New Miss America Criticized For Not Being White

I know I've mentioned my issues with the Miss America pageant before--mainly, that it exploits women worse than porn--but there's been some controversy over its newest winner Nina Davuluri for being Indian-American. Yeah, she was born in Syracuse, New York, and there have been non-white winners before but that didn't stop the Internet from unleashing its inner David Duke.

Granted, a competition that's about "beauty" ostensibly judges other things as well but deep down it's looks, and some people just don't want their sash-swathed missus being anything other than lily-white. Frankly she's looks pretty attractive considering that most beauty contestants usually look like permanently smiling transsexual androids. She at least looks remotely human. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D. Rippper, Dr. Stranglove

I never watch it, but I always manage to hear some controversy about one of the contestants. There are plenty of idiots out there who have Tweeter that have say something stupid. The media should just ignore it, but it is this kind of bull they feed on. That's why I don't watch very much news anymore. I aim to misbehave

I think its stupid, I was raised in diversity everyone I knew was of a different race or color and only when I grew up did I learn me and my friends were different.
Being a kid in the 1960's you would think race would have been and issue. But for me they were my friends.
I am sickened when I read assholes look at race, it makes the human race look ignorant. we are all humans.

It also sickens me how both Liberals and Conservatives try and paint how anti-racist they are. But by praising one raise over another they do just that. There should be no college of race or groups of race yet minorities will always stay minorities as long as groups form to praise their race.
I am Indian, not fucking Native American yet every asshole thinks thats what Indians want to be called. No they don't thats the USA governments political correct terms. Not mine.

We are all people, stop labeling us as this and that. In 200 year or less ( if man is still here) races will be so intermixed it will be as if there is no races at all.
I hate the whole fucking idea of minority and race,as I said I grew up just fine without knowing my best friend was Mexican, I mean Hispanic Gees, or Black , I mean African American. And there were my freinds that came over on boats in the 1070's they were, Vietnamese Americans ( are you fucking kidding me) you come to our nation and the first fucking thing we do to tell you there is no racism is to put a label on you.

Racism makes me sick, because in this world we live in it should not exist, but it does because we put blankets over it and claim we are peaceful and love everyone.
If so then stop asking every application for anything you fill out asks a race GRRRRRrrr!

usa is about diversity, if people dont like it they can get out. but also, its about free speech, so they have every right to say what they want

Everyone is an individual & labels do suck.

There seems to be an apparent need to categorise everyone & everything.
There are obvious ways & more obscure ways.
I think 'liberals' do have a lot to answer for in the politically correct arena.
Whilst striving to offend none, they end up offending many.

For instance, the term 'colored' or 'coloured'.
A Jamaican friend of mine once said:
'What is it with this 'coloured'?
It means nothing, we are all coloured. I'm black you are white!'

It's rather ironic that America wasn't named after an American, but after an Italian. I wonder if that would upset the Americans who complain about the current Miss America not being white.

Race is a concept. It has changed over the years. Italians, for instance, used to be considered a distinct race.

There are people who do not seem to understand even what a human being is and who define themselves as human and others as something less.

Technology moves forward. Humanity lags. How can you "skip" an ad that's already being shown to you?

I have been infuriated for years that Miss America is never Native American, what's with all these white Europeans winning! WTF!?

Just goes to show you how shamefully ignorant many folks are, a pity. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

You know what a big part of the problem is with the Miss America pageant. It wasn't always just about beauty. Just look at some past winners and you'll see that the women had more than looks going for them.

-Gretchen Carlson: Graduated Stanford co-host on Fox.

-Vanessa Williams: Award singer, actress and the first African-American to win the title.

-Lee Meriwheter: Famous actress who's been acting since the mid 50's.

Mary Ann Mobley: Well known actress who has also been acting since the 50's.

At some point the pageant became less about awarding the crown to a person but getting ratings. Once you want the controversy rather than the reality than it doesn't really matter who gets elected because none of the participants can really outshine the other. I'd also like to point out that since so many of todays pageant participants owe more to their plastic surgeons than they do to mother nature than of course most of the will more or less look the same. Long live the Brown Coats.

Rampant nationalism masquerading as an innocent beauty contest? (I guess that could explain some of the "git' back to yer' country!" Twitter response to the recent one.)

Sorry, when you mention that one of those she-devil Fox News hosts was a past winner it just gives me another reason to hate it and spew some more of my trademark raging . I believe Miss America and Miss Universe are owned by Donald Trump, so I'm not sure how much politics plays into it, besides they have to be registered Republicans.

The so called "Criticism" was nothing more than a marking tool put out there by some news media nut to create a story. Yes, there are always going to be racists who spew regardless of the object and that's a given but not enough to make a difference here. It's just a bullshit story line run by the news media. Probably TMZ started it. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

It's too bad that she wound up on Fox News but she isn't the only well known person to have done that. There aren't that many reliable news sources and at the end of the day she needs to earn money. I don't know if she believes all the B.S that Fox puts out but if she does then she isn't alone in America. Long live the Brown Coats.

You nailed it Jberry. The media, they don't call it news anymore, wants a story and the pageant wants publicity. Out of a nation 0f 300 million a couple of attention whores get on Tweeter and make dumb ass remarks and they run with it.
This has been a while now, so I'm sure the media is chasing some other foolishness. I don't watch network news anymore. Only when a major event takes place. Like war.

It's the people who buy into this that need to wake up and see this, and most media stories, are a non-issues. I aim to misbehave Edited on Sep 29, 2013, 01:51pm
