One thing is that many videos just give you a green screen when streaming, another problem is that the streaming has been unusually jerky for days. The download speed as well has been well below average for the past few days, No, no other sites do this to me. Maybe a bigger server is finally required? The reason I comment here is because VB have not responded to the complaints about these issues when they were brought up on the site.
I haven't decided whether to write a re-review of Videobox, but I did add the Japanese "Soft on Demand" channel and thought I would share some info on it for anyone interested or maybe even warn others.
I've always wanted to join a Japanese video site, but wondered how I would feel about the mosaic. Lets get that out of the way first. Every scene I've downloaded from Soft on Demand has the mosaic/censorship. There isn't a search filter for uncensored, so I'm guessing it's all censored. I have to say it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. In a way, I even thought the mosaic censoring gave the content a more believable feeling (in voyeur and public scenes especially).
These are the numbers for the channel.

I joined with 7 days left in my Videobox membership and the prorated price was $7.50.
Maybe the biggest selling point to the content are the fetish scenes. There definitely seems to be more creativity in these scenes than the American counterparts. I should also mention, no scene I've watched has English subtitles, so this does take away some since some of the scenes have 25-30 minutes of story building up to the last 10-15 minutes of sex. To put the amount of fetish content into perspective, 347 of the 564 scenes are listed as fetish.
My feeling towards this channel is pretty simple. If I had joined it for the full month it would have cost in the $30 range just to add it. I wouldn't have been happy about it. Joining for a week at the prorated price though, gave me a pretty good view of Japanese porn without the big price. I would recommend adding it for a week or less. I am going to keep roughly 30-35 scenes I downloaded from it. I still prefer Vivid's channel and even Kink's channel.
And one last note, there are no HD scenes or DVDs on this channel.
Any way to spot which stashed stars have videos added recently?
How do you folks tell when a favorite star has a new video added? I can add stars to my stash, but I don't see any way to sort new videos by 'favorite' stars.
I admit, I'm a porn hoarder.
I download dozens, sometimes hundreds of videos, before I even watch one. But this isn't a pornaholic anonymous meeting.
The problem I'm having, quite a few, I'm going to estimate 30% of the videos I'm downloading are not fully downloading. I don't know if the server is resetting or if I'm just downloading too many scenes at one time. I don't use a standalone download manager anymore and I just download 8 videos at a time through Firefox.
I chose 8 as the number since I download by model. Inside the model's page there are 8 videos per line, so it makes it easy to keep up with what I've downloaded and what I haven't.
Any ideas on why the scenes aren't fully downloading?
I've cursed Videobox 3.0 to hell. Then found some positives from it. Then cursed it back to hell. I was so frustrated the last time I was a member that I decided not to join it for awhile.
On my recent join though, everything seems to have improved.
Not only is the navigation not giving me any problems, they also are stacking up the HD DVDs with nearly 800 or roughly 4,000+ HD scenes. They also are offering quite a nice combo package of their extra channels. It was at sign-up, 5 channels for $50. That's a pretty big savings, but I still prefer to wait until a few weeks have passed then add then channels at prorated prices.
One last note on the Roku comment, I did receive the free Roku offer, but it was only when joining for 18 months.
i have been and still a member of videobox but they started to slide. dvds they put now are very old. pornstars who quit years ago are all over the place. maybe because no one is producing dvds anymore but content is becoming old very quickly
I just joined last week, and I'd like to say a few things. First is that I'm not finding VB3 as hard to navigate/get through as it seems that other people are, with one exception. When you do a search for a girl from the search bar at the top of the page, you get all of her scenes, including the ones that may be on the different channes (Evil Angel, Vivid, etc.). But if you go to a girl's profile page and go to her scenes from there, you only get the ones that aren't part of a channel. I can't really figure out why this happens, either. I know that this happens in VB3, but I haven't check to see if it happens in the old format as well. Second, for about a night, I just could not get the videos to play in VB3. If I went back to the old layout they'd play fine, but in the new layout they would never load. This was cleared up by the time I woke up the next morning, but it was still weird.
I've belonged to Videobox in the past and thought it was a pretty good site, but here's the problem:
When I go to the intro page to view what's on the site now.....the pictures slide away like ghosts fleeing from the light. I don't get to view the icons of samples available.
I make it a habit of NOT joining sites that have problematic introduction pages, so have not rejoined VideoBox lately.
Can anyone explain why the poor introduction pages?
Just a note to advise everyone, that VB has added 2 new premium channels.. . .For an extra $15/month, you have full access to Elegant Angel movies (As of today, there are 41 titles, with 3 titles being added every week. . Also added is "Soft on Demand" - pixilated Japanese porn (for $35/month. . .If you don`t know already, you can subscribe to ANY of their premium channels on a pro-rated basis (e.g. - if you wait until the last week of your regular monthly subscription, you can order any premium channel for 1/4 the price (just be sure to cancel it at the end of that week!). . . The Japanese porn seems pointless to me, but the Eleg. Angel ALREADY has great titles with Kristina R, Jenna H, Tori B, etc. . Worth a look.
Videobox caters almost exclusively to anal or big (mostly enhanced) boob lovers. This may be a huge plus for you but I keep waiting for a nice HD update that features something different once in a while. Haven't seen one in some time. Since I only download HD scenes this makes my subscription almost worthless. As usual this observation is purely subjective and might even be an incentive to subscribe ... for those who like anal and BB!
Because I think this is going to be the next site I join, I've been reading the comments and reviews and seen a couple people talk about the lack of quality in some of the more recent updates. So I thought about it for a second, and I realized something. That the death of DVD porn is basically the reason for the lessening of quality of the scenes here. Basically, pretty much any studio worth its salt right now, even if they are a primarily DVD company, is setting up its own website for its own content. And because of that, those companies aren't going to sell their content to sites like Videobox because then they lose the main reason for anyone to join their individual sites. The only companies that are going to sell them newer content is companies that just don't want to have an internet presence and companies that try to be more about selling the experience of their website than selling their content (Pink Visual being an example of that). So the only thing they have left to buy is older content. And as DVDs become less and less important, they have less and less new content to buy, and have to search for older content that they haven't bought yet. So either they're going to have to get into the business of creating their own content, or they're going to be left scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Well folks, the crew at vb has been working with great success on new and innovative ways to kick shit into the faces of their customers.
First, a couple of weeks back they decided to hide the daily updates. They moved them from the home page to another page on the site so you would have to click through a couple of pages and search for them. They did not announce this change, but after lots of complaints they posted a blog with an explanation that pretty much said "Tough Shit" this is what we want to do. Clever huh? Actually, since most of the updates the last few months have been old blurry low def scenes, tranny's and other such crap, not being able to find the updates is kind of a blessing in disguise.
Second, two big changes to the site today, the first one is, ITS GONE!!! Site has been down most of the day. If you try to connect, even as a visitor, you get the dreaded 404 blank page. If you do get through, the wait for a scene to load is upwards of 2 minutes.
Third, on the chance that you do get to log on, they have introduced the "guess the star" game. This game is simple. They just quit posting the name of the star or stars on all of the scenes. So its like pot luck without the luck!!! Unless you can recognize each of the several thousand stars on the site, its just a big crap shoot!

I subscribed to VideoBox for the first time in over a year this week. They have a new(er) feature called "Flow Mode" that's an alternative way to browse random video clips. When you select Flow Mode rows of clips start scrolling across your screen. All the clips are playing (no volume) so you get a quick preview. If you click a clip it expands and starts playing from where it left off in Flow Mode. There is also a filter option that lets you use Flow Mode for a specific niche.
I think that VB set a new record today; I went into the site about 6 times, and the wait for anything to happen was 30 seconds to never. Stay the fuck away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some time now Videobox also delivers some updates as "HD", being 720p resolution. While those videos really contain that resolution, they actually look quite blurred and bad compared to the usual 720p quality i know. Making me wonder, if they maybe just create this HD from a DVD source and just upscale it.
I can't recommend anyone who looks for HD videos to join. If you are satisfied with DVD quality though, this site is just fine.
This morning VB didn't post today's updates, only yesterday's updates were shown. Later in the morning the site is down; no video's, no updates, can't even log in. Stay away, there is no infrastructure, technical expertise or customer support on this site.
Videobox VB3 is working this morning............IF you don't mind waiting up to 60 seconds for a scene to load. VB2 is working fine as usual. Guess the VB crew took the day off to watch a parade somewhere.
Basically I agree with all the good and positive things said about VB in the reviews but I do wish to mention a consistent problem with their latest version VB3: there are many times when it takes ages to connect, there are almost daily occurrences of everything freezing when you try to judge someone's comment (thumbs up, thumbs down) or post a comment yourself, or when you try to re-load a page.
Download speed has always been consistently good for me for the past 6 months so I lay the blame squarely on some fault within VB3. I have been going back to the old VB site on a regular basis because I've had absolutely no problems with it.
I think they had better keep it going for another little bit until all the bugs in VB3 have been ironed out.
PS. Sorry, I forgot that I made a similar remark back in January, but in defense of this one .. in January I blamed overloaded servers, this time I blame a buggy system because my downloads were consistently fast (as mentioned) and I had no problems with the old server.
The site is going from good to bad in a hurry. Today all the updates were repeats of last week's updates, which is happening more and more all the time. The site logs me out each time I go to a new scene, but I have 5 months left on my membership. Scenes freeze up every few minutes, requiring that you log out, log in and start over. The low cost does not justify the frustration and the total lack of technical integrity in this site. Emails to customer service are ignored. Save your money!
