you encountered these. You can send me an email with some of them if you remember. For next time there is a link just below the download buttons "Having problems with this video? Report the Problem Here", that email goes straight to our Technical Team's inbox where they will fix the problem.
Session Expired errors are actually not what they appear to be. When there is an error with a video it displays a message that says "Session Expired, please reload your browser..." but your logged-in session has not expired, the error message is incorrect. The error is usually in the encoding process and sometimes the user's flash player. We were alerted to this problem just a week ago by a review on this board and the video guy should have a new (accurate, and cool) error message up in the next few days. Sorry for the confusion.
Search filtering is in the works! We have tested our filtering tools on another of our site. It works by filtering search results by category (cumshot, teen etc..) and then by keywords like "police officer" or "glasses". It's pretty sweet and I'll keep you all posted when it's added to downloadpass.com
Sign-in has some extra steps designed to stop password bots. It's a balance between convenience and security. It's come up before in reviews so I'll bring it up with the team this week.
We try and make our cancellation process as simple as the sign-up process. I'm glad that you didn't have any troubles.
Thanks again for the feedback!
Kris

Hey TrashMan,
I never noticed that before! I'll forward your comment onto the right people. We're re-encoding a lot of video lately to increase streaming speed/quality and download quality. I'll let the guys know.
To your size questions - most vids are available for download in HD 2048k DivX, 1024 WMV's and 500k MP4's now. Something for everyone!

And I appreciate hands-on webmasters, Netsirk! It's nice to know that someone is looking/listening. I have indeed spent considerable time at your site already and, except for the small flaws I mentioned in my "cons" (since explained by you), I really like it. A very attractive members area and easy navigation.

We definitely take customer feedback seriously for all the sites in our network.
They sent me the final proof of the replacement video error screen today. I hope you never see it on our videos but it is going to be very effective. And funny! I'll post a pic and link on the PORN.com blog once it's live.
Happy surfing.
Kris.

Good to know. I was only aware of the 1024kb and 512kb, mind you this was near 2 years ago at this point.
Yeah that was my major gripe. I would download a scene from DownloadPass and find the same exact scene on VideoBox. Sans the fact that VideoBox annoyingly encodes at 480x352 (not 480x360) I consistently chose storing the VideoBox scene over the DownloadPass scene because of the black borders surrounding the video image. It was just a minor annoyance that always stuck in the back of my mind.
This is probably asking too much, but one thing I hate is when sites prevent the use of Download Managers, and I think DownloadPass (last I remember) does not support Download Managers, rather using a PHP based download system. I would really like to see support for Download Managers.
